In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Kat - have a wonderful time. Yeah for you.

Amiee - I think you said this. I can get anything shipped here. I'm just really watching the moulah and those bars would be an extra so I want to try one from a store.

Hi to all.

Lisa - :wave2: Good to see you. Busy days.

Paula - I hate that too. Sometimes I'm at a school without access or I just can't do it.

I'm home today and guess who was on the View - The Duggars!!!:lmao:. I had no idea about the background to why they have so many kids. That they were on birth control after their first and she became pregnant while on the pill. Some kind of sperm or some kind of ovaries or both, eh? :lmao:

And they lost that baby because of the pill they said and that saddened them. So off BC and voila.

Good to hear about Allison being able to sleep some (whoops on the single "L"). Whenever I hear her name I think of Elvis Costello. I so love him. I used to listen to him all the time in university - I haven't in years and years and years.

Lyz - you always post what I forget or somehow missed. So thanks.

Nancy, I forgot to say I loved the quote about your kids at the grocery store.

Just taking a quick read to catch up and post a few things...

So. My workout. It was kind of like child birth. Painful as I went thru it, but now I'm struggling to recall the details of what went on! :rotfl2:

Because we had the intense cardio thrown in here and there - my heart rate was "up" the entire time. When we were done, I hit the elliptical for 30 minutes.... :goodvibes

Nancy - I am exhausted just reading about your workout. The fact that you did 30 minutes on the elliptical afterwards is just impossible to me. My sessions are similar in that my heartrate is up the entire time. It is a little less intense as we are at different fitness levels, but it kills me the same as yours does you. I'll see if I can recall tonight's workout when I get home so we can compare notes...

Liz - I'll write more about Girl Scouts later tonight.

BTW - it is the evil cookie selling time of year. Please buy cookies to support your troops and your councils. This is their primary source of income and scouting offers such great programs for our girls. My advice is to promptly donate the cookies to your local food pantry upon receipt so that you don't eat them. A simple act will help two organizations...

Lyz - glad that Allison is doing well today...

OK - gotta run... talk to you all later tonight when I am done being Jesse's Girl.... (that just cracks me up...)

Paula

Also, Seth. Is he doing ROTC? Let's brag on him for a bit, shall we? This is major, a kid about to leave the nest. Let's hear more.

Well - since you asked...

Yes - that's the plan..He's been accepted at Norwich University (his first choice of schools) and is planning on going Army ROTC. It is a Military school..(much like any of the service academies, but they offer all branches of service, plus the option of being a *traditional* non-military student) Yeah -it's a *huge* deal, in my mind!

He's currently in the process of doing his Army ROTC scholarship application. Almost all of the pieces are in place - just has to do one more thing. A medical waiver actually - which should be no big deal, just another *thing* to do. If that comes thru (crossing fingers!) he has the potential for getting a full scholarship (plus a monthly stipend - because the Army wants these kids in SCHOOL, not working) - of course, in return, he must do his "time" in the Army after graduation. Without the scholarship? $$$$ :faint: ...but the University has already given him quite a nice package of academic scholarships to date - so we'll see what happens...

His expected course work is perfect fit for him, IMO. It's kind of a combo of civil engineering/architecture/construction management (I think the Army Corps of Engineers would like that as well!)

It's really very bittersweet. He's a great kid now. I wouldn't have always said that!:crazy2: We had our challenges, and typical struggles - but he has become a person that I really and truly LIKE. And enjoy spending time with. So - it's kind of difficult to think about him leaving. But - on the other hand...I know that he can go forth and be successful...and if this route is what he honestly wants to take? God bless him! Where would we be as a country today, if it weren't for all those men & women of our military? :confused3

And speaking of my "little cherub"....the boys are home now...exam week...gonna go check in and see how their brains feel :goodvibes

The exercise isn't really weight loss for me although I'll take it and it helps for sure. It's all about my mental health. It really makes a difference.

For me too. Definitely. The "weight loss" part - totally an added benefit

Nancy - I got tired just reading your training session!

WORD. :rotfl2: I need a nap

Ha. Love that your little one is a rule enforcer! Hi Lar Ious! Let's call her a Leader, not Bossy.

That just totally reminded me....When DS was in 1st grade the comment on his report card was "has good ideas for classroom management" :rotfl: I just about died. Great. He's bossy at school too :rotfl2:

Allison is doing ok today. Still in pain, but able to sleep.[/B][/COLOR]

Glad to hear it. :grouphug:

And they lost that baby because of the pill they said and that saddened them. So off BC and voila.

yeah. "Voila". that about sums it up :lmao:

Nancy - I am exhausted just reading about your workout. The fact that you did 30 minutes on the elliptical afterwards is just impossible to me. I'm really tired now - but good tired. But kinda "spent" feeling. I had nothing "big" on my to-do list today - and definitely if I were working today I would NOT have hit the elliptical. I'm really pushing myself hard right now - trying to take advantage of the time that I have, while I have it, ya know?

