Can someone please explain the $5/point incentive and is it available for "first-time" owners? Or is it just for owners wanting to add-on?

Thanks!

Here is what I understand.

1. They told me you had to book while at WDW. Not sure about first time buyers or adding points.
2. Its for purchases at BCV, since they aren't making it available until later this year. Basically you are buying your points at $70 per point instead of the current $75.
3. You also have an option to select from a free vacation week, depending on the number of points you are purchasing. There are a few restrictions and the stay has to be consecutive nights.

All in all, I prefer the $5 rebate option, since we are locals and I don't do full one week stays, I am a weekender or long weekend Disney person.

Anyone else, please feel free to add.

Whether or not you have to be at WDW depends on what state you are from. If your state has not approved the sale of BCV yet (NY), you have to be at WDW to purchase. We bought our points from the comfort of our living room in Alabama :).

It is available to new purchasers. As the previous poster stated, you have a choice of $5/point or a free stay at certain WDW resorts (some restrictions do apply). As has been stated on this board, this promo is subject to being pulled at anytime.

We bought our BCV points over the phone and took the $5 discount instead of the free nights.

Points go up on June 1 from $75 plus you probably won't have the incentive anymore then.

We are first time buyers who bought over the phone...took the free stay. We start using that a week from tomorrow.

Another first time buyer here who bought over the phone and took the $5 off per point incentive.

FYI.... If you are doing the Disney Financing, in order to get the better (1% point less) financing you have to purchse within 30 days of doing your tour.

We did everything over the phone in Colorado. We haven't closed yet. We took the $5 rebate. We were told once we took the rebate, we couldn't change our minds. Betty told us we can't call back later, and change from the rebate to the free accomodations. She told me that a number of times. So, make sure which one you want to take before talking to a guide.

Okay - Does anyone know (off the top of your head :o) if it is allowed in Oklahoma? And if you decide to take the $5 rebate option do you still get your current years points? I am REALLY trying to talk my husband into this and the more ammunition (uh information) I have the better :o)

WDWorBust - I believe it is available in Oklahoma since I emailed my guide and told him we wanted to add on before the incentives are dropped. He emailed me back and said he would stay in touch but DID NOT say that it wasn't available in Oklahoma. I would think he would have told me if it wasn't available here yet. He said he would stay in touch since the sales were going so well and they could drop the incentive at any time.

As for the other question, the incentive is basically for those buying although the resort isn't open yet. So you get the $5 per point incentive and your points as well. Just kinda a perk for buying before you can stay.

Good Luck!
Lori

I forgot about Okiedisney's post. It is definetly available because they bought at BCV.
