Jewel sang the national Anthem which was amazing, Jack Nicholson waved the green flag, it was a hot hot day but lots of fun! I recorded the entire beginning of the pre-race ceremonies, green flag, and finish audio, awesome stuff!

I'm an Indiana native (Hoosier, as we say), and lived in Indianapolis for 4 years.

Glad you had a good time, and GREAT to see Jim Nabors singing again. He was quite ill with liver disease for a while and didn't sing his signature song for several years.

Did you get a chance to tour the Indy 500 Museum? My DH's grandfather worked for Tony Hulman and procured many of the vintage race cars displayed there.

Wow, brings back so many memories from the last 30 years! We have kept our tickets and sold them for the last 5 years but I watch it every year. This year, I watched it online with the live radio broadcast. Not like being there but I can feel the excitement in your pics.
