In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

I owe you a workout since I didn't get a chance to walk last night... My family dinner night went long and hijacked my schedule. It didn't help that a huge piece of carrot cake found its way into my mouth....:scared1: Now I need to walk 8 miles tonight and something ese.... :confused3

Anyays - thanks for keeping me honest....

First let me say Liz love Love the suit! I almost bought a similar one but not the bikini top just the tankini top but Wal-mart had no bottoms. Our target is being built right now I think just after Christmas they will open.

So I know I told you that we are building! And ERIKA said that I need to get everything approved by the fellow Dis board members:rotfl: :lmao:
So I figured that I would go take pictures today because we have had the town over there moving the drive way and cutting the tree that were blocking the electrical lines. I got over there and I went to snap a picture and camera said battery is low and shut off. So I do promise pictures soon battery is charging, as we speak.

But I figured that I would show you the appliances that we are going to start to purchase.
So here they are:

Boy I hope those work!

Tomorrow Stephen and I are going to pick out colors for the house:cool1: and get that all squared away. Kids are off from school So it will be nice not to have my little one hanging off my feet when we are deciding all the stuff. Not asking can we go NOW! I have started tackling my closets in the basement getting rid of all the clothes that I have hoarded for years I still have my DD baby clothes and she is 13:rolleyes1 . Time to get rid of them... I am giving them to the mission center which takes donated clothes and sell them really really cheap. I have winter coats and PJ's and shoes. Of course most of my daughters clothes came from my grandmother clothing store in boston so some child will be real luck and get Italian shoes for like $4.00. I swear that child had like 30 pairs of shoes all the same size all different styles. What was that ladies name from the Philippines who had all the shoes yeah that was my daughter.
Well, off to get ready for work just two more days! Then I have two days off.:woohoo: I haven't worked five straight days in a while. I am tired plus I talked to Kat till almost 1:30 this morning:surfweb:
Hope everyone has a great day!

Oh Erika that run to the seals playground sounds wonderful. I grew up on the ocean and I used to walk the beach everyday heading to the yacht club and I loved it but we didn't have seals! It was a big deal if there were some spotted. Nothing much like to swim in boston harbor. Kennebunkport is beautiful we drove through on our way to Nova Scotia. I think we spent an afternoon there. I actually asked my brother to stop there in Jan when we were heading for my dad's. He Lives in the boon docks in Maine. A little town called Albion it is about 2 hours north of you!

You know, right before I posted I thought, I should take a picture of it! Okay, here are the pics and some links from Target...

I got this bikini top:

And, this dress, because it was cute:

Only, it is much cuter in person.

If you want to see them matched in sets, PM me for my Flickr. Or, just go back to your regularly scheduled day and ignore the crazy woman with the chocolate and bathing suits! :lmao:

Love the suite, a little jealous wish it was me, but in time I will be there, great job on not gaining, keep the mojo going. I checked out my horescope, not bad....

I am here and reading periodically... being that I am not really dieting right now, don't have much to add.

Although congrats on the .6 and the bikini!! I would love to only have put on .6 lbs but I seriously doubt that will happen.

Well, D is in the shower and we are about to head over to V&A for an anniversary dinner. Things are going well here, it is hot but Stormalong Bay is cool and nice. :)

Happy Anniversary sounds like you are having a wonderful time.:thumbsup2

DWD & 3D sounds like you two have a competition going?

I don't know were any of you get your energy to do all these different work outs. You all are an inspiration to me :worship: .

Sorry again for not posting, life just throws a lot of curve balls.

