We are cruising on the Magic in March 22-29. I'm considering not flying home on Sat. after the cruise but staying the night and flying out Sun. I thought about spending the dat in Downtown Disney but don't want to spend alot for the night. Does anyone have any recomendations on a hotel close enough to walk to DD yet with reasonable rates? There would be 5 in our group and it would be nice to just get 1 room , it's only one night so I think we could handle the close quarters!

Have you thought of using Priceline? You may or may not get something with in walking distance to DTD but it will be in-expensive. I have gottten the Best Western for $20, $25 & $27. I have gotten the Courtyard by Marriott for $25, the Grosvenor for $30 & $35 and I have gotten the Wyndham Palace for $49, 50 & 55 (all of them are in DTD and walking distance to the Marketplace. You may want to check out www.biddingfortravel to tips on placing bids....

Totally agree with mickey fan. We have gotten 2 rooms at the best western for 25 bucks and the rooms are huge. We were upgraded to a deluxe king room with a sleeper sofa. I did'nt ask and we checked in at 11 p.m. Housekeeping brought plenty (8) extra pillows up that late and were very friendly. We were also granted a DD view which was really nice.

Can you tell me what you used as for your search? I am trying priceline for the first time. Is there any you need to put in to get a room at the dd area?

Thanks
Theresa

The best resource for bidding on Priceline is Bidding For Travel.

You should be aware that you cannot guarentee that you will be within walking distance to DTD. Many other non-DTD hotels come up on Priceline at all quality levels. For instance, the Best Western was coming up a lot at the 2 1/2 * level and now the Clarion over on 192 is coming up.

If staying near DTD is a must, I would not use Priceline.

We like to stay at the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista on Palm Parkway for our first night. Last March, DH and I walked over to DTD and it was a pleasant walk on a beautiful evening. We stopped in at Goodings to pick up a couple of things on the way back to the CI. I just booked March 9 for $35.96 plus tax and $2.50 resort charge at an Internet Rate. Cancellation is by 4pm, day of arrival. We drive down so I like to have the first night off-site in case we are delayed.
