Inappropriate topic 420?

You guys also have to remember that a lot of the guests coming to WDW come from countries where these substances are not illegal.
A lot of guests? A small percentage, perhaps -- not "a lot". Regardless, when I visit foreign countries, I tend to research what is and is not permitted, and where I'm unsure, I ask.

I'm not saying they were the brightest crayons in the box - but they were still shocked.

Maybe it was CM's! haha.

so that's how they stay so happy :lmao:

actually, once years ago, i smelled some on the jungle cruise... i think the fella at the very back of our boat took a quick hit! :smokin:

It's funny you mentioned this. My DH is a cigarette smoker and is always looking for smoking areas. We were on our way out of Epcot, after DH having a beer from each country when he stopped to have one while we listened to Christmas Carols. When he returned he said he saw someone smoking pot. I blew him off, no one can do that at my WDW. :sad2: I thought he just had one to many beers. :p I guess I will believe him next time.

I have never smelled it, but I would report it if I ever saw anyone doing anything like that. You can't do much if they have already done it.

I was at WDW last weekend with friends and we were walking back to the GF self park. 2 or 3 cars passed and someone said it smelled like pot. We walked a few more steps and a couple walking the other way said the same thing to each other. We turned around and said we thought the same thing!

I thought I smelled it one night at Epcot on a trip a year or two ago.

OMG....NEVER, what an awful, inappropriate thing!!!

Oh please!! What if someone were smoking it for medicinal purposes?
Heaven forbid!!

Before you blow your moral gasket, remember, it could be for medicinal purposes.

if it is they why are they at Disney world.
Um, because even ill people are entitled to go to Disney World, or anywhere else on vacation they feel able? Now, if you mean, why are they smoking in the parks, that's a different story (and yes, Bicker, I know marijuana's illegal in Florida no matter why one is smoking it :))

Question to the parents whose kids have asked "what's that smell?": What do you tell them? I know what I'd say...

I'd probably just say "smells like something is burning doesn't it?" and go on.

So - what's your answer?

We've been going as a family since the early '80s and have always smelled it.It's not us,:rotfl2:, so someone has. I don't have a problem with it. People are going to do it so why get my drawers in a knot? All those times I did smell it,I never told anyone in charge. Why rain on someone's parade? And before I get flamed have any of you had a little too much to drink and drove anyway? I'm not here to judge anybody and I don't think it's right for anyone else to either. It's not like they have a knife or a gun. They're not shooting up.

couldn't have said it better myself :thumbsup2

Never seen or smelled it. I assume most people keep it to their hotel rooms.

Never noticed it either. Wouldn't surprise me if I did though. I mean most people there are on vacation and (gasp) some people smoke pot. C'mon people it's Disney World, not the Vatican! :rotfl2:

So THAT'S how they got the idea for towel animals! :smokin:

It's illegal, and anything illegal is inappropriate, of course.

Come now, you can't really think that black and white, can you? Laws would never be overturned, we'd be at the mercy of a small group of decision makers. Works in a totalitarian society, but here? Clearly, you must believe that some illegal activities are improperly so. And, in that case, actually appropriate - just not legal at the moment. Prohibition is the first to come to mind.

Never seen it being smoked, but have smelled it in passing, many times at WDW.
My guess is they were on their way to a food cart :teeth:

Shades of grey apply to matters of opinion, like moral and ethical decisions: Reproductive choice, for eample. The law, however, is black-and-white.

Laws would never be overturned
There is nothing wrong with objecting to laws, and working to get them changed, as long as you comply with them in the meantime, or gladly suffer the punishment for your violations.

Prohibition is the first to come to mind.
Eliot Ness targeted illegal breweries during prohibition. Once prohibition ended, he was known to drink spirits.

That comment in itself is judgemental. And no I don't ever, ever drink and drive. Not even one. Too many friends lost to drunk drivers.

Ok, I'll agree that we've all done stupid things at one point in our lives. However, their are certain places that require a greater degree of self control. I wouldn't have sex in a church and I wouldn't crack jokes at a funeral. Many adults enjoy Disney World, but on the whole it is a place for families and children. Smoking pot is currently illegal and kids should not have to be exposed to it. I'm glad you draw the line at "shooting up", but there are a lot of things between that and pot. Maybe you would be ok with people doing lines at Crystal Palace. I say if someone is not responsible enough to avoid illegal acts around children, then they should be reported. :charac2:

Smelled it a few times, paused and took a great big deep breath!! ;)

Actually, we did smell it in WDW, and at Busch Gardens along with just about everywhere we have traveled to all over the country with our kids. We tell our kids what it is.

Then DH and I have a little chuckle as marijuana was common place when I was in High School 25 yrs ago in California and it is one of those smells that triggers memories.
