So, my question is if your in the DCP, and lets say your gf is graduating in JUne, can you fly back home or is there strict rules once you sign with Disney you cant leave. Example would be a holiday too and other legal obligations. What if your signed with another company under contract and need to fly out once in a while?

You need to provide full availability, but if you're not scheduled to work you don't have to stay. You can request off, give away shifts, etc.

I don't want to give a definitive answer, just in case things have changed in 3 years or it varies by location, but...

I did! I was feeling a bit homesick, so I decided to surprise my mom for her birthday (I was also able to save up enough to do this). In The Hub, I just selected Monday-Wednesday as regular work days, and then Thursday (I flew out around 8 am on this day) and Friday were my "weekend" and I requested Saturday off. I flew home on Sunday, but was able to easily give that shift away to one of my friends.

A few of my friends also flew home (one of them a couple of times) with no real issues. And another one of my friends was graduating from culinary school so he was able to fly home to attend that (and was gone a day longer than I was).

Last spring my sister graduated from high school and I had requested the day before day of and day after off. They only gave me the day of and day after so I had to give away the last day I needed. As long as you can secure the time off Disney doesn't care what you do with it including flying out of state. There were several of us who flew home for whatever reason. And one person even took a Disney Cruise during their program with the time that they were able to get off.

You can always trade away shifts too. There is no definitive guarantee it will be possible. As a CP, you're expected to have full availability but they do make exceptions.
