Im looking into indirect flights at the moment for late October/ early november and so far the prices are either the same price as Virgin or more expensive !!

Ive looked on Expedia and netflights as well as continental website !!

Flight gurus where am i going wrong and where should I be looking???

Have you tried the Delta/KLM website?

It's where I found our bargain. :)

Aer Lingus has some good ones too.

What dates are you trying and which departure airport?
Indirect are not always cheaper

Yup, Aer Lingus is looking good at the moment, Round about £500 return for that time of year.

I booked our US airways flights through thomas cook online - manchester to orlando via philadelphia. Price was the same with US airways website direct.

A day or two either side makes a big difference - the saturday dates were alot dearer.

US airways is showing £508.50 for Oct 27th return 10th Nov from manchester a person. Thursday flights.

We paid approx that each. Virgin was wanting over £800 each for our Oct dates.

Indirect wasn't cheaper for us this time, we paid about £340 for this January, and they wanted £540 odd for 2011, we decided to change to April anyway, but I thought that £540 for January which is usually the cheapest time of year was a bit steep.

We got a great deal with Virgin, are you stuck to October for a reason, or just because you like it then?

We are looking at 1st to 14th October from either Birmingham or Manchester!!
Alternate dates are 1st to 14th November.

Louise, we did the 2nd - 15th October this year. The weather was beautiful. A few cool evenings taking the boat back from DTD but hot enough to spend a day in the pool/at waterparks and really not humid at all. I looked at doing the same next year and in my playing with dates for accommodation and dummy flight bookings I suddenly found that by shifting the holiday one week earlier, it shaved a good chunk off the price. Our hotel and ticket package for one adult and one child was £300+ cheaper and our flights were a bit cheaper too (I couldn't resist comparing the would-be dates ;)).

The Halloween parties ran from mid September this year (early Sept last year).

£538/adult BHX, Netflights good flight tiimes.(indirect )

£543 MAN with Opodo (indirect)

If dates are flexible by a day best deal is going from Gatwick M&M £463pp +2000miles (approx £150pp saving)

Thats about best I see around then, if you are flexible its just very tome consuuming but you just need to try all you dates. If possible fly away from the weekend, most airlines charge less Mon~Weds.

Weather is usually perfect at that time of year, my fave time.

Thanks for looking for me x

Just remembered I used www.skyscanner.co.uk to find our flights, you can see comparisons of fares for all days in a particular month so you can see which is the cheapest going out etc, we found it really useful!

have you tried destinations other than orlando?
i just tried miami, instead of orlando and found flights for almost 1/3 less...
i can't believe i was able to find it that much cheaper just by changing airports..

now i have to see how much it costs to rent a car in miami...
how long does it take to drive? 6 hours?

It will take around 4 hours druve to Orlando

not too bad...and maybe i'll take the scenic route on the coast in one of the directions..

We did the drive in August Beth. Would recommend an overnight stay on the way there as I was shattered on arrival at the resort, and we also did a couple of nights at Fort Lauderdale on the way back, which was lovely - great shopping and we even saw a pre-season Miami Dolphins game!

We are also still looking for indirect. For our April (school hols) trip last year we paid £340. Prepared to push it to £400 this year but still can't find anything less than £500. If anyone sees anything, let me know...!
