In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Hey wait - what do Kelly and I have to do to get one of those shirts? We don't have to run, do we? :rolleyes1

Ah come on - not everyone is meant to run. And I look so cute in North Carolina blue. :rotfl2:

;)
Awesome Jo :thumbsup2

Over 100* :scared1: Its hit around 85-90* here, which is HOT for this country! :rotfl:

Heres how me and my fabulous niece managed to keep cool today:

097-1-1.jpg

And in case you were wondering - yes, I did slip and fall on my bummocks about 3 minutes after this photo was taken!

So sorry Erika

The whole episode! The worst parts for me were:

**Spoiler Alert - Look away if you haven't seen Grey's Anatomy finale** (yes, I know it is probably just me who is behind! ):lmao:

Meredith losing the baby
Dr Bailey crying when Charles died
Christina crying and telling Owen she couldn't stop operating even when the gun was to her head.

Honestly, if I never see that episode again it will be too soon!

Hope everyone is having a great day! :upsidedow

Where do I begin?

First, let's play a game. Let's call it "where is the FAT on Kelly?". :lmao: I win. I picked nowhere! :rotfl:

Second, Grey's. Smiling on the warning. No country is as slow as yours. ;) I was REALLY affected by Miranda's scenes with Charles. The not dying alone. I thought about those who die/died alone. Okay, I need to stop.

And the chief. I UNDERSTOOD every word. Some people on the DIS thought it was as simple as him being "chief like" again but it was so much more. It's like a gift - probably the ONE gift - for going to very ugly places in life. There's no fear of certain times. And understanding of when you've been places in your head and heart well.......

Also, it really got me Kelly. I have timeshifting here. So the East coast is an hour ahead and west coast three hours behind. And I accidently turned on the East Coast in what should have been the second hour (it wasn't and I didn't know ) and I could sense from the mayhem that the shooting had just started. SO when I sat myself down for this area's broadcast I thought "oh it doesn't really all START until the second half - I can relax". And then - no BOOM. I think I sat with my mouth open for over an hour. Liz left a link to the head writer's thoughts of why she did all that. It helped my shock. I should find it for you.

Bummocks. Love it.

Sorry about the ride getting cancelled. :(

My run was fantastic. It was about 80 degrees at 6:30AM with 85% humidity, overcast and a sprinkle or two.

I felt as good in mile 11 and 12 as I did throughout. It's really nice to have a pacer for these long training runs, as I am sure I would have burned out without it.

I am loving the Galloway program, for the companionship and the people and the friends I have made already, but also for forcing me to train slow. I think it's the main factor in how little pain and even soreness that I have. Like I feel it a little bit later in the day but really not bad at all. We did the 12 miles in about 2:55, as 2/1 intervals.

Lisa, I quoted you but somehow it got lost. Anyhow, I am not a baby, I am pissed off and cranky as he!! when I am sick or injured.

JO!! So proud of you. Awesome!!

Visit with the in-laws... well, about as well as expected. I did get a TON of fresh blueberries I picked off their bushes (3 large freezer bags worth), so at least there's that.

Now, drinking. Real beer. Yeah, I know. See above.

Fantastic on the bold Kat! :thumbsup2

Oh you are all so nice. A lot of the details I shared with you guys are not details I shared with most people but I knew you'd get it. But I appreciate that you all took the time to read it.

E- I'm so sorry.

I will most likely be wearing a pink tank top with white and purple specks on it. I'll have my hair in braids and be wearing black shorts or running capris. I'll be sure to find you!

Nancy- Had they had water I probably would have stopped to pee more but not taking in water meant I had nothing to pee out. (So unhealthy I know.)

Kat- I'm sure whatever poor reports you heard about the race were correct. I read that the Wishers who did this race also encountered the finish being taken down early. The facebook page for the race series has been filled with a lot of talk about how poorly this race was run.

I'm so glad you seem to really be enjoy Galloway and your training group. My mom keeps pestering me to join a group and just from what you've said I'm considering it. Have I told you how amazing you are and how I learn a lot from you? Because you are and I do.

Kelly- Do I need to mention (given my user name) that Mary Poppins is my FAVORITE movie. Like honest to god favorite, now every time I watch it I'm going to think of you talking to me like that.

Jo- Great job with the running! Keep it up and you'll get to your half marathon!

Paula- Thank you for the reminder not to have ice cream. So the story is I had a pretty ok eating day then... I had some ice cream. But half way through I thought of you, instantly felt gross and that was the end of the ice cream. It seems I need constant reminders right now to stay away. My exercising is still going great so my big goal right now is to pull my eating back on track.