GOOD IDEA! I think I'll do just that.:thumbsup2

OK - gotta run... talk to you all later tonight when I am done being Jesse's Girl.... (that just cracks me up...)

ha ha! Think of me when you are humming that little Rick Springfield tune during your workout! :rotfl2:

Treyer and I are a lot alike so we never went through any bad periods...bad moments yes...both quick to fuse and quick to de-fuse...last day of finals as well and my nerves are at and end...teachers still have not put in missing assignments from when we were gone in Dec. They acknowledge he is current...but until I see those grades and Fort Lewis gives that final okay...nerves are high...:crazy2:

I know I have not posted my calories from yesterday but wil do so later and todays...

Yesterday I picked up Carsyn and she was in tears...she is missing a final today...had to meet with her principal about the situation...and he was an @ss...so we had a mtg today and I explained I would be happy to kick him in his man parts if he ever talked to her the way he acknowledged he did...

Carsyn is having a 3 hour pre-op exam and tests today regarding he bladder defect...she will be having an operation within the next few weeks and it is a 2 part deal...1st to put a temporary connection to a device called an interstem...it will be worn on the outside of her body but connected to her spine via electrodes implanted...

If it works...they will implant it in her buttock area 30 days later...

This is very stressfull for her, embarrassing and she is worried about everything involved let alone everyone knowing...

Her principal...when she explained she was trying to set up a time before or after to make it up...explained she was being irresponsible because finals were important...she said...this is important too...he said...well then you have 2 important things and I think the one that needs to be given priority is your final...(insert punching mother smiley please)

Now I had called and talked to the nurse regarding this, talked with her school counselor who I was told needed to know about the final from me...but the office told her that she needed to talk to her principal...

yes he had no clue the level of importance this has...but regardless...she was being responsible..teacher gone to DC and sub doesn't want to make a decesion...so he then needs to educate himself if he has no clue...

When we talked...he said...well I guess the final could be considered second important...and I said...yeah...a 3 hour appointment scheduled months in advance cannot be moved...he said - well I guess I will allow her to come in Friday morning then...I said good...cause otherwise me and 3 news channels would have been here today...

He was the towns revered football coach and ever since he retired his coaching position after a major screw up 2 years ago...is a principal...retiring next year...and I...will kick my own kids tukkusses if they screw up...but I will kick yours if you are being an insensitive @ss...

Ugh...

Anyway - off to her appointment...then have that free movie screening tonight of New In Town...so be back late...

Lyz - glad you and yours are having a better day!
Liz - I think I may already be over my calories and it is only noon....but I am tracking...writing everything down...
Nancy - glad you liked you body spanking by someone not your spouse! :rotfl2:
E - your a great mom simply because you noticed and appologized...many do not have the power to do that...and your advice the other day regarding a manipulative person...and how to react...was spot on BTW....::yes:: :flower3:Thanks so much as usual....

Kat - enjoy yourself and some down time...:upsidedow

All else...read and caught up...:wave2:

Heather! Glad you came and said hi! Please stay with us and laugh and loose some weight too!:cheer2: :grouphug: :flower3:

Just a quick check-in and then I will comment on all of the posts...

BUT. Back from my long run. 8.6 miles! The first 4 miles--total stonker. I had talked myself into stopping at 5 miles and calling it good. But then mile 4 to 5 was good.

And then, right at mile 5 something happened. Guess what came on my iPod? "Dude Looks Like a Lady." And this was the song that was on RnR when my "friend" came out with "Rock me, Steven." OMG, it brought back such an awesome memory that I kicked it into gear and did the full run that I had planned. And that mile was my best time as well!

Ok, more later.

Ok, lots to say! And I think I will say it all in the form of Goddess Crowns!

Lisa/PR--Goddess Crown for your incredible workouts! WOO HOO on rocking the challenge!

LisaV--Goddess Crown for posting through the crap! YES! It makes such a difference. You don't get too far down the crap road when you are still coming here. Easier to get back on track.

Kat--Goddess Crown for committing for February after you get back on vacation. And you KNOW that we are going to hold you to it, right? ;)

Liz--Goddess Crown for tracking it all. The good and the bad. You inspire me because even when you are off, you are off with a purpose, if that makes sense.

Lyz--Goddess Crown for being Sister of the Year. Word. Glad Allison is able to sleep. Makes such a huge difference in the healing process. Keep us posted.

Nancy--Goddess Crown for kick-a$$ workouts. Thanks so much for posting what you did. I am not working with a trainer right now, so I am going to "borrow" yours. :rotfl2: And A SECOND Goddess Crown for being Seth's mom! Great kid you got there. :goodvibes

Paula--Goddess Crown for being so great with your training! And you even love it! BONUS. And you have lost for like weeks and weeks in a row. And hit the 40 pound mark. Word.

Amy--Goddess Crown for looking for yet ANOTHER Half to sign up for! WOW!

Kelly--Goddess Crown for working your program and always being so positive! I love how you see the humor/joy in things.

Aimee--Goddess Crown for working it as well! I don't know if I have ever said this, but I am always amazed by single moms. Mom-ing is the most important job in the world and you seem to do it with grace even with not much support from the "donor" (love that!).

And ME--I am giving myself one for gutting out my long run today and for being spot ON for 5 days now. And it feels SO SO SO good.

Sorry if I am leaving anyone out right now. Gotta fly (cause I can't say "gotta run" since I already did that and I am TIRED).

WOO HOO! Welcome Heather! We love the newbies!

Lots to say, little time...just wanted to share something totally random with you.

This is how exciting my life is. ( I just know you will all be green with envy)

I have been conducting a test. A test of the capacity of the "swiffer duster". :lmao:

Yep. Those suckers can hold in a TON of crap. Really. I've dusted EVERYTHING. including the nasty blades on my ceiling fans...under/over/in EVERYTHING....all the wierd places that I normally ignore. Finally -I moved on to the dashboard in my car....and even the dashboard in my son's car (which stinks to high heaven by the way. That kid needs Fabreeze in a baaad way :crazy2: ). This Swiffer thing is going strong. Holdin' it all. I shook it (outside of course) and nothing fell off :confused3 I'm just stunned. and impressed. :lmao:

oy. Where's that nap. I think I'm delerious.

told you it was random....:confused3

Nancy - I got tired just reading your training session!

Im with you on that! I read it and had to have a little sit down after! :rotfl2:

I'm home today and guess who was on the View - The Duggars!!!:lmao:. I had no idea about the background to why they have so many kids. That they were on birth control after their first and she became pregnant while on the pill. Some kind of sperm or some kind of ovaries or both, eh? :lmao:

And they lost that baby because of the pill they said and that saddened them. So off BC and voila.

Voila indeed.

I really like the idea of helping people out by buying cookies. In fact, I think I could be a number one supporter if they had them over here!

Speaking of food I love, I LOVE Gnu bars. 50% of your daily fiber, 2pts WW, and SOOOOO Tasty. Go order the sampler online. You will never look back!

GNU bars?! That cracked me up! Simple things amuse simple minds I suppose! :rotfl:

Hi Ladies! First, let me thank you for your well wishes and prayers and just thinking of me.

My sisters surgery went well as you know. It was scheduled for 5 hours, and when we saw the dr before surgery he told us, when I open her up, if it's not going to work, I'll not endanger her. I'll close her back up. We went and had breakfast then sat in the waiting room. Two hours went by and the dr walked up to my sisters entourage. (me, sister Em, mom, dad, Ali's husband and their very good friends (husband and wife), we were a spectacle.) The dr walked up and I thought "uh-oh" - I just knew the surgery didn't go. But it went very well. I've not gone into details, as they are very personal, but this surgery, we've been waiting for her to get for quite a while. She was avoiding it, as today was her 39th surgery and really, she's just so over being knocked out and cut open. But we pushed it thru as her quality of life was so suffering. The dr, he is just so awesome. He is thoughtful and really took good care of her. In his reasearch on her surgery today, he talked to many collegues and alot of them advised him to not touch her. I'm so thankful he did. He was worried about what he'd find when he opend her up, after all that work, but it was just smooth. She's in alot of pain right now, but still in good spirits. Her incision is right on her stomach and it hurts to laugh, but my family, that's what we do. I literally needed to be gagged. Ok, I'll quit going on and on, I'm on a high.

Wow. 39 surgeries is an unbelievable amount for any person to take. Continued good thoughts for your sister, you and your family

Love Twinkies. Course I like most anything with cream.

Everyone brace yourselves - very silly comment coming up......I do not know what a Twinkie is. At all. Im off to google but if anyone could give me a quick run down that would be excellent. Im very wary of what I will find if I google 'Twinkie' :rotfl2:

I got a brand new feather duster on Tuesday. I texted my mum, DH and my Best Friend to tell them.
None of them want to talk to me anymore, they think im a weirdo! :lmao:

Everyone brace yourselves - very silly comment coming up......I do not know what a Twinkie is. At all. Im off to google but if anyone could give me a quick run down that would be excellent. Im very wary of what I will find if I google 'Twinkie' :rotfl2:

O.M.G. :lmao: I laughed...no chortled...guffawed! right out loud..REALLY loud. scared my cat :scared: Please. Do tell....what *did* you find when you googled "twinkie" :lmao: (I am laughing so hard I'm crying right now. That is the funniest thing....)

