Inaugural Western 5/11/02 Who is going?

This will be our first cruise and we can't wait. With all I have learned here, I think I have everything all set and shopping is just about done (at least that is what I tell my husband).

Hey cmatt we were on the Magic last Oct and had to race a tropical storm. I do not think I want to play tag with a hurricane. It was really rough just on the fringes of the tropical storm. Guess that is partly why we are not going this year in hurricane season. Might try to talk DH into an early Dec 2002 cruise with the munchkins - provided their grades stay up. If we do we will book on board for the extra saving.

DH is bringing his tux. Last cruise he got three nights wear out of in. Both the formal and semi formal and at palo's. Thank goodness he has more than one shirt for it.

Is the shopping ever done?? Have to get started packing tonight. Only 3 packing days until we leave.

ScottH - Garry did not get to do his open water dive. Originally he was told it was two dives in one day now they say two dives on two seperate days. So I guess no diving for him this cruise. All his new gear will remain new. Know any good snorkling spots in GC?

I forgot to mention that I have 72 bottles of bubbles for the sailaway party so those that haven't yet gotten them don't worry I think I have plenty. They are the small wedding favor type but just the right size for us. Let me know if I should get another box (24/box).

See everyone in 12 days +

Vicki

My dad is doing well. Still don't know if they are going to cancel coming on the cruise. Will know by the end of the week.

We looked into moving to a different date and all of the Western cruises from now till August are booked as far as getting Cat. 6. We would be just fine getting Cat. 8 but the cost is more than what we paid for this one. The Spring Time Magic discount on this cruise really brought the cost down. So, my parents have convinced us to continue on with our plans. DH and I will still be going regardless if my parents do or don't. Of course it won't be the same.

DH and I have been on 3 other DCL cruises (3 day, 4 day and 7 day Eastern). This will be number 4, we are hooked and love DCL.

For those wondering, DH is bringing a black suit.

Thanks for the tip about ship not selling gum, I totally forgot about that.

No matter how hard I try, I just cannot get below my 6 bag limit. Granted I will only have one carry-on, but I really was trying for 5 checked bags this year.

Well the first phase of packing is complete. I can't pack Matthew's clothes yet since he has to wear them to school. I also have went to the store for all the sample size stuff, just got to pack it, the camera and our Birth Certificates.

Also you guys - please remind me next Thursday to make sure Mike's dress shoes make it into the luggage.

Okay, run down as I see it from the last two pages.

We are first time cruisers. Disney offered a huge discount to active duty military after 9/11, we jumped at the offer. The Colonel was nice enough to give the DH the time off, here we are.

DH is bringing a brand new black suit, two shirts and ties and a new sport coat to go with the two new pairs of chinos.

I'm wearin a couple of dresses I got on sale last year. I've lost weight, I'll look fantastic in em now!!!!:D :D oh yeah, and two dozen pairs of shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe, we can be e-mailed at Njtreese@aol.com. Please send the list so I know if you've got all of our info.

We borrowed suitcases and I've started to throw all the stuff in em!!!! What ever happened to steamer trunks? I could use a couple of em right now.

;)

Off to bed, class in the morning. I don't wanna go, but they're paying me. What's a gal to do?

I luv disney cruise, tell Pop to keep gettin better, we're prayin for him. It'll be a drag if he can't go with us, but his health is the most important.

Hasta Manana,

Terry, Pat and Ian

My mother wanted me to tell all of you that she really appreciates the thoughts and prayers for my dad. It really touches her to hear them (thoughts and prayers).

So BunnyMom, I just noticed you said DH is active military??? Why doesn't he wear his dress uniform on formal night. A few have done that and it was soooooo cooool. Of course all the ladies get goo goo eyed when they see men in uniform, so it might be safer to have him leave it at home.

TnRobin- thanks for the suggestion. I mentioned it to the DH but this is "vacation" for him too. He wants to leave the base behind for a week. Can't say as I blame him. It has been 10-12 hour days since 9/11 and he deserves a break. Proud as we are to serve our fine nation. Besides, he's gonna look too good in the new suit already. The dress blues would just make the women too crazy!!!

I luve disney cruise- tell your Mom she is so very welcome. Prayer changes things. Your Pop's health is what matters!!!

Less than 13 days now gang, can't wait to meet you all on board!!! Look for us, we'll be in the "low-key" shirts!!!:D

Anchors Aweigh!!!!

Terry, Pat and Ian

BunnyMom: Air Force, huh ("Dress Blues")?

I'd bring mine, but I haven't updated the thing in about 8 years and it's completely out of regulation (the Uniform Board changed everything). Actually, they changed everything, changed it again, changed it yet again, changed it back to the way it was to begin with, then changed it again! Job security, I guess! :D

Anyway, I can't blame your DH for not wanting to bring it, although if he has a Mess Dress uniform, you don't get to wear that one too often!

Anyway, take care and God Bless the U.S.!

- Jim

I luv Disney... Glad everything went well and you can make the cruise, hopefully they will be able to if all is well.