I have been doing well with walking, once again, I get bored with trying to figure out good and healthy foods to eat with out repeating to much. I have to watch the carbs, and the wheat since I and allergic to it. That is my biggest challenge, I don't have celiac (Sp) just a wheat allergy, I can tell I felt better the last two weeks not eating any thing with wheat, but I love my breads or some pasta. I think it is a mental thing I need to get over, But I do get bound up not having my fiber cereal in the morning. Does anyone else eat just meat, veggies, fruit and nothing else all day. How do you mix it up? How do you when your out and about and there is no time to make a dinner at home find something to eat. I use to stop at subway, but if wheat has been making me feel like crap for years maybe it is time to quite all to gether. I know whin whin whin, but I want to and you said you would listen:)

It didn't help that a huge piece of carrot cake found its way into my mouth....:scared1:

mmmm carrot cake. Maddi LOVES carrot cake, but only for the icing. :rotfl:

I am tired plus I talked to Kat till almost 1:30 this morning:surfweb:

Ohh fun. Love AIM. What's your name again?

I have the same appliances!

DWD & 3D sounds like you two have a competition going?

Ok. I so wish. I am a nonexerciser. I don't believe in exercise.
(just kidding, I'm just lazy, unmotivated and obviously have developed a lasting relationship with my fat.) I was just keeping her on track. Like she asked.

It is mental. But at least you KNOW you feel better. I never let myself get far enough along to actually feel better when I do things different.

I like bread and pasta too. Course I like everything.

Molli(12) gets to tour the JR High tomorrow. She's excited. I bought her a new shirt today. I'll find out immedately if I was successful or a dork. But it's easier than taking her with me.

Tball tonight.

And I'm actually watching what I eat today. Wonder of Wonders!

I am glad to hear that you are trying to get back on track... I don't have food allergies, so I don't know how those who do cope, but having lived off of the limited Jenny Craig meals for the past six months, I do know something about monotony... Since you can't eat weat, have you looked into other grains such as rice, quiona, oats, etc? They might be an option to the pastas that you are craving. Things like risotto (that truly is some comfort food and you can do low fat versions using broth) or polenta (made from corn meal) may be options that will satisfy your carb cravings without going overboard. As for the morning cereal issues, aren't there oat based cereals that are high in fiber to help keep things moving. Of course, you can also look at your fruit and veggie intake as another source of fiber. You may want to surf over to some food websites like the Food Network, Martha Steward, Epicurious, etc and scan through their recipies and menus to get ideas for new dishes or combinations. You may be surprised at how a simple tweak to an old standard can make an entirely new thing.

Good luck and let me know if we can do anything....

Hi all! Hope you are all having a good day. Me? eh---just so-so.

I had a good boot-camp workout today. Still have to do my core. Will post that later.

DWD & 3D sounds like you two have a competition going?

Yes...we are competing for who can go the longest withOUT losing a single pound! :lmao:

I know whin whin whin, but I want to and you said you would listen:)

We WILL! Keep on walking!

Middle school scare the beejeebers out of me! Good luck to you and Mol.

And I'm actually watching what I eat today. Wonder of Wonders![/B][/COLOR]

Well, then you have me beat. I was great up until about 3:30. Then I just went NUTS! I was totally ravenous! I didn't eat anything bad...just TOO DARN MUCH.

I had my workout from 12 - 1 and usually I just come right home and fix something to eat. Well, Kel had a playdate at the park followed by her tennis lesson, so I didn't get home till about 3:15 and I was so hungry I over-ate!

I can likely still redeem myself if I stick with a dinner salad and no snacks tonight (which is hard b/c I am up till 1am and can't go from 6pm dinner till 1am without any food).

I am officially exhausted. I can't keep my eyes open and it is only 5. I actually took a 20-minute cat nap on the couch and just woke up. (All 3 kids are outside playing). And no, there is no way I can get to bed early either tonight or tomorrow night. I should be able to on Saturday, but something may come up between now and then.

Does anyone have any big plans for the holiday week-end? Just sports stuff here. Tennis, t-ball, lacrosse....and I think there is one more event but I can remember it for the life of me now.

Steph--nice job on the appliances. Yup...I have been to Albion. That is plum in the middle of po-dunk, Maine! :rotfl: Glad you like my town. I love it here, for the most part.

Bathroom remodeling: more later. Too tired to deal.

Alright Molli, just seems like yesterday mine were going to Middle school, tell ya the truth I still wish they were.

Thanks for the feed back, I know it is metal , I can't seem to get my brain to stop thinking I can't have it, then I just want it more. :headache: Dawn said I look like I have lost weight, so atleast it is working. THANKS DAWN I needed that.

I will look them up, that really helps because I did not know where to start, I do eat oatmeal in the morning, but I really have to look at the ingredients of other things, you would be surprised what all have wheat in it. I did go to a coop in town and they had some pasta made with rice, have not tried it yet, I think this weekend. The bread I found is made from rice to and it is ok if you toast and put peanut butter on other wise it's kind of like eating card board. :sad2:

I have been through many ordeals in my life and this to I will survive. I thought I cooked ok before, maybe this is a change in my life to start cooking creatively and getting really good at it. :woohoo: FOOD NETWORK HERE I COME.

Update on Brother & Sister in law: Ok I will have to get back to this, my DD just came running down stairs and said they have practice at 6:30 it is now 6:40. got to run. :scared: we are 12 miles from town.

Ohh fun. Love AIM. What's your name again?

I have the same appliances!

my screen name is snuffy1991, what is yours?
So do you like your appliances? Did I make good choices? Of course they aren't my first choice but I can't afford my first choice. I figured that I would get the middle of the line not the cheapest but not the most expensive. Someday I want a professional kitchen. My cousin put one in her house and I loved it she is a chef or was. Now she paints houses in Maine. I have two relatives in Maine gee maybe one of theses days I will meet Erika! She's in Rockland Erika! Still 2 hours from you.
Well of to watch Grey's have a great night

Thanks re the suit! Love the appliances. Wow, so shiny and fancy!!! :goodvibes You are very brave to build a whole house. I am doing bits and pieces at a time, remodeling an old house, and the thought of picking out every single thing is overwhelming! Good for you! I hope it's fun!!!

Paula, awesome suggestions...I often forget about all the grains that are out there. In Vancouver I had this grain that was so yummy and sweet and it turned out to be native to the region, Canadian wheat berry. Wow, it was delicious! I know there are other grains I've never heard of or eaten! We need a "great grains" lesson - who knows a nutrionist/chef?

I have brown rice pasta. Once you get used to it, it's no different from eating whole wheat! It's pretty yummy.

YES, tell us about the brother and sister in law update!!!

No...it didn't get better.

I am pissy and tired and frustrated and I am burned out on focusing on my weight and health and annoyed beyond words that no matter how much I exercise I haven't seen either the scale move or the inches come off in about 2 months if not more.

<holy run-on sentence!>

I am sure that all of this is just from being over-tired. When I am well-rested, the entire world looks different, kwim?

Sorry for being a grouch.

I am sure I will get back on the wagon tomorrow. (Not that I am really off today...I worked out, etc. But my eating was off.) And I realized that I have gotten lax about my water, so I will have to go back to charting it.

Another part of this (I think I mentioned yesterday), is that my house is in chaos due to the painters. And it is filthy. And there is no use cleaning it because they are just coming back tomorrow to make more of a mess, etc.

So, I have to pick out a paint color for the downstairs bath and I just can't figure it out. All of the other rooms are set but this one. The problem is that we have natural woodwork trim (not painted white) so there are only a few colors that really look good with the trim. It has to be a very warm color (no shades of blue would ever work, for example) and I already have used all of the other warm colors and/or earth tones everywhere else. And in some cases twice....so I don't want to just keep using the same colors everywhere.

Anyway, I will retreat back into my cave so as not to infect you all with my nasty and negative self.

Ok I am back, went for a long walk found a great place with nice paths then finished watching sara's practice. I Just made myself a bowl of popcorn and a glass of skim milk now it's time to update.

So most of you know we bought BIL's house to help them catch up on financial issues 1 yr 8 months ago under huge protest, father, mother in - law and banker said it will be ok there will be no problems, HA HA HA why oh why did we not listen to our selves :confused3 .

