:rotfl2: Maybe she can't write a book....make millions!

Total, 750. Water, 64 oz. Exercise, none (unless you count yelling).

 (no comment needed ;) )

Let's see 1st - I have a plan! At least some January goals

Perfect way to start. :goodvibes

Nancy - One of my good friends raises goats too! They are WAY involved in the goat thing! (I have to admit sometimes it's a little scary! :scared:) They are rebelridgeboergoats (dot) com.

I'll check them out! Our website has been "under construction" for EVER.
:rolleyes1 it's sad, really

gotta get crap done today. ttyl

This is for you, Kelly....

MY BUMMOCKS HURTS :rotfl2:

I had a 7:00am appointment with the trainer at the gym....:headache: Serious muscle fatigue :rolleyes1 my, oh my.

Um, were you not the one telling me that the pain will subside... Congrats on the training session. It took me about a week to settle in to the point where the pain stopped being debilitating. Now, I still get a little sore, but more of a reminder type sore instead of a screaming, kill me now kind of sore.

Aside from the pain, did you like the session?

Good Morning Ladies!!

I'm here - and I'm semi caught-up! I have taken notes - I have matched pictures with names.

Paula - Maybe we are Twins - I'm really short - older than you - but who knows! Like the movie TWINS (w/DeVito and Arnold!)

Missy - Glad to hear that you are caught up. With the last few days flurry of postings, that is quite the accomplishment. How short is really short? I am only 5'-3, so we may not be that far off at all...

Amy - Breathe... the nerves will calm down and you are so going to rock this race. We will be there in your head to motivate you to keep going. If no one else has told you, we expect a full trip report (with pictures please) of the big day. So remember, think of us when you are running and we'll get you through.

Angry eyes are on today... contractors are just stupid. :headache:

Paula

SLOW DOWN PEOPLE~ JEEZE I can't WORK and KEEP UP!
I came up to just check in and there was 5 pages I wanted to paint my bathroom it;s looking funny three walls white and one dark wood paneling

Steph!!! It's so good to hear from you :goodvibes I was startin' to worry, ya know. You were totally MIA all day :confused3
I tried to comment but was distracted! Then it was to late and had to get ready for work!

Enjoy your snow. We are getting all ice. Freezing rain, actually. The trees are coated - it's at the point right now where if the sun came out it would look beautiful....but...too much more and limbs will start coming down ,etc. We just had an ice storm here 2 weeks before Christmas - and some people had no electricity for TWO WEEKS. It was such a mess of broken trees, etc. bringing down power lines. and now...here we go again :headache:

I so remember the ice storm of 99, I think it was a first Heck we had CNN camped out here in town because of all the damage! We lived without power for 2 weeks no phone for 21. I dread hearing a generator at all! Two week hearing that thing HUM! AAAHHHHHH! Just hearing it make me shiver! I either went to bed with FIFTY million layers or with nothing then either putting stuff on or taking it off! The generator controlled the heat with out the help of a thermostat so either you froze or felt like you were in a Sauna.

Totally envious.

So. What DO other people think of us? Will we be known for "The Great Milk Wars of 2009" or "Prohibition Era #2 - the No Soda Years" ??? :rotfl2:

I'm firin' up my soda-still....gonna make me some moonshine ;)
MMMMM have to have my COKE ZERO! Only one a day!

All I can say is WOW!!! You guys are AWESOME! I have been lurking - but I saw the call to come out - so I have!

I was going to read every page - then post when I got to the end - although I have made it to page 8 and couldn't wait to put my hand up and say :wave2: "I want to join too!!" I can't wait to read more and get to know you better.

#1 Name/Family - I'm Melissa - I turned 40 last March - my DH is Kevin and we have a DD who is 10 - Madison. We recently bought my childhood home from my parents and we ALL live there together! Which is fine for me and Madi - Kevin has his moments! We live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I'm a Construction Coordinator for a hospital - and am in the midst of the construction of a brand new hospital for our community. I work mostly by myself in a trailer on the jobsite, taking care of the paperwork and spending about $200 million dollars!! When I'm not at work - I love activities that allow Madi and me to do stuff together... shopping, going to the movies, playing games, etc. Kevin works most weekends - so Madi and I always find something to do. I also love to read and to scrapbook. Oh - and I LOVE DISNEY!! Our last trip was this past December and I've been trying to figure out exactly how soon I can go back!

