In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Tape the Birthday Girl setting up her GPS and I'll pay for the evidence. I'll even pay in American funds. :rotfl::surfweb:

Ok smartie. The one thing they DON'T need is encouragement

Becca is already convinced that I'm going to throw it out the window because I'm going to get mad at the "lady" for telling me where to go :rotfl:

Looks like I'll get to try the GPS out tomorrow as I run an *errand* for my husband. I'll let you know how it all works out...

In September I will be saying - where did the summer go?:confused3

I'm already wondering where it went....

Erika - welcome back. Glad you had a good trip despite the rain.

Challenge - I'm going to do a bit of self-evaluation and let you know how I'd rate my performance...:headache:

Lyz - when is your 4H Fair? Soon?

NANCY! Happy Birthday. I toasted to you the other night from the middle of the northern Maine woods. It was a shot, you would have approved! :rotfl2:

LisaV--OMG, I am L.O.V.I.N.G. your posts! Totally making me laugh. And at Nancy's expense, mind you! (But yeah, I think Becca, Nate, and Seth are awesome, too!)

Lyz--Ok, I know that YOU are excited about fair time, but not me. It means you are gone for far too long!

Dawn--WB. Glad soccer was good!

Paula--OMG, your goddess crowns are piling up! What are you doing with them all?!!?

Ronda--challenge stuff SHOULD be posted on Fridays. YOU are the only one who is on the ball. Ahem....to the rest of you slackers! :rotfl2:

Liz--where? Why?

Cathie--loved that your brain is clicking! That is the biggest battle, right there!

Stephanie--woo hoo! Keep walking that pup!

As for me--Things are fine with exercise, right on track. Food, eh. Been better, been worse. It is always hard when camping. The way we camp, we NEED to eat. A lot. We just get ravenous from the physical exertion, the adrenaline, and just being outside 24/7. So tomorrow I will get back to being OP. Still adding up my miles, but I had a great 4-mile run on one day, we did a family bike ride another day (just 6 miles, but that is a lot for the kids), I still have to calculate the mileage of paddling, and then 10 miles worth of hiking, though not all at once. So it was definitely a physical week-end.

And Nancy--yup, we got the full 4" of rain. For those that don't know, 4" of rain is equivalent to 2.5 FEET of snow. It is insane. We were dry, (;)natch...our wilderness engineers earned their keep this trip as well), but the mud was brutal. In hindsight, no, I would not have done this trip. With the rain, it just wasn't worth it. But again, the kids LOVED this trip, so at least that was something.

Now, just getting ready for my husband to leave tomorrow morning. Helping him getting unpacked and re-packed, etc. Check back in later.

POST those challenge results from your first week!

Week and a half to the state fair, next wednesday, then a couple days later to the county fair. We gave the boys a bath this evening.

Nancy - when is your fair?

EriKa - I'm exhausted just listening to your trip. The rain, yuck!!!

Dawn - glad your having a "winning" sports summer.

NANCY! Happy Birthday. I toasted to you the other night from the middle of the northern Maine woods. It was a shot, you would have approved! :rotfl2:

Tequilla? :confused3

Paula--OMG, your goddess crowns are piling up! What are you doing with them all?!!?

Totally my source of inspiration right now. No pressure though, Paula ;)

Ronda--challenge stuff SHOULD be posted on Fridays. YOU are the only one who is on the ball. Ahem....to the rest of you slackers! :rotfl2:

yep. Not such a pretty report from me.

Now, just getting ready for my husband to leave tomorrow morning. Helping him getting unpacked and re-packed, etc. Check back in later.

Hope he has a great trip! How long this time?

Week and a half to the state fair, next wednesday, then a couple days later to the county fair. We gave the boys a bath this evening.

Our 4H Fair is in a couple of weeks. Aug 14-16th. But in addition to being local 4H club officers, my kids are all county officers as well (Seth is President - in charge of the entire county fair!, Nate 1st Vice....Becca is once again the publicity guru)....so that means WAY more work for us than for the average exhibitor. Becca is once again arranging her tv & radio interviews. Looks like we'll have 3 TV stations to visit this year - local NBC, CBS & Fox affiliates, as well as radio spots. OY.

Have to say - I love the skills that my kids are developing by being so involved - but their animal project work is suffering because of it. :sad2: They just don't devote the same amount of time that other kids do. Pigs? Not even going this year. They just haven't done a thing with them.

Challenge results...bear with me as I talk myself thru my self-evaluation.

Exercise - check. Not "killer" workouts all week, but got the job done. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give myself a 9.

Water - mostly. I've done a much better job with the water. Some days got it all in, others not quite, but more than previously. Rating - 7

Alcohol - this is where I begin to falter. Rating - 5

Food - again. eh. so-so. Rating 5.

That gives me 26 out of a possible 40 points. 65%. solid "D". :sad2: Not stellar. If I were a student, "not working up to capacity" would be in the comment section.:rolleyes1

I like Nancy's musing style...

challenge results:

exercise 6/7 days - I made 5/7 and the day I missed was to pick up food and deliver to the church food pantry. It felt more like a core workout. Rating 8.

speeding up - eh, I'd give it a 7. Some really quick laps. I'm going to change from measuring lap speed to having the watch click off laps at miles. It will be more meaningful as I contemplate doing it 13 times.

Ronda

Paula--OMG, your goddess crowns are piling up! What are you doing with them all?!!?

Why I am wearing them proudly of course... now it has gotten me some strange looks from the guys at the office, but what can you do...

Seriously Nancy - gulp... no pressure there at all...:scared:

OK - one weekend of total power shopping done and I FINALLY have something to wear to the track on Wednesday. I will do my best to get pictures, but it is a very mediterranean look. White capri pants with a silk printed blousy top, a couple of long silver chains and black flats and a black clutch. Not the perfect little dress I was looking for, but it looks awesome on me and the sizes are amazing. Size 20 pants and thanks to the blousiness of the top it is a size 16. Me in a freaking size 16. Whee!!!!!!

Erika - glad the camping trip was a good one. Sorry about the rain, but you had the right attitude for it so all is good. Hope J has a safe trip!

Nancy - I find it easier to name the voice on the GPS so you can at least direct your anger to something more real. Good luck!

Dawn - glad the soccer tourney's turned out so well. Get some rest.

Ronda - Going to tackle that hill again this week?

Lyz - good luck with the last minute fair prep. The week and a half will certainly fly by.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Challenge Results:

got my 3 sessions with Jesse in
got my 2 cardio sessions in (although on a bike and not walking:headache:)
got my Sunday morning bike ride in this morning... 9 miles and had to dart around a few bunny rabbits.... does that count for extra?

been drinking my water and staying mostly on track food wise. I have to reschedule my JC appointment tomorrow so I may not have weight loss to report until Tuesday or Wednesday.

oh and I think the funk from last week is finally gone.... :woohoo: Things are certainly looking up...

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Look at you go, Paula! That's AWESOME!

absolutely! I think my heart rate goes up with every varmint that I try not to crash into :rotfl:

oh and I think the funk from last week is finally gone.... :woohoo: Things are certainly looking up...

...and this is precisely why I'm drawing my inspiration from you right now! :thumbsup2

Watching Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire on TBS...love what Dumbledore just said. "soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy". Of course, he's not talking about my weight loss efforts  but still - strikes a chord with me. Gotta stop taking the "easy" route and do what I know in my heart of hearts is RIGHT.

I am up to page 146 in catching up on all the back life stories I missed since burn camp. I hate being behind with all of you so what else to do when insomnia strikes at 4 a.m. and dishes, laundry etc., will wake the whole house up?

