OK I don't want to start a fight (I am weak) but I have read on another thread about inapproraite pubic displays of affection.
I wonder what these are.
I mean I would never full on snog/french kiss my husband in public but I was wondering what else may be considered inapproriate?

when you need an air tank after you kiss might be PDA. 2 men kissing is PDA. 2 women kissing is PDA. every person is different when it comes to PDA's. some people don't like seeing others kiss in public (i'm thinking they are jealous)

There doesn't NEED to be "anything else," a full on snog/french kiss in the midst of other guests is inappropriate enough.

And when it is done for several minutes at a time, it is INTENTIONALLY done to attract the attention of others "for effect."

Anything else physically that is done in the privacy of the home or bedroom in regards to interpersonal affection (some would say "foreplay,") and beyond, should certainly be kept PRIVATE.

At WDW, I have only SEEN the "super-sucker-pucker" kissing...
but I have read on sites frequented by Cast Members that there are all kinds of idiots who "think up" great places to prove they are "in LUV" in public Disney locations.

Ah thanks for the clarification lol.
I think my hubby and I are quite touchy feely always holding hands and hugging.
We dont kiss very often in public and def never french kiss in public.
Sometimes I pinch his bum (oops)

I'm just asking for clarification. NO fight starting. It's Ok for a man and woman to kiss? Thats not PDA? But if its same sex it's PDA? I thought a kiss, is a kiss, is a kiss. I mean you can even see so in the Little Mermaid. "Go on and KISS de guuuurl"

I think hand holding is PDA. I think its ok to hold hands. No matter your sexual orientation.

I don't PDA myself. Not even holding hands. So I think its safe to say that everyone has an different kind of opinion as to what PDA is. I guess the best we can do is try and always be considerate of patrons around us. :)

The terms are getting blurred.

PDA (public displays of affection) can be any kind of glance, wink, touch or spoken word that indicates affinity between parties. Many are not considered impolite in the least.

But INAPPROPRIATE PDA's are what most of these kind of threads are about.

The level of inappropriateness varies by location, time of day, and the "eye of the beholder."

I like that summary. Very fitting. So lets all be on our best behavior. :)

This subject really burns me up. I think there is no place more inappropriate for PDA than Walt Disney World. This is a place where families are supposed to come and re-discover the magic and wonderment of youth. How is that possible with all the PDA'ing going on.

I mean, really, do we need to have everyone walking around with these things? They go to such great lengths for the decor, everyone should be appreicating that.

That's what I thought this was about!

Nevermind.

To me, holding hands is fine. As well as a quick peck on the lips. But no french-kissing. This applies to opposite sex couples as well as same sex. What is inappropriate for a same sex couple is inappropriate for an opposite sex couple. Makes no difference.

I don't know how to same the next part without sounding totally wierd, but are we the only family who gives each other a quick smack on the rear as a sign of affection? It is kind of our "hey you!" So if you see a group of 6-10 people smacking and pinching each other, that would be us. Hopefully we ar not offending anyone.

I used to live in Japan, and over there ANY form of affection between two people (except for maybe holding hands) is expected to be kept in the bedroom. Hugging is not even seen often.

That said, I guess I just still have that mentality and I can't stand -any- form of PDA (besides hand-holding and hugging, and perhaps a little kiss between married couples) in the general world.... so I would probably just get overwhelmed especially if anyone did that at Disney World... it's just not the place for it. I'd probably throw popcorn at them or something :rotfl:

But that's just me.

I totally agree. I promise you'll see NO PDA'ing going on with us while in the World:rotfl:

Quoted for truth.

It's quite hard to determine 'inappropriate' as a majority standard. To me, PDA is not about 'public' display, but it should be about 'private' display.

Holding hands, smacking on the rear, pecks on the lips, kisses on the neck, cuddling, hugging....that's fine, to me, but to others, it may not be. (Why, I do not know...). Making out, as long as secluded, is fine, for me, too. Just, not during the middle of a show where it's distracting to others.

Bumping and grinding is okay at the clubs, but at Disney...please, no!

Wait - I thought that was my family!!! Glad to know we are not the only weird family out there! :goodvibes

Public Displays of Underware seems to be a growing problem. ;) Sometimes you see the thong pulled way up, then after a closer look, you realize it isn't pulled up much at all, it's just that the pants are cut so low you need a Brazillian wax to avoid inappropriate exposure.

No, you're not the only ones. We're a butt-smacking kind of family too. :lmao:
As far as PDA goes, I think if someone's getting *ahem* "excited", they should probaby save it for their room. :cool2:

We smack rears in my family too, so you are not alone. All three of us, DH, DS (age 13) and me use it the same way you do, as a "hey you" sort of thing. I never really thought about it, but I suppose it is a bit odd. It's our thing...what can I say? :confused3
