Does anyone know of an inexpensive house/condo that would sleep at least 5 people that has a roll in shower for handicapped accessibility? We are looking at returning to Disney in Oct 09 and would like to look into staying in a house/condo/villa during that stay. Thank you for your help!!!

be carefully and demand current pictures of the house/condo.

remember not too long ago - a poster here told the owners about a relative in a wheelchair - they kept saying not a problem.

well they got there and there were steps to even get in the location.

so ask to see pictures inside and out.

Thank you so much for the heads up!! :) In our case, I will be asking for measurements of the roll in shower...so hopefully stairs won't be a problem! But I sure have not thought about that!! I think my main problem is going to be finding something that will work and not paying an arm and a leg. I have seen some great homes out there...but they are so expensive to rent.

Thank you so much for your help! I will definitely get some pics!!! :)

Hi,
I have a daughter who uses a wheelchair also. We stayed in Caribe cove resort which is only a few minutes from the park. It was huge and very close to brand new. I booked a handicapped room with roll in shower but a few days before I checked in, they called me on the telephone and told me they didn't have a room with a roll in shower available but would give me a deluxe room at their sister resort for the same price(the sister resort deluxe rooms where more expensive so I could have made out on the deal) . It is called bahama bay, I checked it out while I was in orlando and I would have been happy with this resort but I had my heart set on Caribe cove and brought a bath chair instead. You can check out there website but if you do book a room, make sure you call them directly and tell them you need a roll in shower. I am confident they will definitely get you a roll in at Caribe cove or offer you Bahama bay. I used booking.com and got it for 99.00 a night. For that price it was amazing, check out tripadvisor and read all the positive reviews, that was what convinced me to stay there. There is a negative review about one person who did not get a roll in shower but the management said that you must call them directly which I did a few weeks before my stay to confirm they got the information.
If you only have 4 people, at the all-star or pop century they also give you a room with a roll in shower so that may be something you might think about. You have to call and they will confirm the disablitiy and put you through to special needs. They will confirm that you have a room for four but when you get there it will be two connecting rooms, one with doubles and one with a king.
Hope this gives you some ideas.:)

I know you can get a unit at Bonnet Creek ON Disney property at more than reasonable rates any time of the year. They had a huge roll in shower when I was in the handicap unit.

If you are looking for condo's, I know Windsor Palms has some ground floor handicapped accessible unit with roll-in showers. Check their website or a management co.
