In search of my body...not the one I ate!

Sarah- keeping your wellness goals during this time displays a HUGE change in habits. Good Job!

3DK- :) proud of you! :woohoo: You look GREAT!

Goof- :cheer2: way to walk! :cheer2:

Kat- enjoy your rest day and match.

Hi All!

Ok, today I would like to introduce you to an old friend of mine...MY WAIST!

Holy crap! I put these new pants on and could not believe how they fit! (Trust me, these are just one of those pairs of pants that you look awesome in even when you are not at your awesomest...) Anyway, I had to snap a pic for all of you...tags are still on! :lmao:

My face is totally goofy here...but whatever. Eventually I will get a decent picture posted!

Erica - YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarah, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Paula you are so right - Erika does look like Kim Possible!

Erika, you look FAB!!! :cool1: Love your waist! And I swear those pants look big on you!

Okay, is anyone else thinking "God, her house is clean!" No? Just me? :lmao:

For the record, making spreadsheets for everything is normal. Totally normal! Right, Liz? ;)

Thanks for all the great gym advice, everyone! Today I went in and signed the papers and got my ID. The only downside is that today and tomorrow were already so jam-packed I can't go until Saturday! :sad1: Emily got to see the play room and she seems pretty excited. First training session is on Tuesday!

Okay, a little OT stuff...tomorrow I am a "Celebrity Reader" at Em's school - I'm reading Make Way for Ducklings to her class. That's cool, I can read. ;) And tomorrow I have my first day of being a soccer mom. :scared1: Okay, seriously, what do I need? I have a chair to sit on the sidelines. I have sunscreen and I'll pack water and a snack for both of us. I have a LL Bean boat tote, which seems like a proper soccer mom bag. I have a book with me at all times, because you never know if you're going to need a book. A camera? What else? Are soccer moms all prepared and stuff? The pros are going to be there - you know, the ones on their 3rd or 4th kid. They always have the right stuff with them.

As for food, I went to a party today and didn't have a cupcake. I think that's a first!

My knowledge soccer mom etiquette is rather lacking. Along with the soccer mom gene, I think!

And no, I didn't even notice the house being clean, because remember, I live w/ OCD neat freak boy! My house is always clean... even my garage is fairly clean.

YES! That's right. Well, your house is freakishly clean, too. I mean, my house is clean. My friends make fun of how clean my house is, but it's not that clean. You two totally kick my a$$ in the clean house contest. :)

I think my soccer mom gene might be missing, too. I sure suck at being a ballet mom. I'm just not nice enough. I guess we'll see, huh? ;)

Ok, I am a professional soccer mom, so I can totally help here!

Chair - check
Snacks and water - check (make sure Em has a little water bottle to keep on the bench where the team sits)

Here is my "must have" for soccer games (and yeah, I got it when I was a "first timer" and saw that this was what all the pros were using...:lmao: ):

I live and die with my Timbuk2 bag at soccer games. It looks like a mini messenger bag--comes in totally fun colors (Sherpa is a similar line that makes great bags as well...some of you have shoes, I have bags! ;) ) Contents of my bag:

--book
--cell phone/Blackberry
--iPod
--camera (not at every game anymore...only for special events)
--extra batteries (other moms love me for this, though these are often in the car tote as opposed to the soccer tote...see below)
--band-aids/moleskin (blisters)
--water for me (kids' water is with them on the bench)
--snacks (for me and however many kids I have at the time)
--small bottle of hand sanitizer
--BUG SPRAY is a must in Maine (again, I am the mom hero with this one)
--safety pins (the shorts are really loose/baggy and my kids are really skinny and they always need one)
--hair pony tail holders (another hero item)
--pen and small notebook (I make grocery or my to-do lists, etc. Or another mom is giving me her phone number so we can get the kids together for a play date...)
--I don't carry sunblock with me at games...we block up before we leave and I always have a bottle in the car (we live in a beach town, so impromptu beach trips happen all the time, thus the sunblock lives in the car)

Will she be wearing cleats? If so, have a clean change of socks in the car plus her regular shoes. Cleats HURT and after the kids have been running in them for a while, they want to get out of them as soon as possible. When you run and sweat, your feet swell...and cleats are meant to fit snug, so once your feet swell, you want those bad boys off...

Being a Mainer, I have about 10 LL Bean boat totes...each dedicated to its own activity, so that when we are going somewhere, I just grab the right tote and we are ready. I keep them stocked at all times. One for the beach. One for the pool club. You get the idea. But the most important one is the one that lives in the car. This way, I don't have to take a ton of stuff with me on the field.

So, I would say you should keep a change of clothes in the car. Especially now. It is mud season. The fields are wet and muddy. They fall. They get gross. I have a full change of clothes for each kid with me in a tote in the back of the car at all times. Plus a fleece for each, since this is such an unpredictable time of year.

The key to being a pro is to have everything you need, but NOT carry it all on to the field. I have only my chair and one small bag. But it is a magic bag. ;)

Have fun! (Now, multiply it by three and welcome to my world. :rotfl2: )

Erika, you look AWESOME!!!! 10 more lbs and I think we will be able to see through you. :yay:

Thanks! I would love to see 10 more gone...I think I will feel comfortable in my own skin then. Why is it that I seem to lose weight from the top down?!?! :lmao: I get to my hips and then it is just wide from there on in... :rotfl2:

3DK- :) proud of you! :woohoo: You look GREAT!

Thanks, Heather!

Erica - YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really!!!!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo: I am starting to feel good about my looks....not there yet, but getting there!

Paula you are so right - Erika does look like Kim Possible!

Erika, you look FAB!!! :cool1: Love your waist! And I swear those pants look big on you!

Ok, Kim Possible wears a BELLY SHIRT!!! Are you aware of this?!?! And my stomach, like my thighs, do NOT see the light of day! :scared1: :lmao:

Okay, is anyone else thinking "God, her house is clean!" No? Just me? :lmao:

What is REALLY funny is that I almost didn't post the pics because my house is a WRECK!!! :lmao: Seriously, DH would be mortified if he knew...:rotfl2:
Like Kat, my DH is OCD like you only read about when it comes to cleanliness. At some point I will have to post pics of the house for everyone...we are remodeling, so we will have some pics soon.

For the record, making spreadsheets for everything is normal. Totally normal! Right, Liz? ;)

A pair of freakshows!
:lmao:

Thanks for all the great gym advice, everyone! Today I went in and signed the papers and got my ID. The only downside is that today and tomorrow were already so jam-packed I can't go until Saturday! :sad1: Emily got to see the play room and she seems pretty excited. First training session is on Tuesday!

Can't wait to hear all about it!

As for food, I went to a party today and didn't have a cupcake. I think that's a first!

VICTORY! :woohoo:

One more thing about soccer, Liz...

I am guessing that since you are new to this that you are not the Team Mom? Cause if you are the Team Mom, then you need a different bag entirely. I'd laugh if I wasn't completely serious....

And Em is about 3.5, right? You likely won't need half of what is in the bag, but you'll relax knowing it is there. Me? I wear really dark sunglasses so no one can tell that I am napping! :lmao: When they are really young like this (and up until about 7 or 8) it is REALLLLY boring. A lot of them just sit on the field and pick grass....:rotfl2:

Baseball season is even worse with the little ones. That starts for me in 3 weeks....3 kids on 3 different teams in 3 different leagues which play on 3 different fields in 3 different parts of town...but all on Saturday.

Really think about what type of exercise you might enjoy...lifting weights/strength training? Cardio type work on the treadmills and ellipticals? Or classes? Nancy just did a Zumba class and I am doing my first Zumba next week. I don't think it will be the way to go for me, but I'll try anything once! I was all set to do a kickboxing class, but they canceled it in favor of Zumba. Go figure. :confused3 I used to LOVE classes because (1) they were social, and you know, I love to gab... and (2) they are a full body work-out. Nancy likes spinning, which I hate and detest and despise. I like bosu-flex classes as well. Pilates doesn't do anything for me. Now with all of my running, though, I don't have time for classes.

For me, variety is the key!....I get so easily bored :rolleyes1 gotta keep trying new stuff to keep it fresh!

Lower-body massage sounds kinda kinky.

:lmao: :lmao:

Zumba is the newest fitness rage. It is based on latin dance type moves. And I totally have NO rhythm. But everyone I know just loves it and swears by it, so wth...I'll try anything once. Probably will not be my thing, but..:confused3

Oh trust me - I am SOOOO rhythmically challenged it's not even funny! I kept laughing thinking that the folks from Dancing with the Stars would have a field day with me!!! :rotfl: BUT....it was loads of fun, and I burned way more calories than I thought I was (thank GOD for my Polar watch...:goodvibes )

I been busy. Fo shizy

DITTO!!

