In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

1. Flatter yourself. Women who see themselves as heavier than they are have a harder time maintaining weight loss after a yaer. Everytime you catch yourself saying something negative about your body today, write down a compliment and repeat it 10 times instead.
I would spend the whole day talking to myself...what would people think?:hyper2: :lmao:
2. Find a release valve. Stress can mess with the scale in 2 powerful ways. Tension and anxiety activate your body's fight or flight response raising levels of cortisol. At the same time, you seek out high-fat and high-calorie foods for their soothing effects on the brain. Rely on a strategy you can employ at any time to tame tension. Take a walk, breathe deeply, listen to your favorite song, call a pal, watch a zany YouTube clip or laught at a post on a funny blog instead of stewing and snacking.

3. Catch some shut-eye. People who get 5 or fewer hours of sleep per night are 55% more likely to be obese than those who log 89 straight according to a review of 45 studies published in the journal Sleep. Sleep deprivation may increase your output of hunger hormones, turn off your fullness hormones and bring on cravings for foods such as sugary carbs, whic perk you up.
Good idea...
4. Slow it down. It takes about 20 minutes for satiety signals to set in. Eat your meals in courses and keep the serving dishes in the kitchen or away from where you dine. (The bariatric center where I work instructs people to always eat your protein first--just another tip).

5. Lose the guilt. Eating is not an exercise in morality nor should it mark your success or failure. Let go of "good" and "bad" foods and separate eating from emotions. You'll be happier and healthier. Try not to judge your choices. Instead, pamper yourself wtih a movie or a manicure.
LIke this a lot...
6. Put bargains on ice. Cash may be tight but avoid trimming from the grocery budget. People who spend more on food tend to weigh less because nutrient-rich veggies, fruit and lean meat cost more then empty-calorie choices. To save cash and eat well, fill your freezer with healthy bargains. Stock up on frozen veggies and fruit, they cost less than fresh but pack as many nutrients.
It does stink that it is cheaper to eat garbage isn't it!
7. CELEBRATE. You did it. Congrats. your mission today, revel in what brings you joy. Have a fun night out, get tickets to a concert, or treat your new body to a spa day or beach vacation. You deserve a little reword for doing right by....you!!!

I hope these have been helpful to you. If you can pull just one little thing from them that works it will be worth all this typing!!! I know I have learned a lot. It said in the beginning that these changes weekly along with adding in strength and cardio every other day (alternating the two) you could drop 8 pounds in the 4 weeks. I have lost 4 so I call that a win!!! I hope some of you have benefitted too!!

My treat....I am going to the Rock N Roll Virginia Beach half marathon in September and besides my running clothes, I am packing 2 bikinis....yep traveling light!!!! :beach:
Love these Lisa - thanks...:cheer2:
I'm thinking of you guys. TLS just promoted -

A Very Duggar Wedding. :lmao:
I am sooo intrigued by this episode....wondering what advice he will be getting in the "bedroom department" because it sounds like Dad has never discussed sex with him at all from the promos...although it could be just the info on how to create a loving environment for the rest of your life in the bedroom as well...and if that is the case...I will have to say that more men need to be taught that by their parents than are because how many men have no clue what a woman wants/needs to feel sensual or desired vs wham bam thank you mam....

Hi Lisa,

Oh my gosh, my grandma had spices left from the good ole days when she passed.

Okay...I about gagged...:crazy2:

true fact...spices are only warantied by their manufacturer on the average of 6 months...no container you buy from the store is air tight and thus...air leads to bugs..stale herbs etc...

Also....your red spices have the most natural larva in them...and hatch the most bugs...so chili powder...cummin...red peppers etc...

Store your spices away from the heat source...not by the stove or in direct sunlight....keep in a dark, cool place...

Loads of printed material I have...you are talking to the kitchen guru for storage ya know...:wave2:

I will start posting my food again...I need you guys to hold me accountable for that...it helps when I know someone is looking for that post vs...oh well..did not post on spark people...who will know.....

I had a long reply yesterday and then my computer flickered and the whole thing was gone...so I am sorry but did not go back to redo everything...

Spent a lot of yesterday moving furniture and clearing out stuff...time to simplify my life...less clutter...less mess...if it is not in a holiday box...what am I storing it for?

Carsyn's room is all redone and my bedroom as well...will post pics soon...:)

Have a great day all....:wave2:

Jena - I wil:cheer2: l pm you regarding the plumber info! Thanks!

Lyz - hope your B-day night was spectacular...

