inappropriate??

I'm going to DL tomorrow, and up until I read this thread, I wasn't planning on going on the Matterhorn. Now I'm gonna have to look for that coat of arms.:rotfl2:

I'm no parent, but as a family studies/human development major, just know that most children go through a phase where they're pretty obsessed with body parts in general, it's part of their learning process/beginning to understand their own bodies. The preoccupation with genitalia, I think, is probably because as a society we make such a big deal out of it xD "Secret" things that make adults awkward are FAR more entertaining than regular things lol ;) It's weird to me that some moms even mentioned it to you...goodness, a bit uneasy are we? xD

In less helpful news, this topic is hilarious, and I now need a picture with Tangaroa. :rotfl:

I disagree about it being inappropriate. What is inappropriate is the boys constantly talking about it and upsetting other guests.
Its nothing more than they would see at the zoo or where any animals with reproductive organs would be.
No big deal.

If we were standing in line and noticed it, we'd share a chuckle, and move on. If we heard anyone else talking about it, we'd chuckle with them. I'm not sure why other guests were upset about the boys noticing it and pointing it out, but I know OP had mentioned that. Boys are boys, they are going to say what is on their minds. I don't think they were acting in appropriate, they were just noticing their surroundings.

Serious? It is a coat of arms. You should have used this as something to educate your children about rather then to feed into their imaginations.

I guess it depends on how many times they repeated it around people.

I know when I was that age I liked to repeat a line from the movie Kindergarten Cop that dealt with private parts. My parents and family didn't mind me repeating it the first few times but after the 100th time or so they got very irritated. I can imagine strangers would have been even less tolerant about it :rolleyes1

I agree with Skiingfast. I see NO issue with it. We've ridden that 50 times in the last year and haven't noticed it once and had I looked I wouldn't have thought "wow there's a naked man". If my kids were old enough I'd explain and that'd be it. We wouldn't be chatting about it all day. I have to ask...since when did a naked body become something so evil and bad? It's not like it was a naked man and woman together getting it on. I guess that's a whole new thread lol

Where else were there naked bodies? I dont recall seeing any and you've only pointed out one instance?

OP, I fully sympathize, having considerably younger cousins myself (I turned 25 a few weeks ago, and my youngest cousin is 5 months old). You don't really feel like you can discipline them because you're kind of on the same playing field (generationally-speaking), and you also want to be hyper-protective of them because they're like younger siblings (except they aren't as annoying because you don't have to deal with them as often).

Wanted to empathize with that as well. With cousins...it's just weird to discipline them. In my dad's family, the oldest son was already married and about to be a father by the time my dad, 3rd youngest, was born. So 1 of my first cousins is quite literally my dad's age. Talk about weird! And on our WDW trip we were with cousins, and one of the cousins is 8 and will still be 8 on our next trip, my son was 6 and will be 7 on the next trip, and the other cousins are ow 5 and 4. I can discipline my son...I am not going to discipline my cousins! Tell them that they are being gross, sure, make sure they don't get killed on a ride or a bus (or a crocodile), obviously, but I don't really have true authority over them...