Lisa- My race report will wait. Hope you enjoyed the beach!

I should obviously be sleeping where I have a race tomorrow. Unfortunately my mind isn't working with me tonight and it won't quiet down. My cousin's wife was in the hospital, they thought she was having a stroke but it turned out to be a severe migraine. She's going to need some physical therapy because it weakened the left side of her body. She's only in her mid 30s and she has two young kids. Its had my mind racing all day. I'm going to put on some bed time music now and just try to stop thinking all together.

Night all.

Geez that must have been scary.

5 mins till start. Looking for Meg. I am running since my volunteer duties are done.

Woozy Erika! Tell us about the kids' race.

Also, the boat. How is the boat?

Sure enough, I turned around and there she was--about 100 yards back! Perfect.

]

That IS perfect. Thanks for typing all that out Erika. Enjoyed it.

Congrats Megan and E!

Good Morning everybody! I'm planning a little road trip beginning Wednesday after my lab work. We are heading to Indy and then looping around to Cincinnati to visit my favorite grocery store. Best of all, Enterprise hooked me up with a very fun car.

I love me a road trip.

Ok, say it with me...Hammered. Tomorrow, back to reality.

Hammered.

Loved the race reports.

Lisa, you were looking for another race report? Well there's no time like the present.

So two weeks ago I finish my half and I decide to pick out my next race. What should fall into my lap but an email about a race in Kennebunk, LOVE me a trip to Coastal Maine. (Vacationland for those of you who don't know.)

I woke up at 5:40 so we could hit the road by 6:30 to give me enough time. I knew we wouldn't hit traffic but I didn't want to cut it too close. I think including a stop for gas it took us about an hour and a half to get to the race. We got there in plenty of time to watch the kid's race which was adorable! There were some little guys that were so cute. And a girl won the whole race, you go girl!

Ten minutes till race time and... oh wait I of course have to go the bathroom. Then with that out of the way I make my way to the start area and I'm taking in all the conversations around me. Well don't I notice this person NOT WEARING HER WISH SHIRT who I know! I was so glad I spotted Erika before the race and we were immediately hugging. I of course already thought she was great but from moment one today I just adored her.

So then it was time to start the race. I did not wear a watch, I think (unless I missed something) there was only mile marker so I had no idea how I was doing for time. But after doing a half just recently it was nice to run this one and just enjoy the sites. I adore running by the ocean, adore it. I ran I'd say for a half a mile with a kid who was about 8 when they had us crossing a lot of streets with traffic. He looked so nervous and I felt bad for him so I kept having him cross the streets with me. (haha maybe its the teacher coming out in me)

I'm coming near the end and I see this bright shirt run out along side of me, Erika is there! She ran with me but then dropped the shirt and I kept running. (As she told me too! I didn't just leave her behind.) I have to say I felt really good running in that last little bit.

So Erika met me as I came across the finish. I introduced her to my mom and my sister. My mom thought Erika is great. (Which she is.) We chatted for awhile before my mom, sister and I decided to head off to get some food and to do a little shopping. (Which we did both. Thought I won't lie the shopping was appealing to me more then the food!) We hung out for awhile and poked around all the stores before we headed home to help out with some work my dad, uncle, brother and cousin are doing on our house. (Maybe that's why we shopped for awhile, delay the time we had to spend working with the boys. haha)

And yes, Erika did in fact give me a goddess shirt which I LOVE! I can not say how caught off guard I was by this and how much it really truly meant to me. I have to say though, we got in the car and my mom was like, that was so nice of her to give you that shirt. She really did think it was great. (haha and Erika did a much better job of explaining how the Wish thing works. My mom thinks its great but she just doesn't completely get the idea. I do love my mom so much!)

So another wonderful day. My mom took pictures and I will share them here as soon as she gets them to me!

KAT--I think it's time for you to post a progress pic!

Word!!!!

Kat - you are so on right now that it is inspiring. Truly...

I on the other hand must hang my head in shame thus week. I feel like a whale because of the junk food I ate and the subsequent water that I am now retaining. Ugh... Why do I do this to myself? I don't get it - I am so on with exercise bug nit with my eating. WT F???? Time to puck up and start over for the umpteenth time right? The day I don't start over is the day I fail right?

Meg - happy to help with the ice cream thing. Let me know what other foods I should be in your head while it is tempting you.

Ladies - awesome race reports! Love it when we get to meet each other!

I have a truly crazy day tomorrow so I sm off to bed.

Ciao' bellas.

Paula, sorry that things are so crazy and that the junk food has won. It beat me a bit last night as well. Hopefully next week will be better.

The RnR race is what is keeping me on right now, and it's totally pride and shame, there. The friend I am going to visit is a fast naturally skinny, and I would like to at least halfway represent.

Meg, love it!!

Okay, E, okay. I will see what I can do this week.

I don't feel amazing, just plodding along the best I can. You are so full of life and potential and I am in awe of your half finish time.

To you it may seem like you're just plodding along but really to me you are seriously amazing. You're taking control and changing your life. And thank you, your comment about me being full of life and potential, it might be weird but that was good to hear.

E- I loved your report, I'm going to save it in a word document with a copy of mine. Love my sister dearly but she's the baby so it's no surprise she was demanding food after I ran. After my half she asked when we could stop walking around! My mom is great, totally goddess material. Oh and me taking my sneakers off after my race? I can't resist being barefoot, or at least in sandals!

Kelly- I think that connecting you and Marry Poppins could only be a good thing.

Lisa- Loved your comments on the rr. Things are just always a light more lively when you're around here.

Paula- You are already in my head when it comes to lots of things and that's great! There were donuts out when I went to get my water after the race, I did not take one. I was pretty healthy today and no ice cream. Day one of no ice cream. Feel free to ask me a lot about ice cream and junk. I need it.

So anyone have advice on taking care of blisters? The ones I got from the half... obviously weren't gone as they made themselves known again today.

Ok off to watch more Dawsons Creek and head to bed. Hope you all have a good start to your week tomorrow!

 Thanks. I guess I did this all once before (2007-2008) so now I just feel like I am a rewind/repeat/hypocrite and it's just a matter of time before I put it all back on again. I am really hoping that this time I can find a way to stick with it, stay healthy, and manage to maintain a reasonable weight.

As to the potential comment, I don't mean it to sound like I am that much older or anything, but 27-28 was totally where things started to click into place for me. Marriage, house, going from that post-college stage and into "adult" life, etc. So many ways things can go!!

Blisters... I got my first one! It's on the end of my 2nd toe on my right foot. I noticed that toe hurt a bit yesterday and looked at it before I laced up my skates tonight and realized it was there.

I know that feeling. I'm lucky that I was very athletic when I was young so this is the first time I'm having to loose weight but I'm still worried I won't make it stick. But even if you've done it before at least you have the will power and motivation to do it again, that's very impressive. And you are so on these days, its amazing to see. (Or I guess read about.)

Oh I know you aren't much older and you didn't really sound so much older. But I think there are times when I forget that my life hasn't passed me by because at times I've taken a different path. I'm 28 and I have plenty of life to live and right now things are good. Even if a few things aren't in place in my life there are a lot that are.

Ugh these are my first blisters and they're driving me crazy. Don't my feet know it's sandal weather, blisters should be winter only type things. But I've been using mole skin, I just wish there was away to make them go away faster.

Loved your RR! :goodvibes

Ok, blisters--my guess is your socks. What are you wearing? Specific running socks? They have to have ZERO cotton in them. It'll make all the difference in the world. Trust me...I'm old and wise (sorry--had to throw that out there with all of you youngsters gabbing about age! :lmao:)

;)
First, let's play a game. Let's call it "where is the FAT on Kelly?". :lmao: I win. I picked nowhere! :rotfl:

see. right there. That's a kind of illness you have :lmao: Driving 1.5 hours on a Sunday morning to run.

I was so glad I spotted Erika before the race and we were immediately hugging. I of course already thought she was great but from moment one today I just adored her.

yeah. She's made of awesome, isn't she? :goodvibes LOVED your whole RR. How're the blisters doin'? Any relief?

 Sadly Paula, I'm right there with you. Summer time. And the livin' is easy. I'm so off schedule it's not even amusing any more.

I am really hoping that this time I can find a way to stick with it, stay healthy, and manage to maintain a reasonable weight.

A-MEN to that!

As for the rewind/repeat, etc - my feeling is, as long as we are fighting the fight we are winning. It's when we throw in the towel and give up that battle for better health that we have failed.

Trust me...I'm old and wise (sorry--had to throw that out there with all of you youngsters gabbing about age! :lmao:)

I'm older, so therefore must be wiser ;)

Ok. Time to get myself out on the bike. Just lookin' at it won't burn any calories!

Good Morning everybody! I'm planning a little road trip beginning Wednesday after my lab work. We are heading to Indy and then looping around to Cincinnati to visit my favorite grocery store. Best of all, Enterprise hooked me up with a very fun car.

