I am sure everyone has heard the $3 billion DHS (or possibly known as DHA soon) rumor at this point which includes a version of the Indiana Jones ride. I have never ridden the original but I understand it to more or less be a differently themed version of Dinosaur at AK.

I for one hope if the rumors are true they go a different direction and make the attraction something more like Revenge of the Mummy at Universal (minus the floppy mummy animatronics).

There has also been a lot of skepticism in various blogs about how the cost is out of line with reality but if they want to finish the project in any reasonable amount of time it seems logical they would be paying significantly higher union labor rates and do this in a very short timeframe. By Disney standards I may get to experience this for the first time with my grandchildren if the cost does not factor increased labor cost due to 24/7 construction.

The Indiana jones ride is highly unlikely to be coming to DHS. The focus will be Star Wars and Pixar.

I'm not sure why you think will be a very short timeframe since no timeframe has actually been announced yet. Rumors don't have the completion until after 2020 which really isn't a very aggressive time schedule even for Disney. Where are you coming from with your higher union labor rates? Disney will be out the projects and not take into account what type of labor the contractor will be using just like they have every other project. The majority of construction labor in the state of Florida is nonunion so I don't think this will be any different.

2021...

Just hope they do something. All you do now is stand on line or wait for your fast pass time. They need three of four more real rides like TOT, RNR. The only reason it not a half day park is the lines. Only allow one fast pass for major rides others is standing on line

Really I am just trying to find some understanding for the rumored project cost. Based on the article/rumor (http://thisisinfamous.com/3-billion...overhaul-disneys-hollywood-studios-exclusive/) it suggests that an Indy ride might be part of the plan (again RUMORED).

It is my understanding that Disney does use union labor and I am speculating that the wildly high $3 billion dollar rumor might be impacted by an aggressive project timeline. If they are in fact using union labor and intend on working an extremely aggressive schedule (i.e. nights, weekends, holidays) this would certainly impact the cost due to labor rates. There is regular discussion on the boards and podcasts referencing the slow pace for DW projects compared to Universal and it made me wonder if the rumored price tag might be impacted by an attempt to change the perceived sluggish production pace.

The reported cost of building all of AK was just shy of $1 billion. Cars Land was something like $1.1 billion. I've seen references to NFL in the $425 million range. Avatar Land is in the $500 million wheelhouse.

Just for fun let's pretend the $3 billion rumor is true. If comparing the cost of some of the other large projects to the rumored projects at DHS it is hard on the surface to support the rumored budget without finding some logical reason why so much.

I have been on both Dinosaur and Indiana Jones many times. Trust me, I never feel like I am on Dinosaur while riding IJ. I think it would be a great addition to DHS.

Indy is very unlikely to be part of the DHS expansion. DHS is getting 2.8 billion, now that also includes infrastructure for parking garages and other enhancements.

Carsland did not cost 1.1 billion that was the cost of the total DCA redo not including TSMM or WoC.

Avatar is closer to 700 million.

Are you saying that if Disney wants to get it done quicker than they should use union labor? Hahahahhaha!

When has union labor EVER sped anything up? Have you ever had to deal with union labor? "That's not my job, we'll have to get an electrician over here to plug in that extension cord". "I know the box of stuff we need is sitting right there on the truck but we have to wait on the movers to come over here and unload it".

If you're dealing with a union it takes 3 times as many workers 4 times as long to do the same job as non-union workers.

I would love an Indy ride at WDW. Forbidden Eye remains one of my top 3 Disney rides ever. I know Dinosaur and Indy have very different theming, but if that particular IP ever comes to WDW, I'd rather have a different system to differentiate it from Dinosaur.

It's wishful thinking, anyways. It could happen if the new movies are a success, but in the meantime, I don't think Disney has any plans to build an Indy ride at WDW.

Good lord no! We have to use union labor in my business and our labor costs increase by 30% every time. Those guys have to have a union supervisor sign paperwork and log a different rate if they go from moving furniture to moving boxes. It is insane.

This article has a lot of wishful thinking. The budget for DHS is said the be 2.8 billion and then MK and Epcot will get 300-350 million each for various things.

The author of the piece said that his information has been verified by multiple sources. So it has nothing to do with wishful thinking, and everything to do with the accuracy of his sources.

We'll find out next month when the news from D23 comes out.

Personally, I think a new Indy ride would make a lot of sense. They are getting rid of the Indy show, and a ride would be the natural replacement (and everyone has been clamoring for one, for years).

As for the wonders of unions...don't get me started.

Getting rid of the Indy show has not been confirmed yet. I also don't see them bringing a 20 year old ride to DHS. Based on the sources I have seen they say the Indy part of this is false.

Pete said in the podcast that if they can't get the DHS expansion completely done by the summer of 2018 they shouldn't even bother breaking ground. He says they must move fast or inroads that Universal will make will be irreversible and it will be a whole new ballgame from there on out.

Universal with three gates/water park/multiple resorts will end Disney's undisputed dominance of market share.

Maybe one day, but in the near future? No.

Even with the huge success of both Potter lands, Universal still lags WDW in attendance. Even USF, with it's brand new Diagon Alley and 17% attendance boost, is far behind WDW's least popular theme park.

Here's a link showing 2014 attendance: http://www.mynews13.com/content/new...6/3/theme_park_attendance_2014.html#worldwide

And, currently, WDW has more in the pipeline; a new land in AK, and a Frozen ride coming to Epcot. Considering that the A & E meet and greets are one of the hottest tickets in Orlando, can you imagine how the ride will do? Even if it's mediocre, every family will be booking FP+ reservations for it.

There's no way the DHS expansion will be done in three years' time, but Disney doesn't need it to be.

Yeah. Indy is far superior. Still, I hope they focus on original attractions. As much as I want to be Indiana Jones, I need to live in a galaxy far, far away.

Yes but it's not going to happen like that expect a 2021 full completion. New things will be open in 2018 tho.

Lucasfilm have already said they plan to re-boot the Indiana Jones franchise in a few years, so i think he definitely has a place in Hollywood studios but will probably be limited to a single ride