Ok jump to today we get a call from our realitor who could not get ahold of BL for 8 days, but when she did she got an ear full. They are moving out on the 31st of this month, (remember they have not been paying any rent to us for months, living there for free, we even asked if they could make a lower payment until they get this figure out, but no can do.) Now they are going to be renting a home in the area, bascially they dumped their home on us even though we own it ,but that was only until they could get finacing again to buy it back from us, but continue to pay rent, which they aren't. But they can go rent from a stranger!!! I know I sound anoid, well I am . BiL told our realitor that they don't think we handle this very well and they don't understand why it is such a big deal, that they are having hard times.

How many people out there can afford two house payment and one you don't even live in? Plus the market is not very good right now and I don't even know how long it will take to sell so that will be more money out of our pockets each month to pay for this house. We are not going to be coming out of this very well.

Now the sad news is my husbands parents are upset with us. So we had a little talk with them today and basically BIL has them on the poor him kick, but they are not worried about the other brother who is losing a lot of money, plus this family uproar. We have a family, kid in college, bills. Hello I mean don't get me wrong I feel bad they had to lose there home, I just wish we weren't involved, so I could be suppotive, but now they are angry and SL is bitter ( this was her dream home). FIL said he loves both his kids, but he thinks Lyle (DH) could have done something different. I don't know what else we could have done. They already got $70,000.00 out of this and 5 month free rent, plus they get to move on. We gave them 20 months, eight months more than the contract said. Ok I don't know if I explained this very well, there was so many emtions going on dealing with the in laws my head just wants to explode.

The realitor said BIL & SIL are very delusional about this whole thing in there own little world.

In my option I think BIL & SIL owe my husband a big appology for not paying and putting us in this bind plus hard feeling with his parents. We can only kick our selves for saying yes when we knew better.

So everyone please pray we can sell this home we are really straped and I am afraid it is only going to get worse.

Oh, one more note FIL tells us when we are leaving that BIL has never paid rent to him in his shop for 7 years and that BIL had him add in another stall for his trucks to park . So he did and it cost FIL more in taxes and heating & water bill. SO he says I think I am going to tell MIL he is going to have to go or start paying I can not afford him. HMMMM this would have been good information to pass on to us when they asked for our help. Does DEAD BEAT COME IN MIND. An they expect us to bail him out....

Sorry if I came across *****y.

No...it didn't get better.

I am pissy and tired and frustrated and I am burned out on focusing on my weight and health and annoyed beyond words that no matter how much I exercise I haven't seen either the scale move or the inches come off in about 2 months if not more.

<holy run-on sentence!>

Okay, first of all missy...you do not have to go back into your cave unless you want to! That is what we are here for. My word, I am the Queen of grouchy and bad days and ennui...so don't feel you have to be Miss Sunshine for us!

Having said that, I know it will get better. :goodvibes It always does. And float those colors by us, I love to pick out house stuff when it doesn't affect me. ;)

Wow. That is so insane that they are giving you attitude! All you did was try to help them! Aren't they at all grateful for your help? Why are they moving out now? And renting somewhere? Instead of paying YOU? Seems very strange to me! Did they both lose their jobs or something? Sorry, I am so nosy about this!

Seems like tonight's conversation is all about houses.... Between those that are trying to get rid of one (without ticking off the rest of the family), renovating or building one...

So - for those who are renovating or building, I am remindin you all that I am an architect / construction manager and am willing to help where I can. And Erika - if you send pictures, I am pretty good at selecting colors and coordinating finishes.... have you thought about browns, blacks, grays or even some shades or red or green to go with the natural wood trim instead of sticking to strictly earth tones.... just a thought...

Jodi - my heart goes out to you... this is not an easy position to be in at all and your MIL and FIL should know better than to resent you for doing what they have been unable to say to your BIL over the years... Put up or shut up... You MIL and FIL need to realize that it is not their job nor yours to continue to bail out your BIL. Unless your BIL is dying or at the point where he physically can't work (which I hope is not the case since that would be just awful), he needs to find a way to make some money and learn to live within his means. That is what being a responsible adult means. It is not your job to care and support him financially. You need to take care of yourself and your children first. He got $70,000 of your money for what? How dare he ask for more on top of failing to repay his part of the bargain... Stay strong... you are doing the right thing... even if your in laws don't see it now, they will someday...

