incidence of stroller theft??

Just wondering........for those of you who have rented strollers through Orlando Stroller Rentals or Magic Strollers.......how often does theft occur with these strollers? My DH is terrified of renting one from there and having it stolen. I know they offer theft insurance, but is it truly necessary? The company stated that the strollers are well-marked as a theft deterrent........any comments?? Thanks!!

I didn't worry about it myself. It is true the OSR strollers are well marked. They put your name on a laminated sheet that is attached to the back of the stroller with zip ties. They do offer insurance in case of theft, however I do not think it would be necessary. You can buy a stroller lock for less than the the $25 they charge. Just be sure it is a lock that only locks the back wheels so a CM will still be able to roll the front wheels if they need to move it. Really, very few strollers are stolen at WDW. I believe it is more common that someone accidentally takes the wrong stroller and then once realizing they have the wrong one, they park it somewhere else and leave it rather than taking it back. This is why it is good to clearly mark your stroller. With my Maclaren Volo (which seems to be the stroller of choice for many parents at WDW!) I had the plastic manufacturers bag the stroller came in in the storage basket. I just took it and tied it around on of the handles. Having a big plastic bag tied around a handle made it stand out really well, even more than a balloon would have! I suggest bringing something to tie around a handle to make it stand out.

I looked at this too, doesn't seem very common. someone noted what I think is a great deterrent, make sure to get a diaper (even if you do'nt use one) in a plastic bag hanging from the handle. who wants a dirty diaper when there are 40 more to chose from.