So I left off with me climbing a hill and then trouble….
Paula - I was most glad I went back and read this race report! You deserve to brag about this accomplishment for months to come! I wold drop over of a heart attack if I had to ride 10 miles right now - you are ON and we all know it! So very happy for you!
Dawn-That would be really neat. I'm currently a bit more in northern CO, sort of out in the sticks, but I would happily drive somewhere to met a fellow diser! Since this doesn't really seem to be the popular place for dis meets :)
This time we will have zero extra mintes in the trip - but we will be through Colorado a lot in the next year so I will pm you when the next opportunity arises!
Back from Renaissance festival Tired as all heck amd have a bit of a sunburn haha!!! But will post a few pics in the morning when I am coherent and can work photobucket :)
Loved the pics and many of the pictured men in tights, the fairy and "Puke and Snot" are here too! Funny thinking that some really do have a job with it all summer/fall. What exactly does that look like on a job application?

Former position: Professional Fairy :lmao:

DAWN - My younger brother once came home with a shaved head because it was 'too warm that day'! I think it rained for about a week after and he had to wear a hat because his head was cold :lmao:
It has grown out a lot but the shock of not expecting it is what I thinked killed me - that and anything makes me an emotional wreck when it comes to him lately!
I spent the afternoon at my cousin's graduation party. Had a blast catching up with the family. I was stunned when one of my uncles came up to me to tell me that I looked great and that he was really proud of me for doing what I am doing. This guy does not dole out compliments easily so that really meant a lot to me. I didn't overeat or graze while at the party so it was a victory for me - yeah...
That must have made you feel great!:lovestruc

Dawn - hope everyone is having a blast at camp. As for Treyner's hair, it will grow back. Get ready for four years of experimentation. That is all part of the college experience you know. I went to college as a traditional pop song singing kid and came back a fan of alternative music. I remember my sister saying that she was getting nervous because I liked the B-52's... :rotfl: Besides, if that is the worst thing you have to deal with, you are doing pretty darn good....
I did not know the B52's were edgy?;) I think the short do will stick for a bit - he got compliments from many girls that it made him look tough and David Beckamesh!

If I was told I looked tough, I would picture a worn out haggard woman at a run down bar. Guys have it easy!:rotfl2:

Well, we haven't made any firm decisions yet, but it looks like we will put the family trip to Asia off for now. I am excited you will get a chance to go in the spring! Do the kids know yet? Beyond exciting!
I did really well with calorie intake over the week-end, so that is a huge victory. Like Kat, I can do well without much trouble during the week, but week-ends derail me in a heartbeat.
That used to be me as well - now the whole week is a blur of bad choices and stupid mindless eating! UGH!

It is hard to admit that you have gone up a size or two (or three or four), but you still need to get dressed in the morning and why should you look anything less than your best? You need to dress the body you have (even if you hate it) by wearing your right size. Trying to cram yourself into something that is too small or too big only makes you look worse and I suspect make you feel worse about yourself than you already are. (all of you Stacey and Clinton fans should relate to this...) Why pile on here?
I do finally get this - I have bought sizes as of late that make me want to hurl myself off of a bridge - but way more flattering than too small.
Kat - I think you talked about getting rid of your currnet size clothing and not wanting to buy anymore -that is me now. Sad and all my fault.:headache:

I've officially reached the point of disgust. Complete revulsion. I feel like crap. I'm lethargic. And bloated. And doughy. I've gained back all but 1 pound of the weight that I worked so hard to lose after New Years....
Did you just rip the words from my mouth or what! I know I felt better when I followed a better plan of food and excersize so why is it so tempting to sabbatoge something that makes you feel better? Is it as simple as taste? No cause truthfully - better quality foods and less amounts taste better. That is my million dollar question.

Why do we do things to ourselves we hate 20 minutes later?

In other travel news...earlier this evening Jeff said "I want to go back to Disney!"
Ohhh! Very fun!
So let me tell you about the project tour Saturday. The 4H club comes out to the Taj Mahogg to see Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. So I had to re-read that a few times to get it and laugh at your wit! We call a huge Walmart here the TajMaWalmart so I was like - why is Aerosmith at Walmart Molli stops JP before he can find that puddle and Go.To.Town, cause that's exactly what would have happened. She leads him up and locks him away and then comes for Steven. OMG. I was literally shaking. I am so proud of her.
Yeah for Molli and being cool under pressure in front of all those people - including boys! Most teens would have not been able to pull that off!
Central for me will be the middle of the Ocean - everyone grab your Dinghys! :lmao::rotfl: We will set a date and I will start rowing from my side and you from yours!
So....My name is Kelly, and I am so far off the wagon I can't even see the darn thing. :sad2:
It was here and gone in the US a month ago - by now it is in Asia. D@mn wagon.
Finally, I had the wake up call I needed yesterday.
I get this - I have though passed the point of - "is she pregnant?" because I am so overweight now - that I would have to be the octomom or be carrying a 2 year old to have this big of a gut!:rotfl2:
Ended up sitting next to some random old lady who told me not to bother holding the hymnal for her, as her mother used to pay her NOT to sing. "and quite handsomly I must say" :rotfl2::rotfl2:
In 6th grade they asked me in church school to play the bells - which is a nice way of telling you that God doesn't want to hear you either!:rotfl:
Let's say this; I need to go back to therapy when I get home, do some more of that grief work.

Half of me wishes I was not on this vacation. The other half is okay with it.
Liz - I am sorry you are feeling all of these not fun things right now. You talking through that here - made me realize something.

When I get back in a few weeks - I think I will be going to see a counselor again as well. I had a dream about my dad the other night - very vivid and I woke up very angry - which tells me all my self talk about not being bothered by him is a bunch of crud.

Vent and explanantion here -

- Not sure if I had told you all this or not but last July he left to get married in the Phillipines and has not came back. He expected me to let him and his new wife move in here - "ummm...no." And now is pressuring my sister to be responsible for them when they finally get all the paperwork done and arrive back in the states. - like she as a single person (social worker for the mentally handicapped) should be able to afford their housing and life as well as her own.

It is progress for me to have said no to him - I do not feel guilty anymore and feel like I need to be his savior - but I am angry as heck at all the things he missed out on for all of us and then expects us to ship him food from the US, send him money and then pay for him to get back here and live. He is 61 and the maturity of a six year old and that is pretty sad.

Beyond frusterating.

I have one of the girls boyfriends harassing me!

Steph - how scary - hope when I get all caught up - I will find out that this situation has resolved itself!
the last goal I have is attitude. I really am going to try to cut myself some slack now and then. My "all or nothing" tendancies don't help me at all! Kat had touched on this last week I think - and it's been rattling around in my brain ever since. This is life. I have to live it. And I really would prefer if I was happy with myself while doing it! ;)

Nanacy - great word choices for me! Thanks again for hitting feelings spot on
Hi Ladies, mind if I join you?

232323232%7Ffp53654%3Enu%3D387%3B%3E352%3E252%3EWSNRCG%3D324%3A7%3A9845343nu0mrj

Well that's my plan. Hopefully I can stick to it and posting here will help too.

Hi and I am so glad you are here and were nice enough to put a face with the name right away! You do look beautiful - even if you are not happy with where you are at in your body right now!

K - so it is 6:30 am. now and I have been responding and catching up literally since 4 a.m.

How many calories do you burn reading and typing for 2 1/2 hours? :confused3:rotfl:

I will read the rest later - no promises I can't keep anymore - a new thing I am working on.

I put pressure on myself to say what I want to have happen - even when I know that there is no way I can for sure stick to it. So even though my heart is in the right place - it does nothing for me but add undo pressure and that needs to stop in all areas of my life.

So I will tell you all I need to do a boat load of stuff here - I had a list of 20 household jobs (all at least 15-20 minutes in time to accomplish )- we each pulled 4 to do today - and then there is packing!

It looks beautiful here! Hope all of you have a good Monday too!

Good morning ladies!

First, here are my challenge results. 5/7 puppy walks, 3/7 gym, 5/7 food. I'm so excited that i got an extra gym day in last week. No looking at the scale until the end of next week though. If i'm good for another week I think I'll treat myself to a pedicure.

I got a hair cut on Friday night and I'm loving it. It looks just like the one in the pics I shared from cali only about an inch shorter. Since I hadn't cut it since early may, I was in desperate need of a cut.

The in laws visited this weekend so that meantime a lot of eating out but I don't think I did too bad. Dessert only once and I skipped lunch on Sunday after a huge breakfast.

I'll try and catch up with everyone tomorrow night when I've got some free time. Have a great Monday :)

Challenge results:

Exercise - check

Scale -- down 1.2 lbs this week (still not quite at my pre-vacation weight, but heading in that direction)

My goodness, it's been a busy summer! I've been trucking my daughter back and forth from drama camp for the last week (only 2 more weeks to go). Why oh why do they schedule day camps for the worst possible times for working moms? This one runs 9:15-3:30 everyday. So I get my behind in the office at 7:30 or earlier, run out to take her to camp, wolf my lunch, and run to pick her up in the afternoon and drop her at home, then go BACK to the office and stay late since I've spent so much time running around. It's crazy!!! My husband helps out when he can, thankfully.

On the other hand, it's totally worth it. My DD did not want to do this camp, she is not a "me in the spotlight" kinda gal AT ALL. But I figured it would be good for her to get out of her comfort zone a little bit, meet some new kids, etc. And aside from the one day that she burst into tears after camp and announced they were making her play a "boy" part (do the math -- 35 kids in the group and only 4 boys), she is having a wonderful time. They work on their show for the 3 weeks and put on a performance (High School Musicial 2) on the last day of camp. Should be fun.

This weekend, we drove up to Lancaster PA to do our annual shop at the Central Market (lots of fresh produce and meats/cheese -- yum) and get lost in the Corn Maze in Strasburg. This is our 8th straight year doing the maze -- it's a total blast.

Hope you're all having a great day. I have 3 more weeks before we head to Orlando, so I'm planning to keep working my challenge till then. See ya! :lovestruc

Good morning...

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I am exhausted from all of the running around, but that is ok. A little worried this morning though. I think I tweaked my left hamstring a bit. It was sore yesterday after my bike ride and is not feeling much better today. I have a session w/ Jesse tonight (going to see Rent tomorrow night) so hopefully, he can figure it out. I really don't want to deal with an injury right now, but I may not have a choice.

OK - need to get back to work. Much to be done and I am working short week this week thanks to the track and my camping trip.

Catch you all later...

LisaZ - congrats on the loss... YEAH!!!!!

I used to do a summer theater program like the one your daughter is in. I totally loved it. Hope the show is awesome!

JUst a quick story - I posted that wedding clip a few days ago - it is a U-tube sensation now and the couple is from St. Pal, MN actally. They were asked to come to NYC by Good Morning America with their wedding party to dance live - they paid for the tickets out there and hotel. The Today Show also wanted them on - so they did that one and planned on still doing the GMA show the next day.

GMA found out they were also on the Today show and kicked them out of their hotel and resinded the airline tickets. It is all over the news here since it is a local couple - the Today show bought them new tickets and got them a new hotel room.

Unless they broke a contract, I am suprised GMA would do this and the bad publicity this caused will hurt them I think more than 2 morning shows having them both on. I know many times there is just a wheel of people who are on shows.

Anyway - was just suprised by that -

Here is the link again if you have not seen it.

Dawn - How's the college packing going? Emotional rollercoaster doesn't even begin to describe me these days. This current chaos will only last a few more weeks, then once school starts I'll be able to settle into a new, healthier routine :)

Stephanie - Nice job on the challenge. Please keep posting your successes. I need some more positive karma!