I am off to bed....

Goof

No they did not lose there jobs, they just lived way above there means. Huge credit card issue and lots of high living.

The money was to help pay some of his credit cards off and get him started making better choices so he could get on his feet faster and buy the house back. Not sure what he did with the money though. Like I said dumb move on our part we can't blame anyone else but us..

Thanks for all the support and listening guys, I will get back to talking about more happy and fun things promise. :flower3:

I am off to bed to sweet dreams to all...

So do you like your appliances? Did I make good choices?

Yes. The ss, fingerprints and water and such, marring the shiny, gets to be a pain. But when they look good, they look great. KWIM? Mine are a few years in, so maybe your ss is fingerprint proof.

How did Molli like the shirt???

I scored. It fit and looked good.

Hi all! Hope you are all having a good day. Me? eh---just so-so.

EriKa, sorry you are so exhausted. Can you sleep in on Sunday morning? With your mom and dad out of the country, you don't HAVE to be at church. I do better when I know I will get some sleep eventually.

Anyway, I will retreat back into my cave so as not to infect you all with my nasty and negative self.

Come back out and play.

Did you slide up or down the color spectrum for a different shade of the same color? That's what we do. Paint the walls the bold color and then paint the ceiling the lighter color on the same swatch. Then the white crown stands out between the two.

And, because you are painting the bathroom, you can go all out. Some funky color. Bathrooms are closed off, and not a public space. Red will match your asian vibe. Or Cranberry. Cranberry's better with a nonwhite trim. How about plum?

I know, I'm probably not helping at all, condisering I don't know any of your other colors, but...

Our garbage disposal didn't work for a year, just because I didn't want the hassle of the plumber coming over. Well, when we had all those water issues a couple months back, he had to come over. Solved the disposal issue in like 5 minutes.:confused3 My point being, I feel you, cranky and unsettled.

The realitor said BIL & SIL are very delusional about this whole thing in there own little world.

Ya think? People like that never grow up till they are made too. They'd encourage you to do the same thing if it was someone else, but it's not, so to them it's personal. Sorry you are going thru this.

I love to pick out house stuff when it doesn't affect me. ;)

So TRUE!

.... have you thought about browns,

ohhh, brown, like my best friend chocolate.

Jodi--this is a travesty! I am just boiling for you on this one!

You are already a better person than me for feeling sorry for SIL. I am sure it was her dream home....but COME ON! You do not get to live in your dream home unless you can AFFORD it!!! Hello?!?!? I would like to spend several MONTHS a year in a 2-br DVC....but guess what? I am not gazillionaire! So I can't do it. Do I go around blaming others for not giving me money so that I can live in my dream place????

Your realtor is correct...they are absolutely delusional. Seriously whacked. And sorry to say it, but your in-laws are not far off either. How they cannot see this is beyond me.

PLEASE have them call me! :lmao: I will explain it to them in not-so-complicated terms if you catch my drift! Sorry...I just hate injustice.

And what the hell??? They can afford to pay rent somewhere else and not to you? WHAT???? Who are these people? What planet are they on?

Just a thought that might help reconcile this situation (down the road...it will be a while before there are no bad feelings....). If you and Lyle can swing it, don't sell the house, but rent it out (to someone willing to actually pay rent, of course). And that way, if BIL and SIL ever get their sh*t together and get enough money to buy it back, then that option is still there.

You can spin it this way...tell them that since they are moving into a smaller/less expensive place, they can start saving money so that they can get financing, etc. and buy the house back. Thus, they don't feel like they are "losing" the house. But rather, they are just not living in it until they can afford it. It will still be there waiting for them when they are financially ready. It might help to soften the blow. Just a thought.