#2 What you are the Most Proud of for the Year 2008 in terms of weight loss/excersize/healthy choices - My Dr. and I have been working on my weight issue - which lead to blood pressure issues for a couple of years. I see her on a monthly basis to check-in and see how things are... at my appointment in December - we "discovered" that I had lost 30 pounds since December 07! Really - I had no clue - I haven't bought a new wardrobe, wear basically the same clothes (except for the new ones that I can't pass up at CJ Banks clearance rack!!) So - the small gains, the small losses - for me over 12 months times equalled out to a net loss of 30 pounds. Which I am proud of - and just hope I don't "mess up"!

#3 What your goals are for 2009 in terms of healthy living - First - I want to MAINTAIN the loss I have - then of course add to it! I know excercise needs to be part of my life - and right now, it's not. I feel like I "may" have the way I eat on the way to being under control - but I need to MOVE!! So, December 2007 - I was 263# - December 2008 - 233# I'd like to see 199# sometime this year!

#4 What is needed from us to help you achieve those goals - Even in the first 8 pages that I read of this thread - the support you guys offer here is AMAZING! I feel that I could be staring at an Oreo - post my dilemma here - and could be talked down in a matter of minutes! (Okay - you get the idea!) I love the Sharing and Caring!

#5 A famous person you would love to have the body of...because each of us has a different body style and the realities that go along with it... You know - this hasn't been something I have thought of much! Hmm... I might have to think about this one. I could pick a famous person - but there aren't many that are 5'0 - and although I can get skinnier - I can't get taller!! Okay I've decided - I want to be a "mini-me"!

#6 A good food choice that you turn to to help ward off the munchies... This one is hard for me too! I drink water and chew gum. Although if I'm at home - I scrapbook as a hobby and I don't like mix food with my papers, etc. - so I will put off getting a snack until I'm done - then I really don't want it!

#7 Why are you here/joining us...what do you hope to gain...or what have you gained....(not weight if that's the case! ) - I found this thread through Dawn's PTR and TR! I feel as if I already know her and her family - her stories are hillarious - and she reminds me of me! She has RAVED about how wonderful you all are here - so I came over - intending to lurk - and couldn't help myself!

I can't wait to join in and hopefully offer you guys the same support and friendship you seem to so readily share with others!

Peace, Love and Mickey Mouse!

Melissa

:rolleyes1 it's sad, really

gotta get crap done today. ttyl

Nancy, I will do your website in exchange for soap. Really. Email me. I am not great at pretty design work but I can at least make it functional if you have content to put up there.

And Steph, I totally agree. Holy crap!

Kelly, so glad I found another Flack addict. Some folks on this board think I am totally nuts. :rolleyes1

There are a few moments in this season that are just... :lovestruc . Something to look forward to!

OK, I am... OFF TO THE GYM!!!!

I did like it. I'm doing a 2-person training w/a gym friend of mine. But my fanny is *painfully* aware of the fact that I haven't been doing squats lately  ahhh...good times.

SLOW DOWN PEOPLE~ JEEZE I can't WORK and KEEP UP!

so...quit your job :rotfl2:

Just kidding - the last few days here have been post-a-palooza! It's CRAZY!

I was the butt of all jokes last night because I was going to go get some MTN. DEW from the Pepsi guy!

Have to admit, it's funny. :goodvibes

Stephen is Stefan! It's actually Stephens ( his mother thought it would be cool with an S why I havn't a F'n CLUE)

wait. What? Stephens? review: It's spelled "Stephens" but pronounced "Stefans" but goes just by "Steph" -as in "Stef"? ...yes?

I am not great at pretty design work but I can at least make it functional if you have content to put up there.

ah. Now there-in would lie the problem  I keep hearing "well, I'd put the stuff UP there if you'd give me the CONTENT":rolleyes1 Shoulda made THAT my New Years Resolution.

Actually - I'll put it on my list of things to do....

OMG. KAT just finished a RUN!!!

She texted me! WOO HOO!

Who is next in line for the kool-aid?

HA!

I was sort of curious as to where my fitness level was. I am nowhere near at half-level but I could definitely do a 5K, I think.

So, I did 20 min on the elliptical, then 15 on the dreadmill. Managed about 1.02 miles in the 15 min.

A fast walk at speed level 4.0 is not uncomfortable from a cardio perspective. Like, I could totally carry on a conversation and probably keep up that pace for at least 30-45 min (if I had the time which I did NOT today). At 4.2-4.5 I need to jog to keep up, and I can last about a minute there, and probably did at least 3-4 min in 1 min intervals at that pace.

When I got off I felt a bit lightheaded but not too bad. After 25 crunches on the ball and some stretching I felt fine.

