Hi all,
I have been reading another thread about the chocolate Cindy's slipper, and someone mentioned the Individual Castle Cakes, and a chocolate name plate, I know the prices...$25.00 for the cake and $10.00 for the name plate, but don't really know much else.

If anyone has had either could you please enlighten me....and if anyone has a picture I would love to see it!

I always plan something special for my mom when we go, and this year has been hard since we have so much planned....anything that can be done is planned or we have done it bofore (well anything that I know she would like)

We are doing the Afternoon Tea at the GF one day, and I thought it would be nice to surprise her with one of the specialty desserts, the chocolate slipper won't work since it is white chocolate and she doesn't like that.

Any help would be appreciated!!:D

The individual Castle cakes were featured on the Food Channels Disney Wedding show Sunday night. They are fairly new. They will run this show again on June 26 at 5:00p and June 27 at 4:00p and then you can see them.

Someone here called and got the $25. price and it's only available at the GF.

The name on the plate is really just an addition you can have put on the Dog bones and Cinderella's slipper desserts. Nice touch!

There are a few threads about the Dog bones and Cinderella's Slippers right here if you do a search.

Rethink the chocolate slipper...let me explain.

There are two parts to tahtplate. Teh slipper, and a teardrop shape piece of dark chocolate. The slipper is filled with either white cream or chocolate cream, your choice. The teardrop is filled with chocolate cream (mousse if I recall).

So there is actually very little white chocolate involved with taht plate.

Thank you for your response, I was reading that thread and someone mentioned that the $10.00 was a charge for the name on the plate, then a poster called and said it was free to have the name put on the plate the $10.00 was for a "chocolate name plate" so im not really sure, I guess I will have to call the GF Bakery myself to find out for sure, I think I will ask them what different special desserts they can do, just to get a list.
I won't be able to call until later this week, I will respond to this thread with what I find....

And thank you for telling me about the show, im looking forward to seeing it!!

Ducklite,
Thank you for your explaination about the slipper, would you say it is good for the non white chocolate lovers? I guess I just noticed that the slipper was white and it turned me off to it.

You are welcome.

Yes, I saw that too. Some say it is free and others say they were told the name would be an additional $10!!!

Here's a link to pictures of 3 of the special desserts GF does http://photos.yahoo.com/lauralane65 The slipper, the dog bones and the choc Mickey and strawberries.

I'd like to know about those chocolate "nameplates" too.

As far as I know there are no pictures floating around of either the names (with the slipper or Dog bones) and no picture of the Castle cake yet.

We all just found out about the option to put a name on the Cinderella Slipper and Dog Bone dessert plates and the Castle cake is a brand new dessert that we just learned about from the "Disney Wedding" show on the Food Network just Sunday night so I doubt there's a picture anywhere.

Your only hope is maybe the Wedding forum (someone may have had either of them at their wedding) or wait till someone orders one and takes a picture of it and shares their pictures with us!!!

I just wish the GF bakery just had a brochure with all these great desserts for us! It would make it so much easier. I think they mostly make them for weddings and for their restaurants' desserts (and room service) but the word is spreading and now they're starting to do them upon request.

I'm not a big white chocolate fan, and there was more than enough with the chocolate tear and the cream filling inside the shoe. :) It was too rich and too much and I couldn't eat it all...of course my chocaholic DH had no problem helping out.

Hi Everyone.

My name is Ann - and my husband Michael and I were the "Orange Couple" featured on the Disney Wedding Special.

The mini cakes were given to us as an upgrade - since Disney really wanted to feature all the things they could do with the food.

We had planned on having the Cinderella Slipper Dessert and Wedding Cake. The mini cakes were actually the third dessert - a ridiculous amount of dessert but they were delicious. Leftovers were taken home by our guests in cake boxes.

Here is a picture of the mini cakes from our wedding.

I don't know how much they cost - since we didn't pay for them.

If you have any questions feel free to send me an email or message.

Hi!!! I really enjoyed your "orange" wedding. I liked the pumpkin name cards.

I have a question about the mini cakes. What is the castle made of?? Is it plastic or is it made of chocolate? We couldn't really tell from the food network show.

Hi Ann, thanks so much for sharing the picture with us!!! I saw your post on the Community board...sorry for the negative posts over there.:(

I was one who missed the show Sunday night but I've marked my calendar for the repeats on Saturday and Sunday! I can't wait!

Maggie,

The castles were made out of white chocolate and sprayed. I don't really know how they did it - but they were amazing. And delicious too!

While we didn't plan on them originally, they were one of the things that made our already dream wedding even more special.

Thanks.

Me too! I want to get married again! Now that we aren't so young and stupid. I guess I will have to live vicariously through my DDs. It is only fair since I had the wedding of MY MOM's dreams.

Ann - Congratulations! and thank you for being so thoughtful to post here. I didn't see the special yet either and have plans to watch it Saturday. This will now make watching the show even more special!! I'm thinking about ordering the cakes for our trip to Narcossee's.

First- Anne it sounds like you had a wonderful and special day (now I'll have to watch to see... Can't wait)
Second- With these desserts- are these things you can only order at GF? I think they would be a perfect "special" treat at the end of the day to have left in a room.
Thanks,
Dana
