Hi everyone,

It is 16 days now til we go for Christmas, and this time we are flying indirect via Toronto. The flight is United Airlines but operated by Air Canada. I just have a couple of questions which I hope someone might be able to answer!

1. Are we likely to check our bags straight through as both flights are the same airline, or will we need to collect bags at Toronto?

2. What happens when we get to Toronto (sorry, never flown indirect before!)?

3. Is there much to do at Toronto airport, as on the way back we have 6/7 hours between the two flights?

4. What information do I need to update in our ESTA forms?

Thanks in advance :goodvibes

Hi Jen,

Not sure about Toronto questions but for the ESTA question all I did was make sure I still had approval to enter the USA, just go to the ESTA website and put your ESTA number in the system to double check, I never made any changes and had no problems on entry into Orlando. hope this helps :)

Don't know about your luggage but I think you will clear US immigration in Toronto, we did when we flew to New York from Montreal. Then it is a domestic flight, straihjt to baggage claim

i always used to fly through toronto....i love air canada - really nice air crews!!

yes, in toronto you will clear US customs before you board the plane, so that when you get to orlando, you'll be a domestic arrival..

when you board the plane in the UK, you check your bags all the way to orlando (check to make sure the ground agent checks your bags to orlando)..

but when you get to toronto, you will have to pick up your bags, clear them through canadian customs, and then go through US customs and then drop them off again at the connecting drop off desk (for them to be loaded onto your next flight)...

don't worry - lots of people will be continuing on to the US...in fact, you can just ask the canadian immigration guy what you're supposed to do if you're continuing on....they know and will tell you where to go...

you should go to the canadian disboard to ask about the airport...i haven't been there since they opened the new terminal....

Thanks Beth - that information is really helpful, and it is great to hear that the crews are friendly!

i wonder if Air Canada still has the little snack island during the flight..

if i'm remembering correctly, they had snacks out in the back during the flight - so that you could come by and get something when you were hungry....

i'm not sure if i'm remember correctly or not...
i flew them both economy and business, so it might be business i'm remembering..
in any case, you should walk around to check...might be some snacks out...

have a wonderful holiday!!
