In search of my body...not the one I ate!

I talked to my DH and he said the same thing we all said... Some guys (he's included) just don't know how to say something romantic in that kind of tone and he said that he probably just wants you to know he will love you no matter what shape you are in or if you run or not...

Susan- Things will get better and hopefully a bit easier for you. If I can do anything let me know... I can get you a DL postcard when I go in a couple weeks... :wizard:

I put this quote on my spark page cuz I found it to be inspiring to me... I hope all of you can get something out of it too...

“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
–Walt Disney

I hope everyone has a good night... Mine sucked a little but I will go into that when it gets resolved... Stupid gym and its stupid discriminating personal trainers... At least I had a good salad and I am gonna go grab a pudding cup... sugar free that is... :lmao:

Nite nite all!
Sarah

Thanks, Sarah. My issue is that we have been together for 14 years...the man knows how to write a card...and this was just like...WTH? It just seemed so impersonal. :confused3

What is up with the gym? This sounds like a story that must be told!

Heather, a water pik! Wow.

Susan, I thought I remembered you had celiac. A friend of mine here locally does too and I brought them some food a week or two ago (her hubby is paralzyed from the neck down). It was a real challenge to find gluten-free products to make them some casseroles, so I really feel for you.

I can't run. I wish I could, but the impact is just too much for my joints and feet. I had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and the resulting bone deterioration makes anything high impact not a good idea, anyhow. I was lucky enough to go into permanent remission at 18.

My cardio exercise is elliptical, arc trainer, ice skating, hockey. I can do 45 min on the elliptical no prob, but 5 running on the treadmill and everything hurts... not the good muscle ache either, the hurty bad joint ache. So, I have just accepted that isn't for me.

My parents are in town this weekend, until Tues AM, so I will likely not be around much. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Its a story all right... LOL! I guess I should start at the very beginning (I warn you this is a fairly long story)... Back in the end of December I get an email saying that the enrollment fee will be waived for me for personal training if I sign up now! I was thinking ok thats sounds cool so I call and speak with a guy named Josh who tells me I should come in ASAP which for me was January 3rd because I was going out of town. So I make the appointment and he tells me if I sign up for a year I will get a rate of $20 per session. So I am really excited since I keep asking my DH to work out with me and his workout is totally different. Initially I planned to get it once a week. So we get there and I ask to see Jason (who Josh told me to see when I came... and I even called to confirm I was meeting with him and the time) and he basically takes one look at me (I am not a skinny blond only wearing spandex bottoms and a sports bra... I am wearing black basketball shorts and a disney shirt...) and he says ummm I'm kind of busy let me get someone else to help you... So I think , "great... this dude is judging me by my weight which I am trying to loose" :sad2: Against my better judgment I didn't walk away then... I met with Joe who discussed goals and what not with me and showed me some exercises. He was very nice and we sat back down to discuss fees and what not. My DH joined us since I didn't want to make decisions by myself. I told him about the rate I was quoted and the no enrollment fee and was told I was 3 days too late for that. :sad2: I had to pay a $50 enrollment fee and I had to haggle my way down to $35 a session which I could only then afford 2 a month. Again against my better judgment I agreed and signed the stupid contract. My DH asked if the trainer would be setting up a program for me to do when I worked out alone and they assured us they would. Well fast forward to my first 2 appointments... The first guy Peter didn't not really care and did not write me a program. He showed me 1 exercise for each group and how to use the machines for the 1 exercise (I already knew this as I had going to the gym since October). The second guy Perris gave me a great workout but I still did not get a regimen that I could do for my whole body while I did not see them. The jerk Jason sees me around the gym and never says hi when I wave... I usually get some sort of dirty look... :sad2: I went to ask him if I could schedule to meet with Joe for my measurements and when I walked up to him he basically was just like, "ya what do you need?" and was talking on his personal cell phone. He told the person he was talking to in a very discommoded voice to hold on... HE DIDN'T EVEN HANG UP!!!!! :scared1:

So fast forward to last night when I get to the gym for my personal training with Perris. He called in sick and they canceled my appointment which I was not notified. They claimed to not have my number. Both Jason and Joe were not working anyone out during that time but I still had to reschedule to a time more convenient for them... :sad2: Basically I have to wait a week to go to see a personal trainer and its not even one I wanted to see. :headache: All because they couldn't see me last night and they can't move the already placed appointments... I was not even offered a free session or anything! Finally I asked Joe about cardio. He gave me a workout for the elliptical which was kind of lame. I did more miles but burned less calories than I usually do one the program I found myself... LOL! :lmao: So I think about the situation while I am doing this dumb program and then I get in the truck with my DH and talk it over with him and decide to call the general manager of LA Fitness and I tell him the whole story and of course hes trying to placate me when all I want is to be removed from the Personal Training program without being charged a fortune... So I am waiting until Monday afternoon to hear something.