Hey Scott H, you still ready for a little "big kids on Mickey Slide" planning? I figure we'd better come up with a good acronym to sell the idea to as many adults as possible. How about:
"Covert Mickey-slide Operations for Night (C'MON)?"
That settles it then...we'll call it "C'MON." Now we just need a plan...
I know Joe will be there to document our historical attempt.
Think someone mentioned that they know how to turn on the water...
One of the computer techies is gonna hafta dub in a dummy video of an empty water slide on the security monitors...
It's coming together nicely, don't you think? ;> :smooth:

hey ya'll

when your stateroom host or hostess asks if it is your first cruise don't admit it is DH seems to think our first hostess skimped on a few things once she relized we hadn't cruised before.

tkdLisa are you bringing enough gum for all or just you and Garry?

Joe the hat is a surprise but I will say it is a one of a kind and even without the shirt NO one would miss him.

I luv Disney Cruise glad to hear dad is doing well hope he continues his recovery and is able to join us on the cruise. Will continue to keep him in our prayers.

Robin - I wish I could have six bags. I'm used to having eight bags but that is with the kids and without them we only get four bags. I guess I will need to go get another really large duffle bag. DH could pack everything into three large duffles and a garmet bag if the airline didn't limit the weight of the bags.

Haven't gotten much packing done as I have spent the majority of the day trying to recover from a nasty upper respiratory infection. Joe I wanted to try your recommendations but wasn't sure how the BF would react with all my meds. No work for me tomorrow. staying home in bed!!

have a great week all only 12 days!!!!

 :earsgirl: Vicki :earsboy:

GarRy wants to know if he can have iceberg watch either from the bow of the ship or from the "foxhole". How many others yet to fill?

Hi Folks:wave:

I LuvDisney Cruise: You tell that Pappy of yours he just won't be the same if he don't cruise with us folk. Ya'll know what I mean...laughter is the best medicine next to the prayers, so get him up and at em boys he's cruising...:bounce:

Cmon is a great thing.....got to rev up the documentation tapes. Have a night picked out? A CM can be bribed I think. As part of the "substitute crew" we should be able to find out how things are supposed to work just in case right? :smooth:

AF Mess Dress? Wore it on the last three cruises. Joanne put a stop to it (ha!) The looks one would get;) Nah, I will just do the jacket thing.

MJASP: on those "All Air Force Personnel... Do the names Macchia or Mahony sound familiar" sound familiar but I am not sure why?
Not from The Griff by chance?????? upstate NY? I resent the LIST
Do you have EXCEL at work or home? Works better with EXCEL, I will play with it and see if I can get it on one "got your glasses handy" page. I will also bring some to the port in my 9th suitcase:jester:

OK We are getting ready right? Everyone a little ship whistle...cant hear ya! (listening) still cant hear ya (listening harder) stop now I can hear ya! Cya soon:D

For those having trouble with the list. Set your printers to print in the landscape mode under print options

Hope for :sunny: days

Buzz,
C'MON... I like it:p So it shall be. Will start recon patrols when we arrive and maybe at the sailaway. I have an escape route planed. :smooth:

Garry can have the iceberg watch, just as long as he doesn't get it confused with iceburg lettuce.

I lv DCL: great to hear things are going well, thought and prayers are there.

Vicki, good idea on what to tell the stateroom person.

We got a good start on packing and learning the digital camera.

I was ready for bed but now am wide awake. I don't know why but the Jacuzzi always wakes me up.

Hi Guys,

Looks like a lot of military on this cruise. My husband Active Duty Air Force 15yr in.

Joe, thank for the list!

See ya'll Soon!

Angela:smooth:

Geez...I am gone for one day, and I miss almost 3 pages...

Went to Busch Gardens in Tampa yesterday...that was fun (VERRRRY crowded). They were having one of those deals that you pay to get in and you get a free annual pass...To good to pass up.

Don't much feel like workin today...Didn't get in until very late last night...oh well...noone will notice if I fall asleep at my desk... ;)

Not up for witticisms at this point in the day. Will check back later when the fog has lifted from my brain a little...

Only 11 days left...

I CAN'T WORK AFTER SEEING THAT COUNTDOWN TIMER! I better not lose my job or we won't be able to book #2. This will be our first cruise -- wanted to do WDW too but thought it would be good to immerse DD (3 yrs old) slowly. DH is bringing a tux and I'm glad to see that people will be wearing them on the semi-formal night b/c we were tyring to figure out how to pack a tux, a suit and maybe a sport coat without taking up too much of MY space! I'm sure you men know that all but a tiny corner of one bag is for your stuff and the rest is for the women! Joe -- our email is mlkmob@aol.com -- I don't know whether I gave that to you or not and we're in room 8012. Just ordered stuff for DD from Shirley at A Perfect Gift and she was SO nice! I told her how much we appreciated her info on Key West. I'm ready to GO (except that I haven't shopped or packed yet and you all are making me nervous about that)!!!!!!!!!
