Was there some sort of incident on Wonder in the last few weeks? I haven't been keeping up.

I read that a wave blew in a port hole on one of the deck two cabins and flooded the stateroom and the one across the hall.

I would really like to know which room it was as we are on deck two this upcoming trip.

Me too.....I can easily see this happening. On one of our cruises the waves were very high...some of them were breaking right below our Deck 2 porthole.

I also know that on the maiden voyage of the Magic from Italy to the U.S. they had very rough seas and a porthole blew in from waves and damaged a cabin.

These are the only 2 times that I have ever heard of that happening. We are in a Cat 9, Deck 2 cabin this January.

There was a post the other day kidding about this sort of thing happening....could that be the thread that you heard of this incident....anyone know for sure if it really happened on the Wonder recently???

From 11/14 Villianous voyage thread....

The seas the first night were "interesting" - up to 20 foot swells. Apparently a porthole in a deck 2 room blew in when hit by a wave. flooding that room & the room on either side. Since we're sailing "full" I'm not sure where they moved those folks to - I'm sure they had to launder or replace all their clothes.

Any villians out there with more info...

20' seas sounds like a GOOOD time too me!!!::yes::

Man, I'm on deck ONE in 2 weeks!:earseek: I could drown at that level!!

WOW I had not heard any thing of this. My TA was on this sailing, I may have to give her a call and see what was up.

Dennis ...

As our waiter from palo once put it...

"I sleep with the fishes.....":fish:

I was on that sailing. I don't know the exact room number, but it was across the hall from the peter pan conference room.

The porthole blew in (we're guessing the waves slammed something against it) and flooded the room, and the room NEXT too it (blew a hole in the wall between the 2 rooms). Someone from one of the rooms, soaking wet, showed up in the peter pan conference room looking for a cast member (since his phone in his room now didn't work).

The replaced the carpet in the hallway in front of 5-6 rooms. The two affected rooms were evacuated (presume upgraded) and everything was removed (all furniture & carpet). It was done by the time the Wonder sailed again on Nov 18th supposedly.

This sounds terrifying! I am amazed that it seems to have been handled so calmly!

hhhhmmmmmmm---- and we are also on deck 2, Cat9--this will give me something to think about when I an trying to get to sleep!!!

Did you happen to notice on the ship info channel what the 20' waves were called. I know 12-18 is very rough. Also did the captain make an announcement?

I believed the captain called them "Big-A$$" waves! :teeth:

We were also on that sailing and spoke with the man who was in the room next to the one where the porthole blew out. Very nice guy, but I never did ask him his cabin number. He did mention that they moved his cabin and washed all of their clothes free of charge.

The captain did make an announcement and advised all passengers to take seasickness medication. People were dropping like flies at the early dinner seating and you had to hop around all of the towels on the floor to get out of the dining room.

I think the waves were 12 - 20 foot and called "very rough". The winds were "gale force".

As far as the incident with the porthole being scary...only those directly involved knew what was going on. We didn't hear about it until several days later.

We've been on over 20 cruises and this was the roughest sailing we've ever seen. My DD5 said it was like Rockin' Rollercoaster!

I was on this sailing too. When we posed with Captain Henry for our photo, I asked him afterwards if there had been any sightings of the Black Pearl to which he replied, "After the waves that first night, there may have been!"

Yikes!!!

Thanks, of course this is of no comfort as we are on the same deck in 2 days on the MAGIC!!! Let's hope history does not repeat itself.

Hi All,
We were on that cruise as well and sat with the people who had to be evacuated. Only one of the 2 families got moved. There was no room to move our friends. Swells were 14-16 feet. Some say half the ship got sea sick that night. Most of them on deck 2. While I was sitting at the Promenade Lounge one wave hit the window. It was very rough if you ask me.