Sorry for the long post but I am happy to get it off my chest... lol! At least I lost a pound... Must of been the pacing I was doing at Walmart while complaining to the manager of LA Fitness... LOL :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hope everyone had a better Friday night than me..

Oh, you definitely have to follow-up with the manager and do NOT back down. They may think that because you are young they can railroad you. Don't let them do it!

Unless you are at a really good gym, the personal training is usually a scam anyway (used to be a fitness trainer, remember...:rotfl2: I have worked at LOTS of gyms over the years...ok, it was in a different lifetime, but still! :rotfl: ).

They WILL let you out of the contract if you are persistent. After all, it costs them nothing to just delete it from the system. Personally, I would just find a different gym all together. There must be tons in your area.

Oh, I would be TICKED! You really need to follow up on this - because this is just not an acceptable way for a gym (or any business for that matter!) to be run. If this isn't resolved immediately to your satisfaction, one point that you may want to emphasize to the "general manager" is a simple phone call to your local Better Business Bureau or similar consumer complaint agency could cause them a whole lot more hassle than simply cancelling your contract.

Totally agree! Mention the BBB and even the AG's Office. This is unacceptable.

Yay, it is Saturday afternoon and I am sitting here in my pajamas. Baby face is nappping and DH is in the basement with DS3. I actually have 5 minutes to myself...that never happens. However about 30 minutes ago, DH told me you have to see this, so I follow him downsatirs where my DS has his ankles handcuffed togerther. DH is a cop and DS found his handcuffs. Of course it took 15 minutes for DH to find the keys. :confused3

3DK, Men are clueless and truly can't help themselves. :sad2: Enjoy your shuffle and chalk it up to the testosterone.

Heather, a water pik....:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: that is hilarious. Again, they have no clue.

Susan, hang is there sweetie! This has been a horrible flu and cold season for us too. In fact all 4 of us have a cough/cold/flu thing going on and 3 of the 4 of us have pink eye...:scared1: I never thought that I would have pink eye at 36. Don't give up, we are cetainly here for you when you need the support. I am thinking of you and hoping you will be feeling better soon.

Kat, I hope you are having a good weekend with your visitors. No one wants to be around the family of coughing, pink eyed, petri dishes. I might make a trip to my MIL's just for fun...Just kidding  She is being difficult, can you tell?

Dawn, Hoohoober... :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I am stealing that one.

Sarah, Keep us posted on the gym situation. It is a shame you have had such a negative experience. I belong to Bally's and signed up with their personal training group and really love it. I say take Kat with you wioth her hockey stick... :)

Have a great weekend my friends. I am going to jump in the shower while I have the chance.:flower3:

I don't plan to... My father suggested the same thing... He said that if I don't get refunded right away I should call the BBB and the State Attorney General Consumer complaint... he mentioned they could threaten legal repercussions because its technically breaking my contract but I doubt they'd want to spend that much to fight it in court. Oh well... Hopefully I will hear something on Monday. If not watch out... LOL :rotfl2:

Oh Sarah-
That gym sounds horrible and yes sometimes typical. Please do keep us posted. The advice averyone gave was great and supportive and you have handled it well. Go back to the first price offered you and then state you paid more when they changed it on you because that is how much you had valued their offerings and your fitness. It is so sad that many women have been discouraged by the treatment they get at one of those places. Our fitness is our health our life. Do you have a Y in the area, you might want to check it out. Our new one has a 12 or 16? week program for fitness. You handled it well and ate then great.

Well I honestly like the gym itself and the personal training program is another company within la fitness or something... I'm not quite sure how it works but they have 2 different corporate headquarters... I told the guy I wanted to stay at LA Fitness but I wanted to leave the personal training program... So we'll see what happens.:confused3

By the way- He got me a water pik for Valentine's Day! In a gift bag, with pink tissue paper.
I got something that looks a lot like a water pick too :thumbsup2 but I like mine a lot!!!....it is a super sonic, hand held device that requires a back up generator in order for your neighbors not to notice a power outage! If you hear of a black out in the Midwest...don't blame me!! I believe in extra strength Power Grids!! :thumbsup2

Windmill generated electricity don't have nothin on good ole fashion Ben Frankilin!!! Be careful though...powering a faux hoohobber with a key and a kite and some lightning :teacher: could give you a static fro you didn't expect and burnt hair dosn't smell good smokin :smokin: from down there either!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Dawn, Hoohoober... :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I am stealing that one.
Thankyee...I'll take credit and laugh too...BTW...great job about stealing #1000.....you kicked Grumps buttoks and he hasn't even had the courage to post a response....probably in therapy over his de-throning!!! :lmao:

Computer finally working...will get weight listed tomorrow guys...sorry!!!:rolleyes1

I'm reading this board while eating Girl Scout tagalong cookies. I love those things. I must start losing weight. We went to Disney in Oct 2006 and I think I am in 3 pictures because I don't want to see myself in such a happy place looking the way I am. We're going next January (2009) and I am bound and detremined to be in all the pictures looking fabulous. I need to lose 100 pounds and my willpower is not all that strong so I'll be lurking on these boards alot. Good luck to everyone who's on this journey with me.

