In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Okay - need to catch up on weekends...but this weekend was really good...

Baylor had his first hockey game on Saturday - we did not think he would be able to play after the burn this year at all...and he did awesome...all the aprents were glad he was there...very welcoming...and he scored! I cried...I am so proud of him and all he has overcame in such a short time...he was the last ine on the ice to warm up because it takes him a while to bandage his leg - get extra protection against blisters etc...and he is concious about doing that in front of the guys...so hopefullythat will ease as well as time goes on...

Then Dan and Baylor and I spdent the day - shopping...went to Trader Joe's...(does anyone have them by them?) and I looove that store...bought a Flat bread (sort of) that is almost an exact replica of the one at Chefs de France in Epcot...called Tarte J' Alsace by Maitre Pierre...8 oz and 4 servings at 150 calories each...
title says "A French Style Flat Bread with ham, carmelized onions & gruyere cheese." The other amazing thing is the stores policy is if you buy something..do not like it...bring back the box/reciept and they will give you an exchange or money back! The place has all organic/natural/not processed good foods...and low prices...

Found some Gnu bars there to try and got fiber cereal!

The pupp's name is Ace. Yup...Baylor's dog and he settled on a name finally...it has been good BC for all of us...Baylor said "if this is how much work a baby is...I don't want one"... we have all been taking nights getting up to let him out at about 4am...have a kenel now and he is adapting well at it...

I will try and post a pic of him today...

Need to find my cord to connect the camera with the computer! Moving my office was great fun and still have a few boxes to sort! It better be in there...
Tom is here again...I used to only have him visit 2-3 times a year...now he is a reg. pain in the tukkus...

Okay - that is it...finished New Moon...off to get the 3rd one...addicting...better than chocolate...really!

Love Trader Joes, but they aren't around here. :( Can't wait to see pics of the new addition! I am so glad that somebody else knows what a tukkus is. Some of the college kids at work think I am an idiot when I say that. :lmao:

Awesome for Baylor! I am sure that was tough mentally on him.

Hey Ladies,

Checking in from detox here, making sure I didn't post anything totally ridiculous last night. Thankfully I didn't. Totally not hungover or anything. I think I drank 6 beers and 2 spiced cider drinks. I am just tired. I was up past midnight 3 nights in a row. I think it has caught up with me.

Kat--I always wondered why I had uneven wear on my shoes until I went to a running store last year. Totally sweet deal on the shoes. Sorry about the pink! pretty soon they'll be dirty and you won't be able to tell! As for C25k, you might want to start maybe at week 3-4.

Kelly--Glad you can see Edward now!

I've got C25K scheduled for this evening.

Mummm, spiced cider (sounds like a disguise for a hot toddy, just sayin).

Happy Monday everyone! So far this morning, I'm dealing with a migraine (which stinks) but I figure the day can only improve from here. :guilty:

So, I had a bit of a "aha!" moment on Friday. I had the day off from work, and after doing a bunch of laundry and errands, I headed off shopping. I desperately need some new work clothes -- everything is too tight and looks terrible. :sad2: Anyway, it was a depressing shopping day -- I didn't like anything I tried on, so bought some track pants and shoes and that's about it.

Well, fast forward to Friday evening. DH and I were watching "What Not to Wear" (love that show), and they were highlighting a bunch of ladies who had lost significant amounts of weight but were still wearing their old huge clothes. A lot of discussion centered around body image, and one of the women said that she couldn't buy new clothes because, although she had lost 40 pounds, she still wasn't finished yet. Therefore (here's the aha part), she didn't DESERVE to get new clothes. Couldn't buy them until she had lost ALL the weight.

The point was that she would feel a whole lot happier and confident if she were wearing clothes that fit (no matter what size she was). So I finally had a heart to heart conversation with myself, and the next day, I went shopping again. I bought 4 new pairs of pants.....a size larger than I had been trying on the day before. Surprise surprise -- they looked 100% better on me and I felt 100% better wearing them. ::yes::

So, I know I will eventually get this weight off. But I am a heck of a lot more comfortable in clothes that fit my body right now. To me, this is a big step.

Okay, this week I plan to work my exercise, improve my food choices, and stay away from alcohol (must've been all the superbowl wine last night that caused this migraine, and I have no desire to go there again this week).

Have a great day! (and give yourself a hug today for the beautiful person you are, inside and out).

Lisa, I just love WNtW ~ so empowering! You are saying some very inspiring words.

Ok, the challenge is up! If anyone needs me to make changes, just let me know!

LisaZ...if you want to be in the challenge, just say so! It is never too late around here!

Meeting went well. The client loved me and offered me a FT job. :rotfl2: No thanks...I would have to move to Iowa! :scared: But I will do the consulting gig and their money offer was fair. Not great, but certainly inline with what others offer, so I can't complain. One thing about my line of work is that often times it is exploding while others are losing their jobs. (The government has the re-education program for those who lose their jobs, so many down-sized people can go back to school to finish their degree or get a new degree, thus online universities have enrollment booms. Then those universities call me to design their programs, etc.)

Ok, time to get ready to go up to campus. Every Monday. Yuck. (Really, it isn't bad at all. I just like to complain about it.)

Iowa ~ no way! Congrats on the gig!!!

Erika, that sounds exciting! Glad that they took the stress off.

So, they sent us a bunch of pictures of our game yesterday. Man, those pants are NOT flattering!! The guy took like 500 pictures, including one of me shooting in the shootout, so I picked out a few of them and uploaded them to my own album, here:

I am obviously #77, and a few of them are resized versions. Like this one!

Kat that is too cool!

Hi everyone,

Just got back from the gym for a quick cardio workout. Note to self: JC's mac and cheese and a salad is not enough fuel to go to the gym on. I developed a wicked headache about ten minutes in, pushed myself to the 25 minute mark and then gave up and did my cool down and came home. Not a great workout, but a workout none the less.

Nancy - this is for you since you reminded me.

Went to JC and here are the results:

weight lost - 3.5 pounds (OMG - I am still in shock about that)
measurements (won't post the specifics, but will post the number of inches lost from when I started in Sept. '07 until now:

bust: -1.5"
waist: -4"
abdomen: -6"
hips: -2.5"

Total inches lost: 14"

I was stunned at the abdomen change. That is my biggest problem area so I'll be looking for that to keep going down.

I am off to take something for my headache and then tackle my taxes. Hope everyone is having a good night.!

I'll check in later,
Paula

Paula, that is outstanding!:cheer2:

Nancy - thanks for the kind words... Good luck with your session tomorrow morning. Mine is tomorrow night. Definitely need to eat better before I go.

Thanks!!! I am very psyched...

Sure you were just watching TV...;) just kidding. I can't chime in on prepping the kids, but it sounds like a good idea.

Parents?

Yes, I swear, lol. We watched CSI by candlelight.

Everybody that I missed ~ I'm sorry it wasn't on purpose! Hope you are doing well!

Totally innocent...mmmm. OK, I'll give you that one for now, but it does sound promising.

Kat - Forgot to mention that I am loving the HockeyKat photos. You look awesome out there.

Erika - Thanks for the kind words. I really want to rock this challenge.

Off to catch some sleep. Need to get rid of my headache.

Catch you tomorrow,
Paula

Thanks for the hall pass, lol. Just taking it one day at a time. At the very least, I have a little adult company who isn't family.

Kat that is too cool!

Kat - thanks for the pics. Loved them.

Kat - Forgot to mention that I am loving the HockeyKat photos. You look awesome out there.

Paula! PAULA! OMG! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: That is AMAZING!

Do I need to say it, really???

GODDESS CROWN, totally!

I am so proud of you. You have really been working hard and here is the proof! And holy crap are you gonna kick this challenge's a$$!

KAT--love the pics. Did you choose 77 because of Borque? He is a hero in this house.

Food = 870 calories so far, though will have bit more tonight. I may end up low which usually happens on Mondays...I work straight through without a break.
Alcohol = nada
Water = working on it, but mostly done.
Exercise = 1 hour strength/cardio intervals. Core to come.

Thanks guys!!! I really appreciate it. I chose 77 because of Paul Coffey. He played for the Pittsburgh Penguins when I was a huge fan of them (jr high/high school era) and I have liked the number ever since.

PAULA!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I am SOOO impressed, and so motivated.

Okay, here comes the fun/exciting/scary part of my day. We found out at practice tonight that our first game of the tournament (which is against another team in the Raleigh women's hockey organization that I belong to) has been moved... to an NHL arena!!!

That weekend (Feb 13-15), is Hockey Weekend Across America for USA Hockey, and the RBC Center has graciously donated the ice time, refs, and scorekeepers to our organization. Very nice of them.

We are going to be playing where the 'Canes play! Sure, it seats 18,000 and we will have like 10 people there watching, but still. I will get to change in the same locker room as an NHL team, play on ice where all 30 NHL teams have played. SOOOO exciting!!! :yay:

Good morning everyone!!

Kat, love, love, love the hockey pics. I showed them to Shelby and she thought you looked mighty cool!! Hey, she's 14 you have to know exactly how awesome that is getting a cool from a 14yo.

Paula, OMG girl!!!! :rockband: You so totally rock!!! What huge changes you have made already!!

Dawn, Yay for Baylor and hockey. It has to take some super guts to do what he is doing! I got a tear in my eye just reading about the game. :sad1: The Princess 2010 should be 3/7. It is daylight savings weekend which kind of bites. Instead of getting up at 3 though, you will be getting up at 4. Pencil it in. If you go, I will make every effort in the world to be there too. ::yes::

Erika, Iowa, yeeesh :beach: This is where I want to go if I move from our little paradise here. Oh wait, I did that and moved back. :lmao: Congrats on the job offer and the tri definitely sounds very manageable. Indoor pool with laps, someone would drown me for sure. :sad2:

LisaZ, WNtW is a favorite in this house too. Well, except with Mike, he hates it. I have watched it since the beginning. :cool1:

Trader Joes, we don't have them here. Heck we are happy to have stores!! No just kidding. When I stayed with Joanne (Groovygirls) for the Hollis HM she had these totally awesome cinnamon rolls that you take out frozen and let rise overnight to humongoness. They were beyond delicious and hit the spot after the HM for sure. Well that and the apple crisp that you get. :thumbsup2

As for me, Shelby's friend ended up sick yesterday (TOM for teens is he-well we all remember) so we ended up not going to the gym. I ran for 3 and skied for 3 for a total of 6 miles yesterday. By the time we got to swimming in the heat of the pool area, I was nodding off. Thank goodness Shelby kept talking. :mic: Then to dinner where I was the first to arrive and no one had called for ressies and we had 12 people landing in a matter of minutes. :scared1: :scared1: The place was great and they fit us in. Dinner was nice, then home and pretty much straight to bed after David got done reading. Up at 4 and home at 8 makes for a long day for me, especially when you throw 6 miles in there!! Today I have 4-5 miles and I will most likely ski. Thankfully not much on the agenda so maybe we can find normal again..:upsidedow

Have a great day everyone!!! :flower3:

GOOD MORNING

I feel your pain about your MIL...Chad's was a nightmare times a bilion...as long as your hubby stands by you and knows she is in the wrong on her behavior...let him deal with her...it will strengthen you two...andd it makes your load lighte because it really is her problem...not yours...

Thats what Ive got to remember - her problem, not mine!

It's called living in a bubble...but you...may pop it...and prove science wrong!:rotfl2: :lmao:

I wish I was in a bubble today - the snow has turned to 3 inch thick ice! :scared:

Baylor had his first hockey game on Saturday - we did not think he would be able to play after the burn this year at all...and he did awesome...all the aprents were glad he was there...very welcoming...and he scored! Thats great that Baylor is playing Hockey again! :cool1:

Your MIL is a b$tch and I hate her for you. That's all!

:grouphug:

:rotfl2: :lmao: at Cake. We love Cake the BAND. We stay away from cake the food!

Ive never heard of Cake the band! I thought you meant food! :lmao:

Good Morning!

Paula - Congrats on the lost pounds and inches! I think I might have to find a tape measure and do that.

Monday
Points 26
Water 6

Need to work on water today and make sure I get all of my points in. Seems like if I don't eat something that isn't really good for me I have a really hard time making it to 28 points.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning! All of these early birds these days! :rotfl2:

My house is blissfully empty and quiet. I am going to power through some work FIRST for a change and try to get things done in the right priority order.

Sunny! Great job yesterday! Way to go! What day of the week do you weigh in? Are you going to meetings or just doing WW online?

Kat--super cool about the arena! Take TONS of pics!

Lisa/PR--great job yesterday, though I am sure you were exhausted.

I'll pop back in later.

P.S. I am wearing my size 4 jeans today. They are a bit snug, but not too bad. Also just out of the wash, so I am going to wear them for a bit and see if I can actually put them back in circulation! :cool1:

Good Morning Everybody!

We have another round of snow coming through today and nearly everybody just got their power back Sunday. :crazy2: Hopefully, it won't be as bad as last week. Today is the kid's first day back to school on a normal schedule and it is strange! We live on a deadend street, so there is still a bunch of ice and slush on the road. Ryan is going to be unhappy, but I am taking him. If I slid last night, there is no doubt he will.

I'm going to track today for the first time ever. Hope I do it right.

See ya after work!

Yeah!!! Jeans always get more comfy as the day goes on. Good luck!:cool1:

Kat - How exciting to be playing on the NHL ice. That is totally sweet... Enjoy every minute of it and be sure to take some pictures so the rest of us can live vicariously through you. I can't wait to hear all about this tournament.

P.S. I am wearing my size 4 jeans today. They are a bit snug, but not too bad. Also just out of the wash, so I am going to wear them for a bit and see if I can actually put them back in circulation! :cool1:

Whoo hoo on the size 4's!!!! Gotta love when something that used to be snug isn't anymore.

Sunny - way to stay on program... sounds like you had an awesome day yesterday.

Lisa PR - Thanks for the rockin words. I am so excited about having everything finally click that I can't quite put it into words. Hiring the trainer was the best thing I could have done for myself right now. So worth the money for the confidence, the strength, the everything. The weight loss is the added bonus, but the way I am feeling right now is truly priceless.

LisaV - you are always so sweet with your words. Thank you for caring the way you do.

Kelly - be careful on that ice. Hang in there Spring is coming.

Liz - How is Jodi doing? More importantly, how are you doing?

Lyz - How are the taxes coming? Hopefully, a little closer to the finish line?

LisaZ - What have you been up to?

Amiee - I'll grant you a hall pass anytime. Enjoy the adult time.

Amy - How are you? Your next run is getting closer... feeling ready?

Dawn - How's Ace doing?

Steph - Where are you? Has Mocha kidnapped you or something?

Stacey - How are things with you?

Nancy - I expect a full report on your training session. Hope it wasn't too painful.

I hope I haven't forgotten anyone... Sorry if I did. I really need to print out the cheat sheet and post it next to my monitor.

Off to get some work done. Have a great day everyone!!!!! :wave2:
Paula

PAULA!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: That is so AWESOME!!!!! (Yes, I'm yelling, how freaking exciting. You are on a roll now.)

Kat - love the pictures, and NHL arena!!! Holy smokes HockeyKat! Yaaay.

EriKa - size 4:thumbsup2 - all you gals who are "on" are seeing the results of your efforts.:cheer2:

Amiee - I am facinated by your past. Very interesting reading. Sorry you had to go thru all that. Did you know I hate men? Just ask any of the oldies. They'll tell you.

Nothing exciting to report. I'm accomplishing things and on target mind wise. Yaay for me.

Layta.