Where does that put me as to a fitness level? Keep in mind that the only exercise I have had since about Dec 10th was 1hr of hockey, and that was on Monday.

Oh, and I faced the scale this morning. Not as bad as I thought it would be, only about 10 lbs up from the last time I checked it before the Dec trip. I have about 35 to lose to get to my final goal, 25 to get to where I was in July, and am right about at the point I was at the beginning of Nov.

Angry eyes are on today... contractors are just stupid. :headache:

Paula

I hear you. Workmen are the bane of my life at the minute. I just have to keep laughing!

I Love Coke Zero! I can't taste the difference either. Now Pepsi Max instead of regular Pepsi - not good. Makes me burp :rotfl: And burping is no good for a lady like me! :rotfl:

I can't wait for the season to start, thank heavens its on Saturday! (Yes, I have no life!)

 Woohoo! Thats some great work!

I read up on the couch to 5k and it 'seems' like something I could do. Putting it into practice is another thing though!

Now, as I said before I am no runner. Im barely even a walker! On average, how long would you say it would take to run 5K. I know it will be different for everyone, but just a guesstimate would be great.

The Race for Life is 3K, so it will give me a rough idea of what to aim for. Then I'll kick its bummocks and do better! :lmao:

Woohoo Kat!!! Congrats girl. For someone who has done no exercise except hockey, I would consider that exceptional. As for the lightheadedness, it may have something to do with food or water intake. If you had said you were breathing hard, I would attribute it to that. On the whole you should give yourself a :cheer2: . Oh wait, I will do it....:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Kelly (I think that's right but I am without my cheat sheet), there is no average for a 5K. I run them and I am slow compared to most who are competing and I run. I run distance though and I have a hard time making myself run fast. I know that sounds funny but it is true. If you are walking and there is no time limit, there is no time limit. If you are running, still no time limit. You need to determine your PR (personal record) and then move on from there. We are all different and you should not compare yourself to someone else. Your uniqueness is what makes you beautiful!!!!!

Okay, for the challenge, I skied 6 miles today making up my mile deficit from yesterday. My total for the week is 25.35 miles. I worked out with abs and or weights/yoga 4 days this week. I feel I also maintained my scale sanity even though I cheated but it was only once. I will weigh in tomorrow morning. So far, yay me....now for that stinkin scale.....:scared:

Kat: WTG on the run! Your speed sounds like a good place to start. I was way slower than that when I started. I usually walk at 4-4.3 and run above that.

LisaPR: Thanks for your thoughts! :goodvibes DD and I will hit the expo tomorrow and we will be going to the POP meet! I am also meeting up with a group of people from my charity 1/2 marathon team. I did a 1/2 in november, so I figured I would not feel this nervous!!

Nancy: Fan fic are stories people (fans) make up using characters from well known books. I'll give you one guess as to which series we're reading fan fic about. :rolleyes1

afternoon everyone...

I have to admit..I was tired this morning...and I took a nap...for about an hour and a half...I have no clue why I am so tired lately either Lyz...but I did join sparkpeople and love the easy ways to track...I have plenty of room for a piece of pizza or 2 tonight but will probably go over my fat intake...and I have had no milk either...just need to move some stuff around...and pay attention to that as well...but the calorie concept I have down...I think it just comes to planning the day out for food...which means I need to hit the grocery store...

Baylor is getting Rock Band special edition for his B-day...it includes the guitar, drum set and microphone...now all I need is construction headphones...so I will not be driven crazy all night and day...
:lmao:

I was down to 243 as of this morning..but I will wait for official weigh in tom...and truthfully...that helps huge staying foccussed...do not wantto have the scale urp up and sputter when step on...:rotfl2:

Okay - off to get some cleaning done...

Amy - I will wish you luck on the race in terms of a good time that you want...because you do not need luck to finish...I believe in you...:cutie:

Ooh Im on the 2nd part of the Grey's Anatomy season finale (again, behind you guys - I hate being slow! :rotfl: )

The best part of this useless piece of information I shared - I spent the first hour on the cross trainer :cool1:
Yep indeedy, one hour workout with McDreamy and McSteamy :lovestruc

Thought I'd sneak in a little extra work before weigh in tomorrow!

Also, for the past two days Ive drank 8 glasses of water...before Lunch! I have found the thirst and I like it! Who knew water would be so easy to drink :confused3 (I fully expect this to wear off in a day or two and I'll be back to choking it down!)

I was sort of curious as to where my fitness level was. I am nowhere near at half-level but I could definitely do a 5K, I think.

Good job on the run, Kat! :yay: As far as "fitness level"...that's hard to say - because everyone runs at a different pace. You did 45 minutes of cardio? I'd say, in terms of "where am I in the realm of a 5k"....as far as "sustained cardio" I'd bet just fine and dandy. You probably need some more "practice" time with running though. ...like anything else - it gets somewhat easier once your body gets over the shock of "WTH are you doing to me" Definitely won't be long before you are able to run those 3 miles right in a row! :goodvibes

Kelly (I think that's right but I am without my cheat sheet), there is no average for a 5K. I run them and I am slow compared to most who are competing and I run. I run distance though and I have a hard time making myself run fast.

Ok. This is how I look at it. My husband and son...they are like thorough bred horses...they run like the wind. ME? I'm a Clydesdale. It's slow, and not real pretty...but I get the work done.;)

Nancy: Fan fic are stories people (fans) makr up using characters from well known books. I'll give you one guess as to which series we're reading fan fic about. :rolleyes1

Gotcha. Thanks.

:lmao:

ah yes. Earplugs should come standard with that...

Nice job! :thumbsup2 See - you found an exercise that "works" for you, and you did it! :woohoo: And with McDreamy no less

Re: 5k times- In the 5K that I ran this fall that was my best time ever (33:45 I think) I finished way in the back. Now, I averaged 10:45 miles, which for me is super fast, but there were so many speed demons that finished in under 20. :scared1: :scared1:

Thanks for all of your good thoughts about the 1/2.:goodvibes I am feeling better now. I haven't eaten too much all day though ( I did just have some plain pasta), but I have stayed hydrated and my stomach seems to have settled down (with the help of some diet ginger ale :rolleyes1 ). And of course you can expect a HUGE report when I get back. With lots of pictures.

5k's seem to be notoriously fast. It is a distance that a lot of recreational runners just love. So you find some pretty impressive times, even in small towns and teeny little races.

Me? I won't do a 5k unless they allow walkers. I figure that way I will LOOK like I am in the middle of the pack, when I am more likely closer to the back of the pack. :lmao:

My 5k PR time is at a 10:05 pace. Which, like Amy, I consider super fast for me, but pretty slow by race standards. My Half pace is 10:45 - 11:00, much slower than the 5k pace. I am going to do another 5k fairly soon because I am pretty sure I can PR it. I have had some great negative splits recently, so who knows? My first 5k goals is to do it in under 30 minutes, so I need to run at least a 9:55 pace, if not a bit faster. My ultimate goal, though, will be to do a 5k in 9 minute miles or less. And yes, 9 minute miles are STILL considered to be on the slow side...but at least approaching average (like the slow side of average). So I have work to do, for sure. (Yesterday, though, I ran my last half mile at an 8:30 pace, which is great for me. Darn near killed me, cause it was at the end of a 4.5-miler, but still, it was good to know I had it in me.)

Tip o' the Day (you thought I forgot, didn't you?)--JEANS! Yes, get out your jeans and put them on! Jeans don't lie, girls. They tell it like it is!

You all know that I work from home. So I don't need to get dressed for work or anything. And I don't like the idea of creating extra laundry, so often times when I get up in the morning, I just put on my workout clothes and wear those until it is time for my run/the gym. And sometimes (like today), that doesn't happen till like 2pm.

So, what's the problem? Um, well, when you wear elastic-waist pants all the time, you can SO easily gain 10 pounds and not "feel" it in your clothes. But if you are wearing jeans, you will feel that snugness much sooner...a couple of pounds and you will notice it and thus be able to stop before it gets to 10 pounds or worse.

This tip is definitely one for ME. I have to start getting regular clothes on. For those keeping track....the 4s are super skin tight and not wearable currently. I am still in 6s, but they are not nearly as loose as they were. So, hopefully by the end of the January challenge, I will have those feeling loose again.

Thanks for the feedback! :goodvibes

Oh, I know there is no way I could run a 5K and not be totally wiped right now. I mean, I have had like 2 hours of exercise in the last month, including today!!

My short term exercise goals are to fit in 2-3 for the 3 weeks including this week. Hockey Monday, cardio today, and perhaps some cardio on Saturday.

Next week, hockey Monday. Not sure what else. I might feel brave enough to get killed by Tues lunch kickboxing, but that might be reserved for the following week!

After WDW, I want to work toward a hockey monday, kickboxing tues/thurs, weights/light cardio Wed/Sat routine, taking Fri and Sun off.

I am so flipping angry right now....shaking so angry...someone broke into Chad's car at a local drug store and stole Baylor's present out of it.