By the way, if I eat the whole box of tagalongs now and start my diet tomorrow they don't count, do they?

Personally I'd start after the box is finished... lol... But tomorrow is good too... Welcome to the thread also! :welcome: I hope to see more of ya on here... :) Have a good Sunday!

Welcome, Sandi! We are always happy to add more to our happy little bunch! :goodvibes This thread is full of very supportive (and funny!) people all with the same goal of losing weight, getting in shape, eating healthier, and laughing our now-shrinking a$$es off!

Glad to have you here. If you want to introduce yourself a bit...feel free...but there is certainly no pressure!

As for everyone else...where the HECK are ya today? :rotfl2: Ok, ok...I am hardly one to talk, here it is 4:30 and it is the first time today that I have looked at my computer. Sunday is family day in this house, so we usually have a big breakfast, go to church, and then go do some family activity for the rest of the day.

I'll be back on tomorrow morning (but not bright and early since it is vacation week! :thumbsup2 )

FYI--I ran 5x this week! 4 of those runs were for 3 miles, and one for 3.5 miles! Good food week as well. That damn scale BETTER go down if it wants to live to see another day. Otherwise....Oh Kaa---aaat.....:rotfl2:

Oh - those things are pure EVIL! :faint: Definitely get them out of your house or they will constantly be calling your name! :scared:

I have to give myself an "atta girl!" I just went to a baby shower, with lots of food, snacky-stuff, candy....and carrot cake. I love carrot cake. I drank only water, ate a few veggies (naked, no dip!) and 3 crackers with cheese. :woohoo: Now - I have to get a good dinner made, because I go for bloodwork in the a.m. and must fast first...

3DK- Grats on your running!!!! Thats really awesome!

DH and I went grocery shopping today and I got awesome salads at Trader Joes... I love their salads... Unfortunately my fav of theirs is a bit higher in calories than I usually eat for lunch but heck I'll just work out a little harder... LOL! 390 for a pomegranate and goat cheese salad... mmmm.... Thats so lunch tomorrow... I'm so close to being out of the 230 bracket... I think this week will be it! *crosses fingers* I'm getting a nasty cold I think tho... I feel a little poopy but I am gonna go to gym and sweat it out of me... LOL! Have a nice evening :)

Sarah princess:

Hi Everyone...

Sorry for my lack of posts... Weekends for me for the next month and a half are going to be a blur... I volunteer for the Odyssey of the Mind program (a creativity competition for K-12 kids) and it is tournament time. I think I have next weekend off and the weekend of Easter off, but that's it until April.... yikes... I was at a tournament on Saturday and usually the only snack food that they provide is cookies and candies... not good for my diet... I packed some fresh veggies to snack on and after getting picked on by my fellow judges for them not being chocolate based, they all proceeded to eat my veggies.... :rotfl: Who's the smart one now....

I tred to stay close to my eating plan, but did veer off a bit when it came to some chips and a certain peanut butter pie, but I brought my workout DVD with me and walked while I was gone, so I hope that balanced things out a bit...??

As for those Girl Scout cookies.... they are pure evil... Tagalongs especially. I am a former board member for my local council and still help with their properties committee so I can't get away from the darn things... Now I buy the cookies and donate them to a food pantry as soon as I receive them... Still helping the scouts, but no cookies.....

I am off to get my last chance workout in before tomorrow's weigh in. Have a great night everyone and I'll talk to you all tomorrow...

Goof

PS - just found out that my friend upgraded us to a dedicated two bedroom villa at SSR for our December vacation.... I am soooo excited about this... I owe her big time because she is not charging me any more than for the two studios depsite the difference in points...

Ok born2bird has just gained 45 pounds as a consequence for taking my 1000th post.

That's right ladies Kim has been fined.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

There will now be a moment of silence for my loss

Thanks for all the well wishes on my birthday.

I have run away and joined the circus I will not be posting any longer as I am too depressed over the loss of my 1000th post....:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No seriously...congrats Kim on the successful coup you staged.

I am in a hotel hiding from the weather.

You see my poor little Mustang could not withstand the 150 mph winds in the arctic north of South Canada (i.e. Minnesota).

I was the first casualty of the winds today south of Albert Lea MN.

My little orange pony was crying as the tow truck hauled her out of the ditch. But never fear she was a real trooper. Once out she was raring to run again. I had to stable her for the night though at the advice of the local welcoming party (state patrol) ;) :lmao: :rotfl2:
