Anyone interested in booking a Med cruise this summer check out the incredible pricing for these cruises.

$3700.42 for 2 people in a GTY Cat 12.

It seems as though the ships aren't full and they are discounting the cheapest rooms to try and fill up the ship.

We originally booked a Cat 9 and down graded to a Cat 12 this morning and Disney is refunding almost $3000.

It's the deposit at least for our next cruise.:)

Congratulations! I did the same thing and guess what? My guarantee category 12 was upgraded to a catagory 9! I started out in a category 11, downgraded to a guarantee category 12 and saved $3000, then got upgraded to a category 9. Can't beat that! We're sailing on the 6/6 Med Cruise. From what I remember only 1 or 2 of the sailings were discounting the rate this low. :cool1:

Hi - when did you find out you were upgraded to cat 9? We are a cat 9 now, and are thinking about going for the gty cat 12 for our 070707 cruise? Not sure about no split bath, as our 2 sons are 18 & 12, and we liked the split bath option. I looked and there only a handful of cat 12 rooms, so it seems like chances are pretty good for an upgrade. That $3000 savings is very inticing. Did they refund you, or apply a credit for a future cruiese? How does that work? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
Don't know what to do??? Think I will call my TA tomorrow though.:upsidedow

We haven't heard yet if we got an upgrade. We don't cruise until the end of July. But the TA told us we would have a refund on our credit card in a few days. My husband and I are not taking the kids on this cruise so not having the split bath isn't a problem for us. The $3000. was more important to us. And who knows maybe we will get an upgrade:) .

Good luck,
S

I recently noticed this, too. The 11 day cruises in July are ridicuously low. I quoted for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids), and The cost was a little over $5000, and that included insurance ($538), for the 7/7 cruise, the 7/18 was like $400 more. If I remember correctly, when the cruise prices were announced, the minimum was $2400 for the first two people. I booked a med cruise when I was on the ship in august, and the price was close to $8000, maybe more. I have since cancelled. With Iberia now planning flights to madrid out of dulles.........interesting to say the least.

These discounted rates are averaging less than $100 per person, per day. Not too shabby.

This is making me nuts! We booked with points for a cat 11. We plan on getting to the port early to see if we can pay for an upgrade. We're traveling with a service dog so it would be really nice to have a balcony for it's pottie pool. I asked DVC the other day what it would cost right not to just pay for the upgrade so we didn't have to be at the ship so early and they wanted 3 grand for it. We're doing the repo home. I keep hoping some magic will happen but I guess I'm just going to have to end up paying for it.

GRATZ on the upgrade, it's nice to hear they do do it some times.

Shercara - I got my room assignment about 1 week after I made the change, but at that point we were less than a month from our sailing date anyway. We were only moving from an 11 to a 12, so we weren't giving up the split bath. You're right, there are only a handful of 12's. Good luck with your decision. Oh, they credited my credit card that I used to pay the cruise about 1 week after I made the change.

Just figured it out and we would save $5000:scared1: Hate to give up the split bath, and a cat 12 is 214 sq ft while a cat 9 is 184 sq ft. Called DCL and she said she has seen people upgraded in the past, but can't promise anything. If we had small children I wouldn't think twice - but our boys are 18 & 12 and its more like 4 adults in the room. But then again the 18 yr old is off to college in the fall and the $5000 savings would be nice.:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

DCL also said the 070707 cruise is filling up fast.

Ok - I am waiting to hear from my TA - hubby is in meetings all day - so looks like I will be making this decision alone - last night he said $3000 was alot of money to save. Now that it is $5000 - with a possible chance to upgrade anyway - it seems like a no brainer - we polled the boys last night and DH12 said keep cat 9 - he wants the window, DH 18 said window will be nice to see Europe as we have never been, if it was the Caribbean, than ok to switch.:confused3 :confused3

Will let you know what we decide. Wish me luck!

It's even less for June cruises: $3100.42 (June 6 and 27: 10-day, and June 16: 11-day) - and that's with Disney's insurance and transfers ($438 value)!

WOW! :) Thanks for the tip. DH and I are still up in the air about what we will do for our annual trip without the kids. This would be great. However, I priced the cruise and tried to add the air and it said no flights available from Columbus or Cincinatti. I also tried a couple of airlines and there is nothing available. Who is everyone flying on?

Check for air on a site like www.kayak.com, and also check flights from Indianapolis. I would think you could fly Cincinnati to Atlanta on Delta and then catch an international flight from there. I know that on American from Chicago - you would fly to London, and then connect on British Airways or Iberia.

I would definitely plan to arrive the day before the cruise, so your outbound flight date should be 2 days before sailing date.

I was looking for flights for USA next year and find that www.kayak.com is brilliant.:thumbsup2

Thanks

Hi! I was not even considering a Med cruise until I saw these prices!! I think I will have to check into it......

It's not that you can't fly out of Cincinnati, but rather that DCL doesn't have any more availability for their cheap flights out of there.

I just checked American Airlines' web site to see what they show, using any carrier. One routing is to fly Cincinnati to Chicago and Chicago to Paris on American, then Paris to Barcelona on Iberia. The return is Barcelona to London on British Airways, then London to Chicago and Chicago to Cincinnati on American.

Delta has non-stops from Atlanta to Barcelona, with somewhat long layovers after the Cincinnati to Atlanta flight. If you fly to New York from Cincy - you will fly into LaGuardia, and out of Kennedy!

In my situation the airfare cost much much more than the cruise. But, it's a once in a lifetime trip for us probably.

For those of you who have been able to make the change to the Cat 12 Gty, how many passengers were there in your stateroom? There are 4 of us currently booked in a Cat 9, and this sounds like a deal we can't pass up. We called our travel agent, but he was unsuccessful either doing it on his own reservation system or going through Disney.

Remember, if you have four in your party, you MUST be upgraded to at least a cat 11 - no cat 12's sleep four

Not all the sailings are showing the guarantee 12 category available for 4 people. Depends on the sailing. I priced it for myself on the August 07 transatlantic but the cat 12 are only available for 2 people so I would have to book two rooms but not guaranteed to be together