I feel for you, though....money and family is never a good mix.

And with this economy, who can manage that amount of extra payment going out the window?? Did anyone watch NBC nightly news last night? Brian Williams said that by the end of THIS summer, gas will be close to $6.00/gal. That is truly life-changing. No one will get in their cars without really thinking, "do I need to go to this place?" I am terrified of what is happening. But that is all way off topic here.

Which reminds me...Lyz....car pics? How do you like it? And have you has to gas it up yet???

And the airline industry! How am I going to get to Disney all the time????

Ok--the paint issue...

I have lots of colors that I love with my woodwork. BUT...I have used them all! The "main" part of the house (kitchen, living, dining, hallways...open concept house, so these rooms all need to be the same) are all two shades of green...a lighter sage and a darker "accent" on certain walls (called "dried basil" from Benjamin Moore). Then in the playroom I have a nice buttery yellow. My office is a deep Moroccan red (LOVE that), and the mudroom is taupey shade. The bar (bonus room) is cranberry.

Now, I have already repeated the Moroccan red (it is in my office as well as the Master bath). I have repeated the yellow (though different shade. I have a deeper, richer shade in the kids' bath than the yellow that is in the playroom). And the taupe-y color is also in my master bedroom.

So, as Lyz said, I can be somewhat fun with paint choices in a bathroom. So I wanted a pumpkin spice sort of color. Got a sample and painted a swatch. HORRID!!! Pretty clear that nothing in that color spectrum will work. My other choice was an eggplant-y purple. Looked black. (There is no window in this bath, but there are very bright lights.)

I could use the taupe-type colors again....but that is brown. This is the downstairs bath...the one any guests use, etc. I want it to be special. And brown is just...blah. My next attempt will be a raisin color. A brownish red.

So now what? I don't want it to be pink. Wouldn't go with my house and Jeff would vomit. I have gone through the rainbow....red,orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. None of 'em will work. What do I do now???

Ok, here is my house again....

In the living room, you can see the dark green accent wall. The other wall look white, but are sage green.

livingroom1.jpg

Same for the dining room. One accent wall (the wall with the wine rack...it is actually darker than it looks in the pics) and the other walls are the sage. This is a good pic of the trim, so you can see what colors might work with it.

3DK, Your house is beautiful. I'm no help with paint color. When we moved in 2 years ago, this house was stark white-every single room. My kids picked the colors of their rooms,(taupe with one dark brown wall-turquoise bedding, taupe with a deep green with blue specks like sand? and my middle son picked quiksilver 'cuz he liked the name LOL. It is actually a steely blue color and looks good with black) my DH picked the game room (blue from a pottery barn catalog cover -I did black wood furniture and some zebra print and black and white pix of the kids in black frames- my fav. room in the house) and our bedroom- a warm goldy color. The rest of the house is Laura Ashley taupe #3Because I couldn't decide LOL. It's a nice color, and at least 5 of my friends now have taupe#3 someplace in their house.
Jodi,
My nephew is allergic to wheat (he does have celiac's, though). Our Kroger, Central Market, and Whole Foods all have pretty good selections of alternatives- He enjoys the "rice" mac and cheese, and spaghetti, frozen pizza, potato rolls, etc. They all say wheat free products. They tried several brands of bread, he said one is not as awful as the others. He eats sandwiches on the rolls. I cannot recall the brands, sorry. I can check if it will help. He also eats corn chips, corn tortillas.
I'm doing pretty good on food choices, drinking lots of water, limit 1 Dr. Pepper a day- I'm addicted. 1 is good. Today I met a friend for lunch, did great, grilled chicken salad from Logan's steak house- Do y'all have Logan's?
They have the best rolls. I didn't eat one or 2. I was good. But then, I drove through Sonic- to get my one Dr. Pepper and ordered a #8- cheese sticks. Just because I always do. I felt so stupid, I wasn't even hungry, It's just a really bad habit. Luckily I was going to a friends house who has 13 year old twins. They ate them.
