So I took my little cousins to DL and while we were in line for Matterhorn the kids noticed pictures like this:

I found this really inappropriate and they were talking about it the rest of the day how DL had private parts everywhere! I had moms get mad at me to make the kids stop saying things like that but I mean there is only so much I can do and it wasn't like they were lying!

I am wondering why they didnt try to paint over that or anything. :confused3

And it wasn’t the only one either. I do find it pretty unsuitable for the parks and the family environment it holds.

I am guess that is a copy of an actual coat of arms, which may be why it is more anatomically correct.

What do you mean there were private parts everywhere, though? I really havent noticed...

Thats funny! I'll have to look for that on the next trip! I'm sure if you reported it to city hall it would be replaced the next day!

Frankly, I had to look at the picture quite a while to even try to figure out what you thought was inappropriate about it. Still don't see a problem with it.

Wow, most kids would never notice something like that. How old are these kids?

I am not sure what the issue is, it's a coat of arms not a pornographic image.

I don't even think I would really notice. It doesn't seem to have and dirty meaning behind it whatsoever...

Sry it was such a distraction during ur trip...:sad2:

I guess I don't see the problem. They are going to run into a lot worse than that in a lot of advertising, books, etc. Sounds like there needs to be a discussion about "private parts" and when it is okay to discuss them. Everyone has 'em! Best to acknowledge it and move on then pretend it doesn't exist.

Sorry if it impacted your trip, but I honestly don't think it is a big deal. :confused3

Okay, I have ridden the Matterhorn many, many, many times and I never noticed or even tought that it was inappropriate. Which side were you on, Tomorrowland or Fantasyland?

One coat of arms = private parts everywhere? :confused3

Unless you can show me examples of excessive amounts of private parts, I think you and your children are way too sensitive if you think this is inappropriate.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I think too and I couldn't see making an issue out of it. There's far more worse things to see just from the guests in what they wear and say out loud. I would have moved on and not let it impact your trip.

I've never noticed that one before but yeah, they should probably take that one down. I agree with OP...not appropriate. I don't care if it's an authentic coat of arms or not. What has that got to do with whether something is appropriate or not?

I would not let that ruin my trip. If something like that happens, distract them, ignore their comments, and they will stop. That is the main principle of extinguishing a behavior.

What I find innapropriate is editing history because it doesn't fit todays standards. Censorship always does more destruction than help.

Huh. I've never even seen that before. Weird.

I think it's kind of funny they chose that coat of arms in the first place, but maybe it has some significance? I don't see the problem with it. I'll have to look for it on my next trip.

My guess is these were pre-teen boys - they really hone in on these types of things. We took my boys to Italy about that age - came home with MANY pictures of naked bums, though after a while of ignoring it, they lost interest.

Just for giggles, I searched for info on that coat of arms. It dates back to the 1300s and is the coat of arms for The League of God's House. DL has actually cleaned it up a bit - the original is quite a bit more graphic. :scared1:

I, too, would be interested to see all the other examples the OP found at the park.

I see nothing inappropriate. As far as your children talking non stop about it, you are the parent, you tell them to stop, they should stop. Doesn't matter if they were "not lying" as you put it. The only thing inapproriate is the fact that your children would not stop talking about it when they were clearly upsetting other park guests.

Good point. My cousins are 3, 5, and 8 and I guess I am just not used to the whole parenting role yet and really havent taken them places by myself a whole lot. It was just uncomfortable to me I guess, but learning experiences!

It was just other coat of arms I found! But I am glad it is cleaned up some! God knows what would have happened otherwise

But yes you are right, it was like they were looking for it and I just think the fact they found it in DL was a reason they went a little crazy about it.

Just caught me a bit off guard.
