We were skipping NYE, but heading to Vero Beach on Jan 4 for a RCCL cruise which begins on January 6. We may live in Ohio, but prefer FL or cruising in January.

My friend was encouraging us to look into DCL's NYE cruise on the Dream with them, but it would cost about $2900 for DH and me in an inside cabin for 3 nights!! So, I looked at availability and OKW had a studio Dec 31- Jan 4, which gets us to Vero Beach before our RCCL cruise which was how I planned originally so, I booked!!

The 30th was not available, ( Surprise!) and that would be our preferred first night, so I wait listed it. We'll stay off site if it does not come through. We changed our flights. We'll have to get the no blackout APs again, but hey, it's cheaper than the cruise!!!

Who else is planning NYE?

My preference is to go to DHS. We've been there once before on NYE, and I'm thinking with the new SW fireworks, maybe they'll up the bang on the NYE fireworks, we'll see.

I'm surprised there was a room available for NYE! Have a grand time, Bobbi!

We are booked at BCV Dec 30 until Jan 6. Our APs will expire Sept 10 and we don't plan on getting new ones for the NYE trip because we still have non-expiring tickets available to use so we don't have to worry about the black out dates. DH really wants to see the fireworks at Epcot. Any thoughts on MK fireworks on the 30th? Toyed with the idea of going over to TOWL but heard that is blacked out too.

I think I have 2 non expiry tickets, I hope I can find them. I wonder how many days are on them. Glad you mentioned this.

Yes, Dec 30 is blacked out at TToTW for DVCers not staying at BLT. One year, we rented a Wishes Pontoon boat from WL Dock to see the midnight fireworks. The charge was more than a non holiday, but less than the NYE charge. I posted on Theme Parks Community here, and we got the 8 others to fill the boat. It was an excellent experience!

Twice we were on NYE Illuminations cruise. Price comes to about $100 per person on NYE.

There was a one bedroom BLT LV, December 30 and 31st sitting there for hours tonight. It's interesting to see what goes in and out.

Have a wonderful time Bobbi.

Thank you lisaviolet!

I looked briefly at 1 bedrooms, but point costs were too high. I want to book Aulani within this current UY, and already I am borrowing from 2017. If I make a mistake and don't have enough points for Aulani, I would be in trouble.

Congrats! Nice to hear you found the reservation. I am I correct in recalling you've been very lucky that way with DVC? No complaints here either:flower1:

Ours is listed on MDE, maybe you could look there and you may not have to physically find the cards/tickets.

Good luck locating your info.

I've been lucky with 1 night waitlists. Have gotten added nights to each end of our July visit. This was very fortunate since I had holding points!

Glad you're happy, too!

So, the night of the 30th came through, we have 5 nights in an OKW studio!

ADRs can be made beginning July 3. I suppose I will see if DH will try for a fireworks cruise for the 30th like we did a few years ago.

We will be at OKW on 12/31 and 1/1. The rest of that week we will be at our house in Orlando. This will be our third consecutive year at that time. There are seven of us, me, DW, DD, DSIL, DGS, DS, and DS's GF. Last year, we were at MK on 12/30, and they had the regular fireworks at 6:30, followed by the NYE fireworks, and a special holiday ending -- it was the absolute best fireworks show I have seen at WDW on our over 80 trips. And the grandson was able to see them without having to stay up until midnight on 12/31. On NY, we went to EPCOT, but us old-folk took the GS back to the room around 7:30. The kids stayed and did what 20-something kids do at EPCOT on NYE --- drink around the world (responsibly of course). They loved the set-up, with all the bands and bars that pop up around 7. Fireworks were fabulous also.

Bobbi, I know you probably don't want to move on vacation. And your OKW will probably come through but there's.... (decided I'm going to post the find in a PM!)

Just in case. :music:

Hi!

The OKW night came through the next day! I was looking at my options, and there was a note that I could wait list. Well, I knew I had 2 wait lists, so I called MS, and sure enough, I now had a 5 night OKW stay.

I just got VGF for the first three days in January. I had found four days in a BW SV -one bedroom earlier this week. It sounds absurd to go back to a studio, but I just love those studios, I'm anxious to try the Standard view at VGF as my other stays have been LV.

Also, the trees over at the BW SV are becoming so huge. I know me, I would be so irritated if I got a "branch view". Smiling.

So anyone looking - BWV SV one bedroom for January 1-5 is now sitting there.
Good for you!! And you did not need VGF points to book it! We have a SV studio VGF for our Nov/Dec trip. We do not have many points there, and have only stayed in SV studios.

Now that I have put a vacation together, I am trying to tweak it, so I am on the DVC availability site a lot!!

How were your views Bobbi (SV VGF)?

Some of them look very nice.

I took off my previous find, because someone snatched part of it up instantly! Laughing. Didn't want to frustrate anyone.

We were close to the corner of the building, no memorable views. A waterfall, perhaps.

I fell asleep about an hour before they started this year. I think I'm getting worn out!
BTW Bobbiwoz, you will LOVE the transatlantic- best Disney cruise EVER!