I really don't swear that often, an injection in my foot. I should have sworn. over and over. instead, I had the if looks could kill fading into I am going to die.

I asked for an epidural the other day at PT  ....The therapist was working on my foot - scar tissue - a bit of manipulation to break it up and Holy Crap! :scared1: She almost got my other size 10 right in her eye socket!!! :rolleyes1

Hi All!

YES! That's right. Well, your house is freakishly clean, too. I mean, my house is clean. My friends make fun of how clean my house is, but it's not that clean. You two totally kick my a$$ in the clean house contest. :)

I think we need a CLUTTER CONTEST! I would win that one hands down! :rolleyes1

Snow, I love the Clutter Contest! We win Swiffers if we have the most clutter! :lmao:

And the cleanest house gets...WetJet pads!

OMG Erika can I just take you with my everywhere? I knew you would come through for me!

Not Team Mom. I hope not! Nah, I bet one of the pro preschool moms is. I do think about you having to do this times three! But obviously you get good at it!

I have a car bag during warm weather and a beach bag and a pool club bag, too! Because I am prepared! But I clear it all out in the fall/winter because I have to clean my car out all of the time. I want my car to look neat - more signs of OCD? ;) I'm just gearing back up for my car bag! Ok, leave the regular stuff in the car, be paired down and super cool and look like a pro mom. Got it! :thumbsup2

I might have to email you about kids birthday parties...I wish this part of motherhood came with a guide. Or maybe a PA. That would be cool.

You asked a while back about a second. Not now. I would consider another but my husband is not so sure, mostly because he has so much going on with work and worries about the time and energy and money issues. We're doing good with this one, I think he just wants to ride that for a while. There's time. I'm only 33, so I could drag out a second kid for a while! :)

Oh, and I totally made a Word document out of your bag list. And saved it in the "Emily" file. ;)

Oh man, I only rate a Word doc and not a spreadsheet!?!?! That just has loser written all over it! :lmao:

Birthday parties...don't get me started! Truly, they are one of my least favorite things about parenthood. I love doing the "family party" but the "friend parties" just stress me out. On the other hand, I have done every Disney theme known, so I have tons of ideas...:lmao:

Yeah, you have a ton of time to decide on #2 (or 3 or 4...talk about making your DH stress! :rotfl: ). I had Kelly, our last, at 33...and sometimes I think about a 4th (not NOW, mind you...but meaning I sometimes wish we had decided to have a 4th, who would now be like 3 or 4....no WAY I am going back to diapers and sippy cups at this point! :scared1:

Funny, I have so many friends who get pregnant (unplanned, so they say) right when their youngest starts K. I always think that they just don't know what to do with themselves if they are not being a SAHM and planning birthday parties and going to pre-school soccer.

Now ballet....I have NO clue. I would be the worst ballet mom EVER! Sports mom? Got that! Girly stuff mom? Ummm...nope. :lmao: Fortunately, my best friend here is really girly, so when either of my girls wants/needs something in that category, I can bring them over to her!

Brace yourself now...BOTH of my daughters decided that this summer they are going to do....cheerleading! This is my worst nightmare realized! :scared: I am just going to drink my way through it. No choice. :lmao:

Thanks! I would love to see 10 more gone...I think I will feel comfortable in my own skin then. Why is it that I seem to lose weight from the top down?!?! :lmao: I get to my hips and then it is just wide from there on in... :rotfl2:

Umm... Erika? If that is wide, can I have wide?? Pretty please???

No seriously, you look great.

When they are really young like this (and up until about 7 or 8) it is REALLLLY boring. A lot of them just sit on the field and pick grass....:rotfl2:

Okay, I literally HOWLED at this one. :rotfl:

One more comment... y'all are definitely reinforcing my decision not to have kids with this whole train of thought.

Food for today:
B: Fiber One + Milk (80)
L: Olive Garden -- linguini alla marinara (340), 1/4 breadstick (35), salad w/ lowfat italian (50)
D: FF spinach dip (80) w/ ff pringles (70), raw cauliflower (15). 1/2 crummy grilled cheese (80). 1 bag ff popcorn (180). 1 cup pumpkin soup (90).

Total, 1020. Exercise, none. Water, 64 oz.

