All I can say is that fair is HUGE!!!. Ours even the BIG one in Burlington isn't that big! and the crowds watching the swine showing WOW!!!

Girls look cute...they are beautiful.

OK so this morning just let me say that I used to love SAt Mornings because Steph would go to the bakery and get pastries and I would drive into the box and have myself a bear claw and an apple fritter. I hate Saturdays now because he still goes and I know that I shouldn't and won't have two anymore. I had to choose this morning but my little turd ate my bear claw before I got up so I had to eat a cinnamon roll it was between that and a boston cream doughnut!! I am looking for a NEW cell phone one that rings loud because I am total DEAF and can't hear it when it rings... I think that is because I drive with the music on FULL BLAST. Then I need to shower and go to my nieces b-day party they actually had it early today just for me!!! . I missed them all last year! WORK gets in the way of SO MUCH! Just think next year work will get in the way of my lounging and tanning and swimming ...(yes lyz I am rubbing it in...LOL:rotfl2: )
Ok need to find me a phone!!!!

Lyz- The "before" pics of the little piggies is very cute :lovestruc

...the "AFTER"...I expected to see a plate of BACON! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

more from me a little later today - we have people coming from Cobleskill, NY to look at some of our goats (for 4H projects, not FOOD  ) and they should be here any time now....

have a great day all - Hanna will be here later today, here's hoping that she doesn't stay too long! :scared:

Quick drive-by....

First, I got my long run in this morning! 11.2 miles. Goddess crown! AND--I feel great! No fatigue at all (cause I fueled during the run) and my feet feel GOOD! OMG, Nancy and LisaPR (as opposed to LisaV) - the Sauconys are FAB! No blisters, no pain, and all of my toenails are happily intact! :goodvibes Feeling a tad better about the race. But I wll still be a wreck.

I was online till about 11:30, so I think you all got on just as I logged off.

Nancy--ok, so I know he's your son and all, but I am hating him right now! :lmao: OMG, running 7-minute miles when he is out of shape. :faint:

LYZ--Love the pics! Thanks for posting. I am still without a camera, so looks like I am going to have to buy a new one. Aw shucks...:rolleyes1

Catch up with everyone else later. I am off to my mom's opening. She has a show (photography) opening at a gallery at noon, so I have to get the kids all hoity-toity'd up and ready to go.

Nancy--ok, so I know he's your son and all, but I am hating him right now! :lmao: OMG, running 7-minute miles when he is out of shape. :faint:

And don't forget - this is the kid with the broken back! Freak! ;)

Glad you got your run in and all is well...have fun at the art show! :thumbsup2

Brought home whole load of peaches from the orchard where I work  fresh, yummy, sweet & juicy ..gotta love it! Gonna make some jam, can some...eat many....maybe even make a PIE!

I was doing the whole "Bubba Gump" shrimp thing at work yesterday - with all the peaches we have, everything is PEACH! My boss vetoed the "peach scampi" though :scared:

Thanks. I like them.

Awww, sorry about the bear claw. (don't even know what that is.) And I am way too weak. I saw "bakery" and "pastries" and had to have a doughnut. Thanks alot Steph.

You know that's not good for your ears, right? Put your phone on vibrate. Mine vibrates and rings 24/7.

That's awesome news! 11.2 miles! Gheesealou.

I was online till about 11:30, so I think you all got on just as I logged off.

We got lisaviolet in on the act. She was spilling Canadian secrets. Sorry we missed you. But in other news, I finally figured out how to invite someone to a chat already in progress.:yay:

E - I did not know how much prep it takes to do a long run...listened to the radio this morning and a girl on there ran 20 miles this morning...at 3:30 am to get it in...I now feel so much more educated at how dedicated (and maybe nutty) runners are...I am proud of you and you are such a successfull person that I know it will be accomplished...but I am sorry you were detracted today...

Thanks! And yeah, I never realized either how much went into a long run. I really like my 4, 5, and 6-mile runs for the most part (some days things are not great, but for the most, those are good runs), but as soon as I get over 6 miles...ugh!

I am physically capable of it. My legs don't get fatigued, my breathing is fine, I am not in pain or anything...I just get BORED. I can do about an hour and 15 minutes before it really sets in. I load my iPod with everything imaginable...music, podcasts, audiobooks, news, stand-up comedy...just tons of stuff. Doesn't help after that first 75 minutes.

But see? This is more stuff that has to be prepped before the long run. Gotta make sure I have everything I need on my iPod, etc. There is just so much that goes into it.

I am now officially starting to taper before my race! :cool1: That means that my next long run is only 90 minutes (which for me is about 8.5 miles), and then I drop way down so that I can rest before the race.

Oh, I know what you mean Paula.

Picture it, Thanksgiving Eve, I have the six pumpkin rolls made, and now, at midnight, I still must make the icing. OMG, my baaaaaack. And my feeeeeet. Tears. (but those dang Pumpkin rolls are soooooo gooooood.)

Yeah, I cook for days for T'giving as well, but not so much that it bothers my back. Unlike you freaks, though, I do not love it. Well, I like cooking for the holidays...but that is it. Regular cooking...ugh! Just put a bullet in my head, please.

And what is a Pumpkin Roll?

Ya snob!

Ha, I kid. I like my expensive bags too.

Oh, I am TOTALLY a snob about certain things like that. My kids are LL Bean from head to toe for the most part. Not all of their clothes, of course, (cause fortunately we get tons of hand me downs) but most of what I have to buy for them comes from Bean's. Well, most of the stuff for me comes from there, too! :lmao:

HI LAR IOUS! OMG! I spewed my water on that one!

have a great day all - Hanna will be here later today, here's hoping that she doesn't stay too long! :scared:

Yup, Hanna will be visiting us this evening and into tomorrow. Can I tell you that I am actually psyched about this??? It means that we CAN'T go anywhere! No traveling this week-end! :cool1: Riley has a soccer game tomorrow afternoon and I am hoping that even that gets rained out so that I literally don't have to leave the house.

We got lisaviolet in on the act. She was spilling Canadian secrets. Sorry we missed you. But in other news, I finally figured out how to invite someone to a chat already in progress.:yay:

AWESOME! Glad to have some new folks in chat! Sorry I missed you guys last night. I went to bed a bit early (for me, that is) at about midnight since I knew I was going to do my long run today.

The gallery opening was lovely. Very well received and my mom was really proud of her work and happy, so it was nice to see.

Now I have the rest of the week-end OFF! :yay: :cheer2: :yay: :cheer2: :yay: :cheer2:

Hanna is here in NJ. Tons and tons of rain. Friends of ours are in LBI - down the shore - they are insane. This was NOT the weekend to go there.

Lyz - Love the pictures!!! Molli is so pretty and Maddi is adorable.

Backpacks - I do the cheap ones for this kid, at this age. No point in paying the Bean prices. Target had nada - going to order online Disney. They are all on sale!

Yes, yes, what is a pumpkin roll???

And, E, puzzled by your question. Explain?

I'm totally stunned. You guys haven't had a pumpkin roll? That's a big Thanksgiving dessert. Like pumpkin pie. Must have both.

The cake is pumpkin, and the icing (filling) is a cream cheese heavenly treat.

I use the recipe from Libby's. But I omit the cloves. I don't find them necessary.

That looks awesome! I loathe pumpkin pie, but THIS I would love. Recipe, please.

That looks awesome! I loathe pumpkin pie, but THIS I would love. Recipe, please.

Ha-ha. Funny you say that to ME!

Estimated Times:
Preparation - 45 min | Cooking - 13 min | Cooling Time - 1 hrs refrigerating | Yields - 10

Ingredients:

CAKE
1/4 cup powdered sugar (to sprinkle on towel)
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves (I omit)
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
FILLING
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, at room temperature
1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
6 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Powdered sugar (optional for decoration)

Directions:
FOR CAKE:
PREHEAT oven to 375° F. Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan; line with wax paper. Grease and flour paper. Sprinkle a thin, cotton kitchen towel with powdered sugar.

COMBINE flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt in small bowl. Beat eggs and granulated sugar in large mixer bowl until thick. Beat in pumpkin. Stir in flour mixture. Spread evenly into prepared pan. Sprinkle with nuts.

BAKE for 13 to 15 minutes or until top of cake springs back when touched. (If using a dark-colored pan, begin checking for doneness at 11 minutes. (It really does spring back when done. 11 minutes is perfect in my oven.) Immediately loosen and turn cake onto prepared towel. Carefully peel off paper. Roll up cake and towel together, starting with narrow end. Cool on wire rack.

FOR FILLING:
BEAT cream cheese, 1 cup powdered sugar, butter and vanilla extract in small mixer bowl until smooth. Carefully unroll cake. Spread cream cheese mixture over cake. Reroll cake. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least one hour. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

COOKING TIP:
Be sure to put enough powdered sugar on the towel when rolling up the cake so it will not stick.

My tip: Let the cake cool completely before adding filling. I tend to rush and then the warm, heavy cake doesn't roll up in to a circle, but more of an oval. I didn't make the connection for like 4 years. Some round, some oval and then I figured it out.

And what is a Pumpkin Roll?

Ugh. Thanksgiving. :headache: I cook for days and days and days...350+ pies in 2 1/2 days...all by hand, all from scratch. (where's the vomit smiley?:confused3 ). At least I'm getting paid for it. Everything hurts. My hands get sore, my shoulders & back ache from rolling pie dough....I don't even want to SEE a pie on Thanksgiving day! :crazy2: We go to my mom's house - with my whole whacko family. and I don't cook a blessed thing  (gotta love Mom!!!)

Hanna has arrived - it's pouring. Just fed the goats, and I'm soaked! We're gonna clean up, grab some Chinese food and go to some friends house to play cards on the porch (screened/weather proofed) :drinking1 have us a little par-tey in the rain!! :hippie:

Cobleskill is near my neck of the woods.... The state university there has a great agriculture program from what I understand... hope the visit went well...

paula

Lyz that is totally the same recipe I use! I think I told you am am not allowed into thanksgiving dinner if I do not bring at least one. I am usually required two to eat with the family:rotfl: .

I think we may be getting a touch of Hannah up here in the boon docks. It's raining not bad though just a mist for now. Temps have cooled and it is ten degrees cooler than it was last night!

Ever have a day at work that makes you just NOT want to go back??? I had one of those tonight! I ended up scream and yelling at one of my friends for no reason...... just because. And she was nice enough to wait for me in the parking lot, so we could follow each other home. I was going to bang in, but stupid me brought home the walky talky- thingee-ma-bob So yeah I guess I have to go in tomorrow! WHICH SUCKS!!!
Good night!

Morning Babes!

Hanna is on the way out. Just windy right now but it poured all night long. Still waiting to find out if Riley's soccer field is under water (ok, hoping!).

Nancy--I love storm parties! We do that often here as well. And 350 pies???? Shoot me now. OMG. At least you don't have to cook the dinner on top of that.

Did I tell you guys that my b'day is ON T'giving Day this year? Every few years it falls on the exact day, but we celebrate it on T'giving Day every year since that is when all of the family is around. So we always have apple pie, pumpkin pie, and birthday cake as the dessert choices. :rotfl2: I will celebrating it the following week when we are in WDW. :cool1:

LYZ--Yeah, I know. The irony was not lost on me. :lmao:

STEPH--sorry you are in sucky work mode. Your life will feel much better and more calm all the way around once you are settled in the new house. Moving is the worst, no doubt.

I am likely offline for the rest of the day. Have a great one and I will check in when I can!

Good Morning Everyone! The rain has ceased here. It still looks gloomy!
So today sunday school starts so I am off to church... I think .. not sure if I really want to go! I guess I will have to decide if I want to in the next few minutes because church is @9 and here it is 8am. And yes Lyz I have to drive to the next town to get there,I told you I live in the middle of no where!

I hope everyone has a great day!

E- I'm sorry, did i hear 11+ miles? :faint: Wow, Good job!!!

All of this talk about cooking and baking is making me starving!!!! Last christmas Bruce and I made 30 dozen christmas cut outs, all in one straight shot. By the end of the day i was literally limping around the kitchen, flour, sprinkles and icing EVERYWHERE. It was TERRIBLE.

Loved the Piggie pictures!! (and i too was expecting bacon or sausage or something for the after shot).

SO this first day of school business (was wed. this week here) is making me want a Baby.... OH boy, here we go  no way, not yet lol.

Eating has been going decent, excercising.... not so much, i've been walking the pup and playing outside with her, but TWICE this week i got on the dreadmill and 5-10 mins in, Thunder/lightning flashes, boom goes the power :headache: grrr.

I plan on hopping on later today, but Lucy starts her first day of Puppy kindergarten this morning! She's a pretty smart one so hopefully she picks the training up quickly.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday! And i'm crossing my fingers that Ike doesn't screw up anyone's travel plans!!!!

OMG did it POUR here last night! We got just over 5" of rain in about 12 hours or so. We didn't have much in the way of wind thankfully. And yes, the sun is shining, breeze is blowing - a picture perfect day here.

Sunday School restarts for us today as well - but we skipped :rolleyes1 we'll be back next week..

:rotfl: :rotfl: You DEFINITELY wouln't want my job! Right after Thanksgiving we start in with the Christmas Cookies - thousands and thousands of cookies. All those stinkin' fussy ones that people don't want to make themselves :rolleyes1

SO this first day of school business (was wed. this week here) is making me want a Baby.... OH boy, here we go  no way, not yet lol.

:scared1: :scared1: I asked DH what he thought about having another... I mean - if Sarah Palin can have a baby in her 40's, why not me? of course, I was KIDDING

I've decided that I need to clone me. Way to much to do, not enough time to get it done. Not even close! :headache:

Have a good one everybody - :goodvibes catch you back here this evening..