Kelly, I love that you are watching this. I'm glued to the TV. And I am so thankful today that we have peaceful transfer of power. What a gift, and one we don't give thanks for much.

Today I am thankful for that.

And of course my eyes are filled with tears when I see and hear people who are so moved by the historic event of our 44th President that they are coming from near and far, bringing their children, their hopes, their dreams.

So, catch some if it. It's pretty cool.

Me, i'm not on. At all. I'm off. Have been. So there.

But glad Nancy and Erika are ON!

And Paula, weigh to go!!! WOO-HOO!!! 40 JC lbs!!!

Aimee, have a good day at work!

Lisa, the bizarre spice chicken was yum? Hmm. Maybe it was a new spice!

It came on tv at 2pm my time, so I actually made sure that I'd done all my chores and my exercise dvd before that time so I could sit down at watch it all!

Its very moving - the choirs are fantastic. I like to see the celebrities there (im nosy like that) and Ive been watching them pick people out from the crowd to ask where they've travelled from to be there. People have travelled so far to be there.

Dawn - :wave2:

It is moving, isn't it? I have Emily watching with me. I keep talking about Sasha and Malia and getting her engaged that way. I love seeing the school kids around the country watching from their classrooms, doing civics projects. There was a woman who came from San Francisco with her kids, spent three days exploring DC, and now they are here. What an amazing family trip for them.

I can imagine that watching it through a childs eyes would be fascinating! That is quite a trip, and one they will never forget.
I like to watch it because you learn so much - I know more now about past presidents and inaugurations than I ever did. Its very very interesting!

Erika- about the scales. There used to be one of those scales at my "old" gym (my favorite place in the world...until it closed  ). Anyway....the trainer always told us to take that number with a grain of salt. So much of that depends upon your hydration level....if you are dehydrated even a little it makes a difference. BUT. My whole philosophy is - it's just another tool you can use for monitoring purposes. It may not be "precisely accurate" but I think, used over time, could give you a good basis for comparison. The callipers are somewhat more reliable...but the most accurate way is the water immersion. I've never done that - don't know of anywhere around here that offers it. Don't think I care about accuracy THAT much :goodvibes

Also....your red spices have the most natural larva in them...and hatch the most bugs...so chili powder...cummin...red peppers etc...

OMG. There's some info I could have lived without :lmao:

Ok, Dawn. You asked for it. I have no trouble callin' you out!!!

:lmao:

And I am so thankful today that we have peaceful transfer of power. What a gift, and one we don't give thanks for much.

Today I am thankful for that.

I am thankful for that as well. We are some very lucky people when you really think about it.

Morning Ladies!

A CHILLY CHILLY day here in FL. Well, chilly for us anyhow. :rotfl:

Little D and I are watching the inauguration festivities on TV. Not that she has any clue as to what is going on, but I think it is important.

Also preparing to make strawberry jam this afternoon.

Paula, WTG on the weight loss!!

To everyone who is ON, you are my inspiration and motivation to get there. :goodvibes I am halfway there. Food has actually been fine for the last week, other than the strawberry shortcake I ate on Sunday. I am hoping to get back to my exercise this week. I am going to start with some pilates/core stuff today. I am also going to restart C25K again this week. It will be the 3rd time I have done it, and I find it's a good plan to keep me on track. I will probably add on some more repetitions of the intervals they recommend, since I'm not starting from zero this time. And a long run on the weekends of course.

Have a good day everyone!

Me, i'm not on. At all. I'm off. Have been. So there.

Me either Liz. I'm happy for those who are on, but I'm not even close. I'm not in a funk, I'm just not in taking care of myself mode. I think I need a break. Cause all I'm doing is beating myself up for not being on.

Paula, great job on the loss, woo hoo.

I have next to no time today. Seriously. My sister is having surgery tomorrow. With a week long hospital stay afterwards. Please pray for her and her doctor, today and tomorrow. I'd so much appreciate it.

And, because I have no time, a lady from church called me today wanting info about a trip, leaving on Feb 14! (Other people found out she was going and hadn't done any planning and told her she must call "Lyz" :lmao: ) They looked on the computer for the first time last night. I'm putting something together for them. The budget is high, so I should be able to find something.

OH - and I have 2 pairs of jeans I wear. Just found a worn out hole in the crotch of todays pair. Great.

Poor Hilary.

I am so not on either. I promise that I will get back on starting the day after I get back from WDW.

Sorry I haven't been around. Just totally in a funk. I think I am crawling my way out of it but I really do apologize for not posting more.