Yay for another road trip! :woohoo: What kind of car are you getting?

Happy Monday All.

Kat, I am Amazed by you also. You are inspiring.

EE, Have a great time on your mini vacation, how long of a drive is it for you.

Paula, I agree with Nancy, as long as you don't give up you are still winning.

E & Meg, love your race reports, Meg, so cute in NC blue!!

Nancy, What! What do you mean you don't burn calories just looking at the equipment?????:lmao:

Kelly, I too love Mary Poppins. And Lisa is so right, were's the Fat?????

Lisa, How was the beach?

Busy weekend, Saturday 4.5 run walk, pagent, graduation party, Sunday, Alaina's big bday party.

Stories to tell. Saturday Alexa had a blast, she did not win, but did not care, she got a goodies bag and had a great time.
Saturday at the graduation party, DH's friend who is chef was hired for this party for my uncle. We get there and DH's friend had the grill to close to the house and melted the siding on the house, then he got sick and I had to take him to the ER. DH's and 2 other friends he had called came to help cook all the good. What a day!

Sunday, gave Alaina her new bike (hello kitty) she was speechless. When to the Jump N Fun place, about 20 kids, the jumped for hours, the girls had so so so much fun. Alaina too about a 2.5 hour nap.

I had the best run I have ever had on Saturday, and then Sunday I ate nothing but junk, Pizza, Cake, Chips, Pop, OMG!! What is wrong with me.

Issues I tell you, I have major issues!!!

Thanks for the kind thoughts on the rewind/repeat.

Well, the scale was nice to me this morning! Weighed in at 178.6, a 3.8 lb loss from last week, for a total loss of 40.2 on the year.

Also, I am wearing size 12 jeans and they are even a little bit loose.

Meg, I totally agree with E on the no cotton. I didn't believe her either when I started this, and, well, *hangs head in shame*.

Also, E, I am not sure if you missed this while you were AWOL, but I really can't thank you (and everyone else) enough for encouraging me to join the Galloway training group. :goodvibes

Hi Everyone!

Okay, back to RR numero uno. Kelly, like the game?

I enjoyed the game, disappointed in the Dutch players - very dirty players! I was glad Spain won so all in all a good game!

Hey wait - what do Kelly and I have to do to get one of those shirts? We don't have to run, do we? :rolleyes1

Ah come on - not everyone is meant to run. And I look so cute in North Carolina blue. :rotfl2:

Running - and therin lies the problem...! :lmao:

;)

Where do I begin?

First, let's play a game. Let's call it "where is the FAT on Kelly?". :lmao: I win. I picked nowhere! :rotfl:

Second, Grey's. Smiling on the warning. No country is as slow as yours. ;)

Kelly- I think that connecting you and Marry Poppins could only be a good thing.

:lovestruc

*Eclipse-induced haze*

OMG! I know. She is amazing!!! You know that, right Kelly?

I love you Nancy! But seriously its just good tailoring! Im bony on the top half to just under my ribs (as in really bony shoulders and chest) but a size bigger on the bottom half - thank you Mum for the pear shape! It makes buying dresses very interesting!

Well, the scale was nice to me this morning! Weighed in at 178.6, a 3.8 lb loss from last week, for a total loss of 40.2 on the year.

Also, I am wearing size 12 jeans and they are even a little bit loose.

:cool1:
Awesome Kat - excellent weight loss and double excellent on the loose jeans!

EE - Enjoy your road trip!

Jo - Man that was a busy weekend!

Im just going to sit down to dinner, having done 45 minutes - yes, 45 minutes - on the thigh trainer. Well, I hope i'll be able to sit down :rotfl2:

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Almond milk is made from almonds (duh), but is like soy milk in that it is a substitute for cow's milk. It's about 40 calories in a cup, about half the calories as skim (fat free) cow's milk.

I don't like soy milk at all but I love almond milk.

I love you Nancy! But seriously its just good tailoring!

well, whatever it is, it's working for you :goodvibes

Im just going to sit down to dinner, having done 45 minutes - yes, 45 minutes - on the thigh trainer. Well, I hope i'll be able to sit down :rotfl2:

I'd be more afraid that I wouldn't be able to get back UP after sitting down :scared1: :rotfl2:

Wicked cranky today. Extremely. Insanely. Pi$$-a$$ cranky. :scared: Having a glass of wine while I make dinner. Hopefully that will help tame my inner beast :rolleyes1
