There is a good chance we will be having a bazaar next month to make money towards the local school's Explore America trip.

Any tried and true items to sell and make money?

Right now I know I will be doing baking - cupcakes, homemade Tigger Tails, popcorn cake.

I am also thinking of making bracelets - I have tons of pony beads. I was thinking of selling them for $.50 each. Would that be too much? Would they sell (in your opinion)? How about keychains, with designs attached to them with the pony beads? Any other pony bead ideas?? (I seriously have thousands of them that I would love to incorporate into some sort of craft. That way I save money and am actually using them.)

Thanks, in advance, for any ideas!!

My scout troop makes dog biscuits as a thank you to the church where we meet. The lady from the church fair hounds me (pun intended!) every year to make more because they sell so well. People like treating their dogs!

I have been doing really well selling handmade hair bows, tutus & aprons :)

There are online directions for making sugar and salt scrubs. Fairly easy as long as you have containers to put them in without spending a fortune.

What about making Christmas ornaments with your pony beads? Not sure what, but if you could string them into candy cane, stars, etc tie with Ribbon and put on a tree. We also bought some homemade ornaments once that looked like someone made some sort of dough, stamped with a Christmas design, made a hole to hang it with, baked and painted. Tied with ribbon and they were cute, inexpensive ornaments. There is also the old standby applesauce/cinnamon dough recipe to make smelly ornaments. You could probably find recipes online for these.

Layered mason jars with baking or soup ingredients. Cover top with ribbon/fabric to make pretty and attach baking/cooking directions.

how about making beach scenes in smill jars (like mason jars) you could put small shells (like they sell in bags at michaels) and some sand. Tie the top with a nice ribbon and when they shack it they will get a different scene everytime.

I make jewelry, so that is something I would do, and I knit, particularly dishcloths, so I would do those as well.

The layered ingredients in a mason jar made pretty is a great idea. Particularly cookies. Add all of the dry ingredients and then give instructions with what wet ingredients to add.

As for pony beads, here is all sorts of ideas...

I'm going to guess that you live in Aberdeen, when we first moved to WA we lived not too far away in OS.

I second the ornament idea, those can incorporate plenty of beads.
Candy cane reindeer
hair ribbons
crayon holders from strips of fabric and ribbon

If there are going to be kids at the show how about running a make your own bracelet booth. You supply the pony beads and elastic cording. I bet you could charge $2 per bracelet-which is more then the $.50 you were going to charge for the ones that you made and you have to do NO work! My dd is 8 and loves making crafts. They can make ones for themselves and for friends too!

I would try running a gift wrapping table. My nieces middle school used to run one every holiday season and it was very successful.

I just saw your link for snowman soup..very cute =)

I think that is a fantastic idea!

This is exactly what I was going to suggest! :thumbsup2 Just spread the word ahead of time that there will be kids' activities, and have a few extra adult/teen hands there to help tie the bracelets. My girls would go crazy for this, even though we have thousands of our own beads at home.

My daughter was once given "Reindeer Food". It was in a bag with a little note or poem. The contents were different seeds and such, I think it was likely bird seed and it also had oatmeal. It talked about how reindeer get hungry and to throw the food on your roof or on your lawn for them to eat while Santa delivers presents.

We have made the reindeer food for several years. I gave it to everyone at work a few years ago (100 people). It is inexpensive to make, we use plain oats and glitter. The glitter is supposed to sparkle in the snow so the deer can see it. I don't have the little note that goes with it handy, I bet you could find one online.

What about hairbows? Do you know how to make them? They are super easy and usually sell easily. There are also ribbon wrapped headbands I've seen.

You can also use those pony beads to make cute little zipper pulls!

Have fun!

A food station for the kiddies.....
-thick pretzel rods
-marshmallows on skewers
-white chocolate
-semi-sweet chocolate (both melted in small crockpot)
-sprinkles(of various sizes, colors, shapes)
-crushed candy canes
-crushed oeros
etc.

Children can dip pretzel/marshmallows and then roll in "toppings". You can get small clear treat type bags at the dollar store for the kids to put them in to take home.

OR
you can make both of the above and sell at the bake sale.

ANOTHER idea.....
thumb print ornaments, etc.
With a small amount of paint and some creativity thumb prints and fingerprints can be transformed into reindeer, snowmen, cardinals, etc.
Super easy, low mess level and low costs.

ANOTHER idea....
We recently had a huge festival and one of the biggest hits....made over $500 with minimal costss...was Cotton Candy. A local store rents the machine for $25/day, however we bargained to get it for free with the exchange of advertising in our program.
It is so easy and really made a lot of quick cash. We sold it in bags for $1.00.
You can do Christmas colors, etc and make it fun.

Good luck.
Keep us posted.
