In your opinion, what is the least fulfilled room request?

All Disney resorts except Fort Wilderness have connecting rooms. I think that's true of pretty much every hotel.

You know, all rooms turned over only on the sam day (like on a cruise ship) they probably could. But when you have, potentially, 3,000+ rooms being checked out and into every day, and stays of one or three or seven - up to 28 - nights, you really can't do that.
agree and disagree and understand there is a lot that goes into it but they could if they wanted.
They don’t seem to have much issue moving me when asking at check in yet struggle to get me closer before I get there?
Come on now, if my room isn’t ready at the time of check in and you know __ person is checking out, it doesn’t take much to say we will put you in that room once it is ready vs just assigning another room which also isn’t ready.
it isn’t like they are giving me rooms ready to be in and feel like they are doing me a favor by not telling me nothing is available.

anyway, to be on topic, I understand it is a request, I understand it’s not guaranteed but I take the risk knowing the rewards of extra space, two bathrooms, and stuff vs cost is worth it to me.
”location” be it connecting/adjoining, first floor, or close to ____ seem to be the most requested from my experience and reading here

You also need to take into account that absolutely nothing about your resort reservation is guaranteed to begin with. Room categories that can be booked are not guaranteed, and Disney does and has (raising my hand up here) downgrade people.

It is best to make a request, but not depend on having it met. If you simply have to have connecting rooms, then you really are better off booking a suite of some sort. If you can make it work and want to save the money, then go with 2 rooms and request connecting.

I make mine vague so they're easier to meet, and I let the CM know what I'm trying to accomplish and then they can help me better than if I give them some specific request. And always make sure the request is available within the room type.

Ex: in lake view room @ BLT I requested to be able to see the parks in the distance because it was my son's birthday and that would add some extra magic. There are a lot of lake view rooms like that. Some people will request "room ending in number xx" to get a room with the view they want, but that is just too specific. If they can't honor it, they put you somewhere random. But if you let them know what you're after, they can help you better.

At art of Animation I requested to not have a long walk to buses because my mom had a foot injury.

At por, we requested rooms that could see each other's door so my nieces could run back and forth between rooms and we could watch them all the way.

All of these requests were honored. We really don't go in "peak" times so that probably helps.

Want to add, if a specific room is that important to you, book it and pay the extra money to guarantee it. We made all of our requests knowing our trip would still be perfect if they weren't honored. We were legitimately surprised when we got to see the park from our lake view room.

In my 20+ visits to WDW Resorts, we have probably received a specific room request never. They have honored sections of resorts, floors, and room types at times.

In the last 5 trips, twice we asked for a specific room and they granted it (one was 1 door over). When we've asked for ground floor they've granted it. We pick rooms that aren't closest to lobby or transportation (we like quiet rooms/views) so that probably works in our favor.

I like TP's resort feature, especially being able to see the room view. At POR, we requested a specific 3rd floor standard view that actually had a slightly better view than the 'preferred view' room next door. We were happily surprised our request was fulfilled! At AoA they gave us the next room over from our specific request on 1st FL.

Say you're staying seven nights. You call or visit the Front Desk because you want a different room (type, location, view, whatever.)

The CM moves you to a room assigned to a party staying two nights. Then they not only have to move that party, they also have to move the party that was assigned to that room the day group one checks out.

Room assigning at WDW has been compared, pretty accurately, to a game of Tetris. And there is still the absolute fact that the only thing any guest is guaranteed is a room on property.

I feel like whenever the online options include specific buildings/sections, we get a room literally on the other side of the resort.

As for connecting rooms, i guess we're lucky in that we always get that. In fact, one time we didn't request it and still got it. We always do online check in at the same time as the other party, so that maybe helps?

In order to guarantee requests for connecting rooms, they'd have to do one of two things: make connecting rooms a bookable category (like they used to do with bunk bed rooms), or make the reservation system able to reserve a specific room when a reservation is made (which it currently cannot do).

As it stands, without either of those things happening, there's always the possibility that there will be more requests for connecting rooms on a given day than there are connecting room pairs at a resort.

There is no way to do that.

This sounds simple but it isn't always.
Caribbean Beach is running into this problem a lot right now. People really want to be located not far from pools/food, but also close to the skyliner. Neither the water view, nor preferred, nor pirate rooms accomplish both of these things.

SOME of these rooms do, but so do SOME of the standard rooms.

you also cannot book adjoining rooms anywhere, and not everyone can afford a two bedroom.

In my experience, and it sounds like everyone has some different opinions here, I think the building requests are the most difficult to accommodate. The only reason I think that is because we RARELY get a building that we have actually requested. Having a first floor room is something that we ask for quite a bit and they are pretty good at accommodating that. Although, now that I'm typing this out, I suppose a lot of those requests also have to do with what resort you are staying at. 🤷‍♀️

I agree with PPs that there's not an answer to this. Even if 100 people before you received their request of "near elevator", it doesn't mean you will. Your chances are the same regardless of how frequently or infrequently the request is fulfilled. It depends mostly on resort occupancy and how many people they have checking out/checking in. As PP mentions, its very much like Tetris where they try to fit in people based on what they have booked, while taking into consideration room requests, while also trying not to have a downstream impact for future room assignments with future incoming guests over the next few days/week.

You can always politely ask the front desk for a room change if you are unhappy with the one assigned. Again, no guarantees they can give you what you want. But the fact they will change rooms for guests who are unhappy is another reason why people sometimes don't get a room they have requested - they will bump the pre-blocked rooms and move them elsewhere in order to make the guest in front of them happy.

The more specific the request, the harder to fulfill.

I've always had my request met and I've never gone to the desk about it. I nearly always only request "upper floor". For safety when I travel solo, I do not want a ground floor room. The exception was the last time that I stayed at Pop. I was traveling with my husband and in-laws and room refurbs were in process. They're tall people so I wanted the new rooms. So, since it wasn't a solo trip, I put the same requests on both reservations, for the decades I knew were renovated and made those decades my only request. I linked the reservations but didn't request adjoining rooms; we are all adults. We got adjoining rooms, in one of the sections I requested.

The more wiggle room you give the room assigners by making your requests general, the better off you are.
