Inauguration Gala

How much does a ticker tape parade down Broadway in lower Manhattan cost? (not that there has been one since 2000 :headache: )

Grow up people. You ( with the exception of a few) don't care that this money is NOT going to the poor..you are foaming at the mouth that this black, non citizen, friend to terrorists, liberal, socialist, communist, Hitler-like man is about to become Preisdent of the United States!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

That pretty much sums it up in a nutshell. I think I would have more respect for them if they did just say flat out, "I hate Obama and will not like any thing he does or that is done in connection with him". and stop with the hypocrisy. Of all the things that we have blown money on, this is the least of our problems.
The country that is in at least 1 trillion dollars of debt before he is sworn in, now all of a sudden it's un american to spend this money. Oh and excuse me if I'm wrong, isn't there a large segment of dissers who keep saying that the recession is a figment of our imagination and that the media has caused it? Aren't these the same people the ones saying if we just got back to stimulating the economy and turn off the tv, life would be honkey dory again.

There you have it, the Inaugeration is stimulating the economy.

Just a nit, Eliza... rather, the Bush administration is handing the Obama administration a budget with a one trillion dollar deficit (not "debt" -- the debt is much larger, many trillions of dollars -- $10,613,904,888,048.13 to be precise).

Ah good point but since Obama will be president that day, everyone here will come in and start threads blaming him for that.

Let's face it. People are going to rag on him for everything he does. He can't win. The people against him would love nothing more than to see him fail. It's sad but it's true.
I predict a lot of the future "ragging" on Obama will be from many of his supporters in the election. So, far, for Conservatives the Obama Administration is shaping up to be a "best case" scenario. He warned us about how the election might result in a continuation of Bush's polices into a "third term", but little did be know how true that would be when he won!

Precisely my earlier point. When that happens, it will be something worthy of note. When it doesn't happen, then it is basically something not worthy of note. I know I've got my rapier at-the-ready (though I'm more likely to criticize Obama for being too anti-business).

Whatever Noone is going to rain on my parade. I am planning on going this Saturday to see him, he will be at the Wilmington, DE train station for about an hour to pick up Vice President Biden and his family.
Fingers crossed I will get a chance to see him :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

To which Obama has said "The sky's the limit!!!" and "Warp 10, full speed ahead!"

That comes with the territory of being an American President... Bush (and his supporters) can give you some tips on how to cope with being blamed for everything under the sun (and over the sun, for that matter)!

So the Left's complaints against Bush should have been similarly discounted then, eh?

Just like with Bush.

You just need to grow thick skin.

You're assuming this is causing us coping problems. Actually we are doing fine-but thanks for the love:hug: .

Your kidding! :scared1: Jeez, louiz I seriously thought 1 trillion was bad, thanks Bicker for writing it out with numbers, I just yelled across my lab to ask how many zeros were in 10 trillion.

Tell me again why we are focusing on an Inuageration.

So no difference between Bush and Obama with regard to the deficit, or really the economy, so what will be different? Hopefully, at least, Obama will stop the plummeting of American prestige.

What's wrong with pointing out a little inherent poster bias?

The reality is that that the discussion thread comments I referred to (comments criticizing something related to Obama from clearly recognized Obama supporters, and comments praising something related to Obama from clearly recognized Obama opponents) have so much more credibility than discussion thread comments from any other sources. Pretty-much all other comments can be dismissed as either opportunistic, misguided, politically-motivated, etc. Why not highlight some of these unequivocally impact-ful comments? ... or the absences of such impact-ful comments, which itself highlights how much of a non-issue this really is.

I get what you're trying to say Bicker, and I'll try to accomodate..

I am not an Obama supporter and I didn't vote for him. I knew the inauguration would be a huge giant party. Inflation happens and things are going to cost more now than in 2005. Plus, many people donated funds for it. So, as a taxpayer, it should not matter to me if he spends privately donated funds as long as the donations happen according to law, rules, etc.

Personally, I think it's tacky to have a huge, giant, over-the-top party at this time in our country's history (war, recession, etc.), but it's his party and if he wants to be over-the-top, he can.

(Bicker I really tried...really!)

You failed. :(

But don't worry. The point is that this is a non-issue. The fact that there is yet-another comment from someone who was not an Obama supporter, trying to make this sound like a bad thing, only underscores how there really is nothing to all this.

You should be blamed when you've caused so much turmoil for this country. He has the worst approval rating in history. (20% at one point which is lower than any other recorded president). That says something.

Anyone going to watch Bush do his FAREWELL Speech tonight??? All I have to say is Bye Bye :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:
