In your opinion, what is the least fulfilled room request?

I always request any floor but the first floor.
I usually end up with a first floor room and have to stop by the front desk for reassignment. I'm still trying to figure out whose bad side I'm on...

I have had every room request granted that I’ve asked for at POR. 2nd floor, close to lobby, and late check out. It probably helps that we’ve only ever gone in Feb.

In order to guarantee requests for connecting rooms, they'd have to do one of two things: make connecting rooms a bookable category (like they used to do with bunk bed rooms), or make the reservation system able to reserve a specific room when a reservation is made (which it currently cannot do).

As it stands, without either of those things happening, there's always the possibility that there will be more requests for connecting rooms on a given day than there are connecting room pairs at a resort.
You bring up an interesting point. Why don’t they book rooms like on a cruise ship where you choose your exact room? Seems like that would solve all the request issues since you’d know exactly what you’re getting.

They could also offer an “I don’t care what room” option at a slightly lower cost that would be assigned on check-in.

If the specific room you picked was unavailable for some unexpected reason when you arrive, they could upgrade you or offer some other make-good just like they would normally.

The technology obviously exists to do this and it seems like it would make a lot of people happy.

Don't mention a floor number. Just "upper floor" or "top floor". I think a lot of times they miss the negative word or phrase (not, anything but, etc.) and just focus on the number.
I always ask for upper floor or top floor. Still doesn't work most times....

Probably asking for a specific room (i.e. Room 572) is the least likely to happen since it greatly limits the chance for success. Most other requests can be met by SEVERAL rooms, increasing the chance of availability.

I’ve had good luck requesting a list of 5 or 6 room numbers. I’ve got park view at Grand California several times.

On a cruise, everyone arrives and leaves on the same date, makes it easy. At WDW, you would have a bunch of rooms empty for dates in between reservations.

I have always gotten the request I’ve really wanted! (Knock on wood) I usually keep it to only one when it’s just my fiancé and I because I’d like my chances to be higher. We usually just ask for a specific location. But when traveling with family and having three separate rooms we have asked for first floor connecting rooms and have gotten them two out of three times (all star music and movies) the third time when we stayed at the poly we asked again- this time for a specific building (Rarotonga) and connecting rooms but only got the building we wanted. Our rooms were all on the same level just spaced out which was fine. Personally, I call a week or so before my reservation to put the request in and I let them know which one holds priority. They’re always as accommodating as can be.

The one time I did not get my request was my 2nd stay at POFQ when I requested "not ground floor" - and of course got ground floor. I think the other poster was right who said don't use the word "not" in requests.

I took the room they gave me, though, and found out that I love Ground Floor!

I stopped making any requests at POFQ because it's so small, I found I was happy wherever they put me.

At Pop, I ask for 70s and have gotten it both times, once Preferred and once Standard.

Disney would have do completely revamp to same-length stays only. Everybody would have to book seven or whatever the fixed number of nights is, and start and end their stays on the same day.

Never, ever gonna happen.

How familiar are you with Disney and their technology? People still have struggle with MDE, the Disney web site, and even with getting their Magic Bands to work. I can't imagine what kind of strain on the system it would be to have people trying to pick exact rooms.

Last fall we stayed at Pop - requested upper floor, in the 70's or 80's area.
Was assigned first floor in the 50's section.... Front desk fixed it on arrival and we had a great stay besides that.

I've requested adjoining rooms at POFQ, we had 3 rooms total. They were all right in a row. At POLY we requested adjoining and we were in different buildings!!! (that stunk) BC we just had a standard view, but got a pixie dust upgrade to balcony/lake view.
:jumping2:

And yet somehow people manage to pick their own room on cruises. Including the Disney ones!

Not necessarily. You pick your dates and it shows what rooms are available for that length of time in the class you want. I mean, that’s what happens currently, except it’s someone behind the scenes assigning your room - but they are still bound by the dates you picked.

Not necessarily. Hilton brand hotels allow me to pick my specific room from the rooms that will be available on my check in day, regardless of how long the stay is. But, you can’t do it until the day before check in. I have only had an issue one time, when a maintenance problem occurred in the room I had picked and they moved me to a nearby room. Disney would have to make some substantial changes to their computer software, but it wouldn’t affect length of stay (at least up to the 14 day limit on some of the reservations).

I make mine vague so they're easier to meet, and I let the CM know what I'm trying to accomplish and then they can help me better than if I give them some specific request. And always make sure the request is available within the room type.

Ex: in lake view room @ BLT I requested to be able to see the parks in the distance because it was my son's birthday and that would add some extra magic. There are a lot of lake view rooms like that. Some people will request "room ending in number xx" to get a room with the view they want, but that is just too specific. If they can't honor it, they put you somewhere random. But if you let them know what you're after, they can help you better.

At art of Animation I requested to not have a long walk to buses because my mom had a foot injury.

At por, we requested rooms that could see each other's door so my nieces could run back and forth between rooms and we could watch them all the way.

All of these requests were honored. We really don't go in "peak" times so that probably helps.

Sounds like the way to go.

In the last 5 trips, twice we asked for a specific room and they granted it (one was 1 door over). When we've asked for ground floor they've granted it. We pick rooms that aren't closest to lobby or transportation (we like quiet rooms/views) so that probably works in our favor.

I like TP's resort feature, especially being able to see the room view. At POR, we requested a specific 3rd floor standard view that actually had a slightly better view than the 'preferred view' room next door. We were happily surprised our request was fulfilled! At AoA they gave us the next room over from our specific request on 1st FL.

As most people want to be near the main building and buses, myself included, this is good to know.

We have not had very good luck with special requests. We always opt for a perferd room so we are somewhat close to the lobby.

One request that we find the easiest to get is if you are travelling with another group your rooms are close together

Since you can eat at any of the other resort's food courts, I'm wondering if you could request one of the Mighty Ducks' buildings at the Movies resort and get the request filled. My thinking is that you could walk across the street to the Music resort's food court, unless that isn't permitted. Just thinking out loud.

Yeah, lol. You look closer to the Music food court than your own :)
