Like many of you, I have nostalgic love for attractions long gone. When they closed, it was a while before that little rip in the Disney magic healed up...and sometimes the scar remains. I miss Mr. Toad, the sky buckets, 20,000 Leagues...then I stop and think that, wow, some of these were pretty dated (looking at you, Food Rocks). In YHDO (your humble Disney opinion), which attraction closing resulted in the most improvement with its replacement?pixiedust:

Winnie the Pooh I think is a good replacement for mr toad. I mean, who doesn't love that tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff?

What did happen to the sky bucket ride?

Gone. Called the Skyway by the way. Enjoyed that a lot, and will enjoy it again at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in a couple of weeks--not many parks have them anymore.

Anybody who rode the Toad.

I DID ride the toad. But as far as Disney goes, Winnie is a more well known character. I honestly as a kid didn't know who Mr toad was except that he had a ride at Disney. I would have loved having a pooh ride as a kid.

As much as I LOVE Pooh and one of my favorite characters is Eeyore, I still grieve the loss of Mr. Toad. I have such great memories of that ride! It still depresses me. :sad2:

This is a definite reason why we keep going back to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I missed the Skyway at WDW but Busch Gardens is an okay replacement.

Ok so it is Busch Gardens that still has them. I remember riding one about 5 years ago with DH and it must have been at BG Tampa. My Dad will be disappointed when he goes to Disney, he loved those things

I'm not sure BGT even has them anymore, I think it's just BGW.

Oh! You mean there was once a Mr Toad ride at WDW and they replaced it with that annoying Pooh ride? Given that the Pooh ride now stands where my beloved Country Bears were at DL I'm not feeling very happy with Disney right now, and even less happy with Pooh.

IMO, here are a few examples of a replacement attraction being an improvement (not to imply that the original was bad):

World of Motion -> Test Track
Circle Vision 360/Time Keeper -> Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
Captain EO -> Honey I Shrunk the Audience (sadly EO is back though... an argument could also be made that the original "Magic Journeys" was better than either of its successors)
Mission to Mars -> Alien Encounter (but then took to steps back with Stitch)

Some really good posts on here so far. I have to say trading World of Motion for Test Track was a pretty good swap. I have not gotten a chance to ride the new version (going 6/16!), so my opinion is dated. The Skyway was a liability AND was frequently closed due to winds/weather. A worker lost his life at the Fantasyland station prior to park opening one morning...that pretty much sealed its fate. The worst change? When they took Figment out of Journeys into Imagination.

Figment I still there, dream finder is gone.

Bummed to hear the Skyway is gone but I can still smell the stench of chlorine from 20,000 leagues and I haven't been on it for 21 years.
