Incentives after Jan

I'd like to know this too. I really, really want BLT.

We are going to WDW next week, and I'm taking the tour. We have 160 points at AKV, but I really, really want BLT. I should have held out for BLT when I bought AKV, but i was afraid it would be prohibitively expensive. My dd loves AKV and the animals. So it was not a bad purchase. And when I bought the 160 points I thought we'd never use that many. Now it turns out we could use more. (Since I am a Disney addict and can't stay away... )

I'm torn between buying now, and getting 2 50-point contracts with the current incentives, or holding out and seeing what's offered after Jan 15 (not buying at all should also be an option, but my inner child is very, very loud! ) My UY is October so I'd have to have an Oct UY for BLT. New members are getting UYs much earlier in the year. This is only a problem for the first year, but I hate to pay for something now that I cannot have for 10 months.

Okay, I've rambled enough and I apologize to the OP for hijacking this thread. I've been obsessing with this for days now, and I guess I needed to vent. But I really do want to know what the new incentives will be.

would reconsider you 50 point contract - got two 60 point contract.

with 60 points you can stay 5 days in a standard view studio - choice and adventure season.

with 50 points it would be 4 days. Now know you only intend to use them together - but if you have to sell one.

My UY is October so I'd have to have an Oct UY for BLT. New members are getting UYs much earlier in the year. This is only a problem for the first year, but I hate to pay for something now that I cannot have for 10 months.

No matter what the UY, nobody gets to use their BLT points until the resort opens, which is scheduled to be September, 2009, or so, anyway.

As for incentives, I'm wondering if the January 15 date will coincide with the announcement of GCV sales. The BLT announcement was made at just about the time that the best AKV incentives ended. That makes me think that the BLT incentives will not get better, at least not in January.

Since the minimum add-ons for BLT are going up in January, I'm also guessing the "ncentives" will be meager looking compared to the current ones.

That makes sense! as they may be doing incentives for VGC, they maybe don´t make better incentives for BLT. But in the middle of this economy, no one can predict anything.............

The economy has to have some impact. I just find it hard to believe that folks are still purchasing. I REALLY want to add-on, but I know it is not a good time. Obviously, DVC doesn't agree -- but as I've looked at the resale market -- it appears that over the past several weeks there are more and more contracts available. I'm struggling with how the price increase makes sense -- at least right now. Oh well..........

I did buy 370 points. I sold all my other contracts - VWL, BCV, AKV. The points were gone for 08 and 09 yet only took a hit on VWL. Overall I made a profit.

If I have a June use year, would I get 2009 points to use between the opening in September and May 31, 2010? How long do I have to cancel a contract after I agree to pay points? Can I purchase two 65 point BLT contracts on January 14th and cancel if the incentives after January 15th are better for me?

I believe if you're buying new that you have to buy a minimum of 160 points, but double check on that. As far as the incentives..........I just recently bought and DVC told me that if I don't send the paperwork back until 1/15 that they would allow me to choose whether I want the pre 1/15 incentives or the post 1/15 incentives.

My guess is that the post 1/15 incentives won't be better than now because sales seem to be decent (despite the economy) as they're raising the point minimum effective 1/15.

The minimum buy in for a new owner after January 15 will be 200 points.

We already own at BWV and have a June use year. So I know that I can add on 130 BLT points after January 15th, but will I have to have it in one 130 point contract after that or can I still have two 65 point contracts.

We are waiting until our trip in May to purchase. I really want to see the BLT and AKV rooms first hand. I have to imagine that with this economy the offers will at least stay the same or get better. I am hoping I am right but I could be wrong. Right now we are leaning towards BC or BWV but I love the idea of a later expiration date so I am hoping either BLT or AKV will blow me away.

I have to say we were hesitant on BLT, and bought SSR. We, too, wanted to see them in person. When we got there and took a tour, we really liked BLT! The pictures don't do it justice! It will be a very nice and comfortable resort! So we added on 25 points so we could go for a few days once every three years. We love SSR, but I would imagine we will stay in different places, as we tend to go during off times. Advice to all - if you can, see BLT for yourselves!
