I don’t think this situation is as cut and dried as many posters seem to think.
You have more patience than I but then I’m stillover SNL’s Jafar interview skit.
If I could get to DW with out stepping foot in Florida it would make me very happy. You are so spot on. I don't know what Central Florida would have ever become without Disney taking a chance on that location. Now that it has brought SO much, including other tourism, it's like they want to have amnesia. It will never, ever happen but I'd love nothing more than for Disney to pull up shop and go somewhere else for their "world."
Of course not and no one is saying it is - if you scratch hard enough - you’ll find something - great - a lot of consumer and taxpayer dollars wasted on a giant tit for tat - not to mention fallout to employees and businesses due to reputational harm - congratulations - everyone should feel so good about themselves as upstanding holier than thou citizens for changing absolutely nothing …I don’t think this situation is as cut and dried as many posters seem to think.
I think all of us would be surprised to learn some of the stuff going on within big corporations.I don’t think this situation is as cut and dried as many posters seem to think.
Yeah I doubt that.I think all of us would be surprised to learn some of the stuff going on within big corporations.
RCID was probably the weakest area to find any ‘harm’. That part is laughable. It’s a power grab and the egregiousness of how it’s been handled is 10 times worse than whatever was supposed to get solved (maybe 100x).
I think there is plenty of bias to go around.I'd be wary of anything released by the CFTOD. It's inherently going to be biased.
Of course there will be ramifications - why else go to the trouble? Here's some guy who claims to be a lawyer with experience in Florida Special Districts going over the audit report in great detail and explaining all the issues raised. I'm not a lawyer, so I cannot confirm or deny anything he's saying, but it's certainly very "interesting" if true.
Again, I'm not a lawyer, but it's kind of hard for me to imagine Disney will not get charged with something. And, whether or not one agrees with the motivations, I think shaking up the Special District was probably the right thing and long overdue.
If the Villages isn't stopped soon, the entire state of Florida will be turned into golf courses, tennis courts and speakers playing Jimmy Buffett music 24/7! /s

Surprise, surprise.Board Member Bridget Ziegler not present at today’s meeting

Problem is the audit comes off entirely accusatory and slanted rather than just a basic presenting of facts and evidence to back up claims. Even reading through their evidence that’s associated with the audit is rather weak and doesn’t amount to much in the way of egregious corruption as the report presents. It’s very telling when people have to resort to criticizing a CFTOD board member (who I agree is hypocritical in her personal life but who has nothing to do with the old RCID or this report) instead of discussing the actual text of the audit.
At the end of the day, I’ll gladly just wait for the courts to sort all this out (lawsuits against Disney, the state of FL, RCID, CFTOD and whatever also is out there). Some people hate Desantis so much that they could care less what wrongdoing Disney may or may not have done. And some people think that some of Disney’s statements and actions are so egregious that they will take any statement against them as 100% true and unbiased. I‘m old enough to know that the truth will lie somewhere in the middle, that no entity in this has totally clean hands, and that the only people to truly suffer ramifications are never going to be the ones that deserve it.
Yep. Change Disney to Walmart and Florida to any blue state, and the attitudes and opinions of many would also change. It’s very telling when people have to resort to criticizing a CFTOD board member (who I agree is hypocritical in her personal life but who has nothing to do with the old RCID or this report) instead of discussing the actual text of the audit.