I got a brand new feather duster on Tuesday. I texted my mum, DH and my Best Friend to tell them.
None of them want to talk to me anymore, they think im a weirdo! :lmao:

I'll talk to you. I don't think it's at all wierd to be totally enamored with your cleaning products :rotfl:

I really should have taken a nap! But no time. Nearly fell asleep in the chair waiting for my son at the Orthodontist...

Hi Heather :wave2: Please. Don't be frightened by me....I don't always talk about such off the wall things....I'm just a bit....punchy .....today. ::yes::

Everyone should talk more about their cleaning products. My new duster has a handle that extends. Its fabulous.

What did I find when I googled Twinkie. Well, let me tell you:

Twinkie Dee Star - :clown: Clown Extraordinare. I hate clowns.
Naked man v Twinkie - I did NOT click on this website!
Twinkie Marcela - Erm..'adult' film star
50 ways to kill a twinkie - one of the ways is take it to a fat camp and see how long it lasts.
Eat your cake and wear it - a lovely range of Twinkie Scarves. Yes, scarves made from Twinkies.

Strangely enough, when I went on the actual Twinkie website im still none the wiser about what they actually are.
According to Peter Griffin Family Guy, they would survive a nuclear war. Which is nice.
:rotfl2:

I know I have not posted my calories from yesterday but wil do so later and todays...

I'll be waiting....

Yesterday I picked up Carsyn and she was in tears...she is missing a final today...had to meet with her principal about the situation...and he was an @ss....

huh. I find that to be surprising.:confused3 We've always had pretty good relationships with the schools - and when my kids had medical issues, they've been really accomodating...How much notice did the teacher have about rescheduling the exam? I know that it's hard to do - they have to get all their stuff graded and recorded for the 150 or more students that they see during the course of a day....and to have a whole slew of make-ups is really challenging (I have a SIL that is a High School teacher....God bless them ALL! :faint: )

But yeah - this appointment was a biggie....certainly would hope that they would be willing to work with you on this. And hope it all went well for Carsyn

This is very stressfull for her, embarrassing and she is worried about everything involved let alone everyone knowing...

I am SOOOO tired. And SOOOO punchy. It's a darned good thing I'm not allowed any wine tonight - 'cause I could just about guarantee the phrase "rock me" would spill out and then.....:faint:

:lmao: :lmao:

Ok, lots to say! And I think I will say it all in the form of Goddess Crowns!

:cool2: Had to pull out the shades - the sparkles from all those crowns were blinding me!

We're a pretty awesome bunch, are we not???:thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

my oh my. :rotfl:

Yeah - Twinkies have a shelf life of....oh...probably 20 years :scared: "Chemical Cakes"...that's what my kids call them. And sadly, I do believe that Peter Griffin is correct. :crazy2:

They are like a yellow, spongy cake...with a vanilla cream filling inside....I'd say "injected" in...like the jelly inside a doughnut would be.

Does that make any sense at all? :confused3

Just to prove that Americans will indeed eat just about anything...you can find "deep fried Twinkies" at fairs and such.

Kelly - Twinkie's are a golden cake filled with creme. They are the super processed food of childhood. You have similar things to them, but the names escape me now.

Nancy - sucks about the body fat. It would be cool to get it measured. Maybe I should have that done, huh?

Lyz - You're right. As a child, we call it bossy. As an adult, she'll term it "leadership skills" on her resume. Just like her mom!

Erika - thank you. I do track even when it's ugly. Bc it's the right thing to do, rather than throw my hand up and give up. More on this later.

Heather, welcome. I know you from somewhere. I recognize your screen name. Hmm. From TR boards, maybe?

Nancy, again - A cousin of Nick's did ROTC. She loved it. Holy Cross. I think it sounds amazing, and the scholarships are pretty special too. How wonderful to get your kid to that point.

Paula - Can I just write the GS a check? I don't even want to take delivery of the cookies!

Dawn - Now maybe this is just me, but I would never talk to a principal that way! Did you really threaten him or are you exaggerating? Maybe it's from being in Catholic school, but I was raised not to speak to anyone like that. And I have too many teachers in my life, and one very good friend who's an Assist Principal. I see what they have to deal with and what a hard job it is.

But maybe I'm confused. Are they upset over her missing an exam? Do they not give you the exam schedules like in August? Did they not know she had this appointment? I don't understand if it was cleared with the school why it would be such an issue.

Possibly I'm naive. I just see the educator's side a lot.

Me. I'm just not that into it. I have decided my final goal, though. And I'm changing my ticker to reflect it. I am not at this point ready to push through and get to 150, wear a size 8. I want to be 157, a low 10. I think an 80lb loss is pretty freaking good. And I'm going to be happy there.

Eww, cream 'injected' into them - I don't like the sound of that :lmao: I do know what you mean..I think!

They sound a little like Eclairs. They are cakey/pastry type of goodness filled with fresh cream