LisaZ - so wonderful to hear from you! Drama camp :woohoo: My daughter is big into the drama & music. She's doing a production with her voice teacher - 4 teenage girls - has her singing/rehearsing a minimum of 5 days a week. However her days off are NOT the weekends, but Tuesdays & Wednesdays. It is all-consuming. Really restricts our summer-fun options....but she loves it, and like you said - it is so beneficial for these girls in other ways. I wouldn't trade it for a thing right now. OK, maybe for a Hawaiian vacation...:rolleyes1

Paula - I thought of you this morning. Heard a commercial on the radio for Saratoga. Please. Do tell me. What is this Sunday "Hat Contest" of which they speak? And do you in fact have a hat to enter? :confused3

Off to run an errand for hubby. Time to test out that GPS.

Hi Nancy... I heard my first Saratoga radio commercial this weekend too. It brought a huge smile to my face then, but in another three weeks, I'll be hating them due to them being overplayed.

Ah - the hat contest. Basically, it follows the format used at Ascot (hi Kelly!!!) and at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby. Basically, all of these women and some men go to town constructing this wildly themed hats to impress the judges. And before any of you start to get all excited at the prospect of me in a hat at this contest, I'll tell you the same thing I told Jesse when he asked if I was wearing a hat to the track. Hell no! The only hat I wear with any regularity is my hard hat and that is because I need to protect my noggin out on the job site. (besides - it makes me look like a bobble head and gives me hat head - so unattractive...:rotfl:)

I'll see if I can get some pics on Wednesday of the finery that will be on display. The society folk go all out for the meet so the people watching is fabulous! One year, I was standing near David Cassidy. Last year I saw Bobby Flay and his wife and the guy who played Christopher on the Sopranos (both own horses). Bill Parcels (the football coach) and George Steinbrenner make regular appearances (they are owners too) along with a whole slew of other celebs who are fans of the sport or guests of someone's.

Ok - enough swooning about the summer season in Saratoga...

Hey all, hope everyone had a really good weekend!

We went to a local theme park here in Denver on Saturday. MAN, kicked MAH BUTT!!!! All the walking, and then I never noticed this at Disney (but then again they don't have rides like this lol), but my muscles are really sore all over from the rides. I think because when it jerks you your body naturally reacts and tries to pull back....I was getting a muscle workout without even realizing it!!!!!:rotfl: I got Carlos to go on upside-down rides with me, so that was a triumph in my department! He's never been a thrill ride kinda guy until we went on California Screamin at Disneyland and I guess it opened up his eyes. lol We also went to the water park there and got in a lot of water fun, so that definitely helped with the exercise, therefore I was POOPED yesterday!

BUUUT that means I got in the last bit of my exercise needed and completed all my challenge goals for the week! :woohoo:

Weigh in today at 11:45 so we'll see how that goes *crosses fingers*

Nancy-happy belated birthday, I hope you had a really great one!!!

Dawn-Yes, Puke and Snot are fabulous! Them and Ded Bob are my absolute favorites, and Twig the Fairy of course. :lmao: Yes, I would love to be a professional fairy. When I read that to beyonce he started prancing around the room saying "I can be a professional fairy!!!":rotfl:

Oooh, bad form by GMA. That won't play well anywhere.

Ronda - who only heard the video from across the living room as DGF played it.

Hey everyone!

I'm low today. Don't know why. A little concerned.

But anyway ;)

Paula - wow on the 16 - so thrilling to hear

LisaZ - so good to hear you

Dawn - wow so busy you are. Sending  to you with the emotions of college starting and your father.

The dancing GMA thingy - hmmm - although I don't agree with what GMA did - I get the thought process because I certainly don't agree with what the couple did. To me it seems pretty rude to have one company pay for you to go out and then go on their competition's show a day earlier.

Nancy - when is the errand? Can't wait. :lmao:

Amy - miss you. Hope you're having a great time.

Erika - jungle juice? Do you want to try it?

Liz - miss you. Hope everything is "okay". Thinking about you.