That's a good point about the sippy cups! :)

I did ballet - I danced from 4 until college. So I should be good at ballet, and I think I would be at a real studio. It's the moms in this park system program. No matter what time or day I switch our class to they manage to make me want to weep. We've done the cheaper park classes for a year; in Sept she will go to an actual dance school and hopefully I will not be drawn into the world's most boring conversations ever. The moms I have met there are just too sweet and simpy. It's all, Isn't this sweet! Isn't it adorable! Look at my Precious! and week after week it wears on me. I can deal with it the first time their kid is in a tutu, but four weeks later?

Cheerleading is my worst nightmare, too. I don't even know what to do with that. That's gotta have a set of rules to learn, no? Good luck! Hey, maybe they'll cheer at Disney one day!

Oh, and we are coming to ME this summer. Ogunquit (my fav) or Wells. I'll let you know!

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Oh, and we are coming to ME this summer. Ogunquit (my fav) or Wells. I'll let you know!

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

YEAH!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: That is just 10 minutes away! We will HAVE to go out for drinks or out on the boat or something!

Umm... Erika? If that is wide, can I have wide?? Pretty please???

No seriously, you look great.

As DH so lovingly put it..."Yeah, you do only have about 10-12 pounds left to go...and it is all a$$..." Gee, thanks! :lmao:

Okay, is anyone else thinking "God, her house is clean!" No? Just me? :lmao:

I noticed her house was clean. Too clean. I assumed it was the rarely used living room.

For the record, making spreadsheets for everything is normal. Totally normal! Right, Liz? ;)

Absolutely. I'll send you a link to the thread that everyone posted their spreadsheet Disney Trip Itenirarys. (Crap, I can't spell that word either. All they teach us to spell here is, "OH" "IO".)

You asked a while back about a second. Not now. I would consider another but my husband is not so sure, mostly because he has so much going on with work and worries about the time and energy and money issues. Call me insensitive. Heck call me whatever you want, but after losing 50, FIFTY!, pounds, don't go and get your self preggers.

Oh man, I only rate a Word doc and not a spreadsheet!?!?! That just has loser written all over it! :lmao:

:rotfl:

As DH so lovingly put it..."Yeah, you do only have about 10-12 pounds left to go...and it is all a$$..." Gee, thanks! :lmao:

Idiot!

OK. Here's my momma take. I have bags too. But, while I am prepared, I am not a nice mommy. I like my girls, my nephews and my very best friends kids, ONLY. I do NOT like other peoples nasty little children. No, Jimmy is not cute wanting to hug me with his nasty little bugger fingers filled to the brim with dirt. BLECHH.

Kat, if you ever need a good birth control, just come over and babysit for me, K?

I do raise princesses, and have that department covered to a T. God knew I needed girls. My son would swing for the other team for sure.

Molli(12) is a cheerleader. I enjoyed it. It will be over now. She is going into 7th grade:
1. you have to try out, there will be 50 girls trying out for maybe 7 spots:scared1:
2. she is not one of the "click".

After dance is over Maddi(5) starts t-ball in a few weeks. It's an all girl team. It's fairly easy at this point. 6 weeks, 12 games and the games are the practices. I couldn't ask for more.

I try to keep my house pretty clean. Take chairs out of kitchen and mop tile at least once per week, and the like. But, the past few weeks have been so hectic, it's getting away from me. And this weekend will be spent working on the Taj Mahogg, cause the boys will be joining us soon.

Oh, one more thing. Here's just how nasty I am. I yelled at a adolesent boy in Walmart this evening. He was running around ramming his cart into his sister(?) and another girl and they kept telling him to stop. No mother around. I passed by and hissed, "Do you have a problem?" He froze and stared straight ahead. I followed with "Settle down."

I spend the rest of the trip, in terror that his mother was going to hunt me down and demand an apology. I don't know what came over me. I guess I'm just mean, deep down.

Sorry I keep bringing it all down :(

My dad is home from the hospital but not under good terms... Basically there is nothing more they can do so they let him come home to basically pass on comfortably. Hospice came tonight and set things up for him and my mom so it can be a fairly smooth transition. They say with the way things are going and his lack of eating and drinking he has a few days to a week at most. They think he will likely have renal failure because he isn't drinking anything. The hospice guy was very nice and my brother in law stopped by tonight which I'm sure made my dad happy. I hope everyone had a good Thursday and has a good Friday. I miss you all!
