In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Just found out that we are going to Boston this week-end (cause, you know, this means that we have been away for 14 consecutive week-ends). But the reason we are going...a DVC event! Lots of free Disney gifts, Mickey and Minnie will be there, games, etc. It is a promotional sales event for Bay Lake Towers, but it still sounds somewhat fun. Then Sunday Jeff heads to Fenway to watch the Red Sux with his parents (spelled that way on purpose. I am a New Yorker remember) while the kids and I meet my parents to hike the Freedom Trail.

Just back from my last-ever Middle School Band Concert.

I *could* say that I'm sad about that. But I'd be lying. :rotfl2: Two words: Instrumental Chaos. :scared1: OMG. At one point I was actually envious of the elderly man in front of me. He had hearing aids. One little flip of a switch and he coulda tuned the whole thing out!

Of course, MY daughter was outstanding. :rolleyes1

Dawn - $15,000 for a grad party? NOT. No way. We are having family and friends over after graduation (5pm ceremony) but the graduates have to be back at school no later than 9:30 to get to the all-night grad party that they have at the Y. So quick bbq dinner, congrats, etc and he's off. We, on the other hand, can party as long as we want! ;)

Have fun on all your travels this summer! :goodvibes

Molli has decided to show one of her hogs (Steven Tyler) at the state fair. I am filling out all the required paperwork. What this means is, I've got 2 fairs in 2 weeks in 2 different cities. I'm going to lose my mind.

Rebel goat is good - I hear yah on the animal road trips. We're in Rhinebeck, NY this weekend & Southern Vermont next.

Paula - I agree. Spin bike isn't quite the same. Here's hoping you get "outside" time soon!

Kat - AWESOME deals at WDW! So jealous right now.

hey now. Some of us happen to love Red Sox Nation!

Hi everyone - I have been catching up on what everyone is doing ;) Sounds like everyone had an amazing weekend!! Between grad parties and dieting (and loosing weight-great job) and just being a mom :lovestruc

Yesterday, I had my 2nd MRI to determine what is truly going on with my neck. I took a valium which was so weird, I felt like I was on another planet :rotfl: Needless to say I lasted in the tube MRI, thank god!!

I called this am, and my results were in - no change from last April  However, I do have two hemongioma's (sorry spelling) in C-6 & C-7. Which means that, if I need surgery for c-4 &C-5 I would have to get a fusion and two vertabre replacements (which would result in a longer neck fusion).

Believe it or not, I am OK with it........I am not crazy and what I am feeling is real(which is a plus) Everyone can be fixed, and the numbness in my hands and arms and headaches should go away.

I go on Friday for my appt, to see what the plan is - either way I will get through this :goodvibes

I signed up for the Princess 1/2 in March, so I have to get it done!! I am still doing my elipital - so I am getting in my cardio :yay:

Happy Tuesday Night!!!

Jennifer- sorry about your back - hopefully you'll get some concrete answers on Friday! :flower3:

Night all!

Soccer in the rain tonight was glorious fun. Laughed and laughed. My mood is great - i have no anxiety in my life that is affecting me like before. I cannot believe how much stress I let eat me about all this college stuff for everything to be over with a 5 minute call for fianancial aid.

Glad so many of you are doing well. Nancy - your grad plans sound perfect!

E - have an awesome weekend - how did you hear about it?

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!

Foggy here this morning. I'm hoping it will burn off in the next hour or so - Since we finally have a day with no rain, I want to go for a bike ride today.

It's ok, Nancy. I am sure you will outgrow it. It's just a nasty phase. :lmao:

:faint: um. speechless right now

I don't mind so much if you aren't a Sox fan - as long as you don't tell me the Yankees are your favorite team.

I'm still waiting for the "calm" to arrive. I think once we actually get thru the graduation ceremony I'll be much better.

Just put the kids on the bus for the last day of school. I have about 2 hours total before the summer invasion begins! Today is only a half day, but even beyond that, I have to be at the school at 10:15 for Step-up Day, where they get their new teachers (and it is a meet-n-greet for parents and next year's teacher). Since I have 3 kids, that will take until noon, which is when school is out. So, this is it--my last few moments of an empty and quiet house.

Truly, though, I love summer vacation. I love, love, love not having to get everyone up and out of the house every morning and all of that rushing around. And the pool club! Gosh, I can't believe that we haven't even been yet! Of course, there have only been about 3 days that were actually warm enough! Forecast for today is for 76*, so we may give it a try this afternoon! :cool1:

I feel SO good after eating well yesterday and having a good work-out!

Dawn--we were invited to the DVC event so that is how we know about it.

Um... does that mean if I root for the Yankees I can't be part of the cool kids club anymore? My dad worked long and hard to make sure I was a Yankee fan....

of course, I don't watch baseball so it doesn't matter... :rotfl:

Now start talking football and I am a Giants fan through and through... gotta love my boys in blue...

Nancy - hope the fog clears so you can get a bike ride in....

Managed to get 10 mile in on the spin bike last night.... need to get my long ride in on my bike tomorrow before I head out for the weekend. Saw someone last night who joined JC after seeing me at that panel discussion I moderated last month. We were chatting about it and she joined last week. She made it through her first week and lost six pounds. I was beyond thrilled for her. Sounds like she likes the program which is a huge load off of my mind. I always worry when someone starts doing something I recommend - what if they hate it? I don't want that kind of guilt...

Anyways - to all of you who have kids home for the summer - enjoy and try to stay sane.

Nice and quiet day for me today, family dinner is tonight (Tuscan Lemon Chicken on the grill - yum...) and then I am off to the gym for a core workout (sans Jesse since my schedule is all screwed up this week and he mistakingly double booked and I lost since it is not my regular time slot. He is leaving me a list of exercises to do and he will be there so it is like he is there, but not all at the same time).

Remeber - Do something fun today!!!!

The fog did indeed clear, the sun is now out and I had a fabulous ride. :cool1:

Yankees? <sigh> I grew up in a house divided. Mom=red sox, Dad=Yankees. interesting, that's for sure. :goodvibes

Nice that Jesse is leaving you a list, Paula. I love going to the gym with some kind of plan. Don't have to think about it, just DO it :goodvibes

So of course today is the ONLY day all week where it's not supposed to rain - and I have to go to work (I know, I know. Cry me a river....). but it just doesn't seem fair!

15 minutes till I go meet the bus. I hope my house survives the summer!

Step-up day went well. Riley and Kel got great teachers and lots of their friends in their classes. Cammie, I'm not sure about. Her teacher is ok--not who I wanted, but a fine teacher. But ALL of her friends went to a different class together, and just she was separated out with one other friend. So I am sure she will be a bit sad when she gets home.

Morning - laundry up the wazoo - packing for Florida trip so we can take the rest camping and not be scurrying around next week.

I have no idea when I will be home and that is frusterating a bit. Treyner plays Sat - Monday for sure but if they win it could be through Wed. That means we leave Thurs afternoon for a 24 hour drive to Florida with a 1/2 day to pack and get ready and unpack the vehicle from Sioux Falls. We shall see. I need to just go with the flow. Let go of what I can't control.

Sioux Falls is 4 1/2 hours away BTW. I will have car seat @ss by the time all this is done but it will be fun! Treyner wins Regionals we head to the East Coast for his championships. I want them to win but part of me looks at driving to MA then turning around to be back in MN and packing him for college and then driving 36 hours to Durango in 2 days as more than fun.

That is evil as a mom I know - but sheesh - a lot of miles on the road. Maybe I can become a truck driver in a few weeks and make money hauling something at least!

I will walk tonight. Off to a game of soccer for Treyner between the MN Thunder pro team and his team. Good practice and hopefully good entertainment.

Rant for my own self ahead - warning...

Treyner hates his coach and it has been hard for him. He just yells at what is wrong but he is not a goalie coach so he does not tell Treyner what to do to correct it. He was our HS coach as well and was fired this past year for the same behavior. I think he is a kind of person who has a wealth of knowledge but does not have a clue how to teach/coach it. He is also in the middle of a nasty divorce and his emotions I am sure run high.

When Treyner signed up to play with them, a local college coach was supposed to be the coach. He is now coaching down to the 16 year olds, trying to recruit them versus spending time with kids who have decided their future. I get his thoughts, but I am not sure Treyner would have gone to this team knowing it would cost $2,000 plus all this travel time if he was not going to grow as a player. They do not run any drills for the goalies at all and the other goalies mom and I have felt that there is not much for them as athletes.

We got billed $140 for uniforms - we got a goalie jersey - tag on it saying $45 (yes their names and number were added to it so there would be some additional cost there) and 2 pairs of socks. I mentioned to the coach that it was interesting that the goalies were charged the same as the field players who got 2 pairs of shorts, 2 shirts and 2 socks. He was shocked I questioned the charge.

Try to bite my tongue and ride the season out but he is a guy who lives in the town we do, I have known him for 13 years and he is just a PITA. He knows a lot of people and has a lot of connections and so you need to be careful on who you make your enemy.

He has told me he was offended that Treyner went to Colordo and talked to the colleges and did not ask him for references or advice or to make some calls. I think a lot of his attitude is simply that Treyner got where he is going to school on his own.

He has a son Christian, who is 2 years older than Treyner and beyond hopeless as an athlete. He pushed him to be in soccer all the time and locally, Treyner earned a goalie position over Christian when Treyner was in 3rd grade. He was not happy his son was being removed by a younger kid. As a parent he wanted it for his son. I get that, but this is years later and the contempt he still feels is palpable. Several parents have asked what his deal is with Treyner because they see his animosity and hear him yelling at him on the field which he does not do for anyone else.

Anyway, I am trying to explain to Treyner thathe is an adult, he needst to confront it and work it out. He will have situtaioins like this in his life all the time so the skill of communication and problem solving needs to be learned and dealt with by him - not me.

Thanks for letting me vent -again!;)

Nancy - I promise th eweight you will feel lifted after it's done is huge and then you will go - how silly was I. I think with Carsyn it will be much easier cause i know what to expect and i am a control freak so the unknown is a huge area of stress and disscomfort I put myself through.

am wondering where the money will come from for that to top everything else off.

oooh. Harsh. But you have to trust that they didn't randomly made teacher/student placements, but for a good reason...Hope she's ok with it.

Holy smack that's a lot of driving :scared:

I'd totally question that uniform charge as well. Ri-freakin'-diculous!

I have this horrible, overpowering urge to eat. Anything. Everything. ACK. perhaps it's pms....

Don't do it... think of all those calories you burned while on your rid. Do you really want them back????

Don't do it... think of all those calories you burned while on your rid. Do you really want them back????

No I don't. Not a single one of them.

please tell me about your Lemon Chicken that's on the menu for tonight - I'm in a recipe rut!

Wait. Did I tell you about the chicken? :confused3

So here we are, riding up the road on our bikes this morning. It's a main throroughfare, but being that where I live is somewhat rural, and where we were headed is even more so, it's not overly busy.

Up ahead in the distance I can see something smack in the middle of the road. Moving. Ok, so it's not road kill...;)...a bird. No wait, is it a chicken? As we get closer I can see that it is indeed poultry. I'm zooming along and pretty soon another chicken starting to wander out into the street - in my lane! Stupid bird.

As it turns out, I can see that it's a rooster being followed by a hen. (stupid, stupid woman. :lmao:). Crossing the road. Or attempting to anyway. Woulda been just fine, if a CAR hadn't come flying thru scaring the dumb clucks! Right back into my path. Almost crashed. I didn't, but I did curse loudly at them. :rotfl2:

I'm going to remember "dumb clucks"

Sometimes on my commute I'll spook a rabbit or squirrell. Very exciting moments!

Dawn--that is quite a schedule! :scared1:

Nancy--so why DID the chicken cross the road??? :rotfl2:

Pool club = awesome. Baked, slept, chatted with friends. All good. The cabana boys arrive on Friday when the bar/grill opens.
