Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

I can't register until everyone comes up with their respective team name as we definitely want that on the bib. We will have 5 teams in all and I want to register us all together. Alot of money at one pop but this trip was my Christmas gift to everyone.

Does anyone know if you can get the Coast to Coast medal for this race and DLR? I don't think you can. I have a call into Disney to see if you get it, but I'm waiting for them to get back to me. I know of a lot of people (on other boards) who are talking about doing those two races under the expectation of getting that medal. I wouldn't want them to be disappointed.

I find it funny because I know it is down hill, but when I look at Broad Street I don't think of down hill. I do a lot of training in Valley Forge. THAT is down hill (and up hill, but I block that part out).

OMG that reminds me of the underpass we had to run, on the princess route (under the water way going to the contemp) OMG it was death!!! it felt like 90 degrees uphill!!

Much rather do downhill - plus I am hoping that I get a better time for the Food&Wine in Oct!

Does the entry fee include any park tickets?

The fee for the Half and Half relay include entry to the Finish Line party at Epcot 10/2 from 10:30pm - 3am. Friends and family will be able to purchase a ticket for this party as well.
The fee for the 5k includes a ticket to MNSSHP.

There are discounted tickets and tickets with park hoppers available for purchase (they are actually pretty good prices).

HTH! :wizard:

Hi everyone! I'm thinking about signing up. I did the half in January and the Princess in March. I would love to go back, but wasn't sure it was in the cards this year. As fate would have it, there is a conference at WDW that starts on Oct 2nd. The university I work at is in seriously bad financial shape, which means my boss can't afford to send me to the conference, but it sure makes it easier to justify the trip to my DH. ;) I waiting to hear if I have to take more furlough days (so far we have to take four) before I sign up. I just think it would be cool to do all three half marathons at WDW in one year.

Can you purchase these online anywhere? I hadn't heard about that yet! Glad we didn't buy our tickets already!!! :thumbsup2

I think it's an option once you register for the race. I haven't registered yet but saw where you enter a code to purchase them.

Hi everyone! I'm about 85% sure I'm going to register for this. I LOVE running at night and it would be a dream to run through WDW at night :goodvibes. It would be a long weekend solo trip for me. I don't think I'll be doing any of the parks. I have a pass with a bunch of "extras" on it if I wanted to go to the water park on Friday or Saturday during the day but other than that I plan on just relaxing. I was also thinking of just doing CS at whatever resort I end up staying at or eating at DTD but are these places crazy this time of year (if free dining is offered again)?

Touring the resorts is a good way to kill a day without going into the parks. I'm going down solo too and staying with some people from the Podcast board. The only reason I am even going into the parks is because I am using my Give a Day - Get a Day pass.

The CS at the resorts are hit or miss traffic wise. A lot of people hit them on the way to or from the parks but they aren't overly busy during most of the day. I have no idea what the plans are for Friday night yet but if you want to join us for dinner you are welcome. I'm going to push for Boma but I don't know if there will be a meet (WISH or Podcast) or anything like that. Shoot me a PM when the race gets closer.

If I end up doing it, which seems unlikely, I'll probably just get a one day ticket with a hopper, to use either Friday or Sunday. Saturday I think I'd sleep super late and hang around the resort, maybe go to the GF spa!

That sounds great! Thank you! I will. And thanks for the help. I know I have at least one day left on my pass (a 10 day non-expiration pass I bought in November '08) but I don't know if it'd be worth using when I'd probably enjoy just reading a book by a pool/beach just as much. I was considering making a couple ADR's but I think I would feel more comfortable eating at a CS place more so than at a TS place when I'm eating by myself.

I will definitely be sleeping in on Saturday! (I say that now but I know I'll be popping up at 8 a.m. unable to go back to sleep, so more likely an afternoon nap will be happening that day :) ). Hmmm...the spa doesn't sound like a bad idea...

Does anyone know - if you stay in a non host resort, can you still ride the transportation if you get to a host resort? For example, if we stay at boardwalk villas (no-host resort) , and walk to beach club (host resort), will we be permitted to board the busses there for race transportation?

That should not be a problem as long as you are staying at a Disney resort. At least with Boardwalk you can always walk home from Epcot. We will have a similar problem. There are 10 of us staying in a Grand Villa at OKW and were wondering if we can get back home if we take the bus to POFQ. Worst case scenario we'll have to hire a couple of taxis to get back. Does anyone have any opinion on whether or not this is doable?

Trying to figure out how full the 1/2 marathon currently is. I know usually once it reaches 50%, Disney starts to post the percentages but an email I got yesterday said registration is filling quickly. Are they just trying to get everyone to register and collect the money? I am going to try and call Disney endurance today.

They are probably just trying to get people to commit. Once it hits 50% I'll find the money and get registered. DLR isn't even at 50% yet.

tHANKS FOR THE HELP...NEVER RUN A DISNEY MARATHON BEFORE! iT MIGHT BE EASIER FOR YOU GUYS TO WALK TO AN EPCOT RESORT AFTER, AND GET CAB FROM THERE AS OPPOSED TO TRYING TO GET A CAB FROM RACE FINISH WITH EVERYONE ELSE.

Does anyone know if any of the host resorts are filled up (as far as they're out of the promo rooms)? I really don't want to deal with having to get a cab (especially riding one by myself at 3 a.m.) so I was thinking it would just be easier to stay at a "host" resort (since I really don't want to rent a car either). I see they have special pricing for the host resorts and was open to the Poly or Beach Club. Also, when I call to book, what do I need? A confirmation number that I've registered? Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure about how filled they are with the special rate. Check around though. You might be able to find a better rate on your own. When I called just to check and see what the AAA rate would be it turned out I had a pin code attached to my name that I had no idea about. I booked one of the host resorts (Beach Club) for about 35% off. The deal was much better than the rate Disney Endurance was offering.
