Incredible DVD question

So excited The Incredibles are in my house today!
I preordered the DVD from the Disney store and picked it up today but I am confused about widescreen vs. full screen DVDs. I called after the purchase and the manager stated that only Full screen DVDs were shipped to the Disney store. As she talked, I researched online and found the widescreen version at Walmart.
Which is better? I have a 46 inch TV that has full options already on it. Should I have bought the widescreen for more viewing options?
Is the Full screen worse than the widescreen? I am so confused!
Which one to purchase and why would Disney do that? My Top Gun DVD has both options available to choose. Is this a ploy by Disney store to have to buy the widescreen version later? HHHEEELLLPPP!

With the size of tv you have I'd get the wide screen it allows you to see more of the pictures at the side rather than cutting it off. I bought mine at Walmart and it came with a bonus pc-cd rom print studio for the computer for coloring pages, invitations and cards, and calenders etc. Full screen is okay too. I paid $24.00 canadian for mine. Either is fine it's a great movie. Cheers Kat

Me I always prefer the full screen version, I hate to see that black line across the top and bottom of my screen (my tv is not that large).

I agree about the confusion and I'm not sure why Disney/Pixar did it this way. I was in our Disney Store today and they told 2 customers it wasn't released on widescreen, but I bought the widescreen (afterwards) at Target.

BTW: We have a 35" TV and always watch widescreen.

I always buy Widescreen on all my DVDs. I do not have a widescreen TV, yet, but I figure in years to come that it may be the only TV available. I also like the fact that I am seeing the film/movie exactly how it was made for it's regular theater release rather than a "pan and scan" edit to adjust for the smaller TV screen ratio.

This was an issue for us last night when we went to buy our copy of the Incredibles. Our CVS had a promotion last week were if you spent $20 buying certain products you got $10 off The Incredibles. These were items we normally purchase and I had coupons so it seemed like a great deal for us. Last night we went to CVS to get our DVD and they only had FULLSCREEN. We have a large WIDESCREEN tv so we wanted the WIDESCREEN version. The cashier said that they only received the FULLSCREEN ones. We didn't have time last night to look elsewhere because we were heading to the hospital to see our new niece. Guess DH will be going to Target this afternoon for the DVD. I wish Disney would be consistant and put both versions in the package like they have done in the past.

Did anyone get the FullScreen version? I ask because on the Finding Nemo DVD, instead of Pan'n'Scan, they filled in the blanks with more animation, and I wondered if they might have done the same thing on the Incredibles. DH bought the widescreen, so it won't do us any good if they did, but it might help someone else and/or at least explain why the Disney Store only got in the fullscreen.

I also participated in the offer from CVS and they only had it in fullscreen. I did call a few other CVS stores near me, and they only had fullscreen. I'm assuming CVS only sells the fullscreen version, which I am not too happy about. The bright side is that I only paid $11 and will be getting another $4 back in Extra bucks from the purchase.

We just came back from Target and didn't realize that we had the full screen version. We don't have a huge tv but we usually do opt for the widescreen version. We wanted to watch it tonight so we just kept the full screen and it was fine for us. You might notice the difference having a larger tv than us.

We prefer widescreen but I wanted to get the pin and lithographs (and plush too) from disney direct so I ordered the fullscreen as that was all they had listed. The DVD they sent was widescreen! Which worked out well as that was what we really wanted but I wonder how the people who wanted fullscreen felt if the same thing happened to them?

WOW that was a great demo! Usually like my Top Gun DVD the DVD gives you the option of what viewing you choose. I don't understand why Disney is being so difficult and selling two different copies....Greed?

Thanks again for clearing that up. I'm just going to wait until I get a coupon or the DVD goes cheaper and buy another. my kids will probably trash this one with scratches and it will be a treat to get a clean one! Always be positive, right? (A part of me is still hurt by Disney)

Widescreen v. Fullscreen

The Star Wars boxed set also had two different packages, one for Widescren and the other for Fullscreen. So it is not only Disney.

My guess to the reasoning is that the two versions take up twice the disk space, so they can't include as many extras.

I had read on another thread about the Full Screen issue at the Disney Store. So today when I went to pick mine up, sure enough thats all they had. I complained and she said they had been swamped with complaints. She refunded me my money and told me not to worry about the lithographs. I felt bad and offered to bring them back but she told me not to worry about it and said it serves Disney right for sending them all fullscreen. For me, I don't really care but my geeky husband has to have widescreen! I ended up just buying it widescreen at Target for $16.99 which was $3 cheaper than the Disney Store.

Widescreen. That is what we only buy. Plus, it looks great on our Sony 65 inch widescreen tv.

I wish that when you pre-order (like we did) that they would tell you that only one option was available. I'm fine with either one, but DH and DS were disappointed (they wanted widescreen).

We bought the widescreen version at our local WalMart this week for $14.87 plus tax (of course). Many, if not most movies, are now offered on either widescreen or full frame for the same price.

Have you tried to find Shrek on widescreen? You can get the full screen version discounted significantly at most stores, but the widescreen version has yet to be discounted as significantly.

I am a total widescreen SNOB and have been for about 3 years now since I first saw an online site showing the difference. Before, the black bars really bugged me. Now I don't even notice. We have a 35".

I agree - they should just be consistent and offer both versions in one package!