Today, my friends, is a SNOW DAY!!! :cheer2:

We don't get them often here. This is the first measurable snowfall in this area in like 3-4 years. Right now we have about 4-5" on the ground. And before you all laugh about why I am working from home, remember that we have NO plows and NO salt. My cul-de-sac is completely pristine, has not been touched.

For those that might be interested, here are pics:
http://s295.photobucket.com/albums/mm130/katcanes77/snow/

These are out my front door and my back patio door. Including the 9 mo old kitten going, what is THAT??

So, today I sit on the chaise lounge, don't go anywhere, and enjoy being safe and warm. :thumbsup2

Just checking in.

Watch out, Dawn...Nancy is on it! I'd be running scared if I were you! :lmao: I mean, I wouldn't want to throw down with Nancy! :scared: I'm just sayin'...

Kelly, I was thinking the same thing as Liz. That it is so cool that you are watching this and into it and everything.

Lyz, I got your back. I put my dad on it...cause he's like, connected, you know? :goodvibes

Paula! WOW! Goddess crown! You have posted a loss like...4 weeks in a row now? ON IT!

Kat--looks like good snowshoeing weather! :thumbsup2

Me--so far, so good. Tracking, water, at 500 calroies currently, and for exercise, 14 mile bike ride, 2 mile, run, and core.

Lyz - please keep us updated as you can about your sister...I know she is in good hands with all the research you and your family has done with her...but take care of yourself through this...you need the support and the care as well...it is as hard for those waiting and watching...and it is easy to self destruct food wise at the hospital...just try to make the best of choices...do not expect perfection...and do not hold yourself to an unrealistic accountability when life will be throwing at you curve balls...

I stink at rolling with the punches...but it is advice that at it's core...I need to expect from myself...and accept of myself....

I will be praying for all involved...you included..:grouphug:

Without a doubt. They have been added to my list :grouphug:

Paula! WOW! Goddess crown! You have posted a loss like...4 weeks in a row now? ON IT!

I know, right? Talk about someone who is ROCKIN' THEIR PLAN! :cool1:

don't be messin' with the chick under the stairs. She's kickin' some serious booty! :hyper:

Me--so far, so good. Tracking, water, at 500 calroies currently, and for exercise, 14 mile bike ride, 2 mile, run, and core.

Nice. And I'm tracking down fabric from all over the East Coast. The Joann's in Portland Maine apparently has what I need! :crazy2: Now just to GET it here!

Poor Hilary.

Of course we will pray for your sister, your family, and all the medical staff that comes in contact with her. :goodvibes

Make sure you eat and sleep and breathe, okay? And I know this is against everyone else's wisdom but maybe Kat's, but let me tell you, eat peanut butter cups if it gets you through the day. You have time to lose weight, exercise, etc etc. No one says it has to be this week.

Yes, word. Sorry I missed this post in the first place. Definitely thinking about you and your sister. :goodvibes

You might be surprised at this, but I agree with Liz (not that THAT is the surprising part!), but that if you need to give in, then give in. Like, this is important sh*t and you just have to get through it. Whatever it takes, you know? And we'll be here on the other side to help deal with it.

This cracked me up. Of course you agree with me! You've been there.

And yes, whatever, buy yourself the heart shaped candy. We'll be here on the other side. I'll be your buddy when you're ready.

Lyz: Prayers and good thoughts for your sister, you and your family :goodvibes

I did get in some ab and core stuff after lunch. :cool1: Will probably do a little more tonight while BL is on. Tomorrow it is TM time.

Also made my jam. From what I tested, it came out awesome, and all of my jars have properly sealed!! Still have a ton of berries left though.

Sorry to hear about your sisters surgery. I will keep them all, and you, in my thoughts :grouphug:

I am so not on either. I promise that I will get back on starting the day after I get back from WDW.

Sorry I haven't been around. Just totally in a funk. I think I am crawling my way out of it but I really do apologize for not posting more.

Kat - Ive been there! Enjoy WDW, take time for you :grouphug:

Kelly, I was thinking the same thing as Liz. That it is so cool that you are watching this and into it and everything.

I really enjoyed it! I thought the speech was very inspiring, and I love to see his kids having a good time, taking photographs etc. I learnt a lot watching it!

Oh, I mean to ask this the other day - what is snowshoeing?

Yep indeedy. I totally agree with you and Liz - Do what you need to get through things, even if it means falling off the wagon for a while. Speaking from experience here - some good chocolate and friends to pick you up afterwards can help so much! :grouphug:
