In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Ugh! I don't have an exact number (remember that I feared the scale for so long).

And by the way, the microphone noise that they tooled on me for this week was from Kelly on my lap! Sheesh! There is no pleasing some people! :rotfl2:

Hi all- so is there anyway to retrieve my lost attemted post. Yes I'm dwelling on it. DD teachers husband retrieved everything from our dead computer, so could he get yesterdays lost item? from this brand new computer?

Steph- Snow!!! WA has it in the passes. Mt. Ranier is beautiful with a new dusting. Oh I'm so envious you had snow.

:flower3:
UUHHHGGG I have lost so many post I finally said forget it it wasn't as funny as the first two times I wrote it.
Mt. Ranier is so beautiful my mom took pictures when she was out in Seattle two years ago! She had pics from the plane and from my uncle house it is very beautiful out there lucky girl! So where in WA do you live?

Steph--yes, we have had snow already as well. Like you, nothing that stuck, but still snow coming down. As for the fire...in Maine, we would call you a cheater! :rotfl2: So, in Maine it is like a contest or badge of honor to see how long you can go without turning on your heat or using your woodstove, etc. We don't use any type of heat until Nov. 15th. And it has been SO cold here the past couple of days. 32* each morning since Sunday. So the house gets to about 60*--which is a great temp when you are outside, but down right blustery in your living room. But we figure that if we make it to our vacation (in 6 days), then it will be Nov. 6th when we get back and we can turn on the heat then if we need it. If it isn't too cold, though, we will hold off until the 15th. And I HATE being cold. Just hate it. I am bundled up like Nanook of the North. And by the way, your body burns significantly more calories when cold. That is why I put up with it. ;)
UMM yes total cheater! I hate being cold! HATE IT! I am such a summer person I love the heat, the warmth, the sun! I actually lay on the floor in front of the wood stove. I am not actually liking the stove due to the fact that I have now burned myself TWICE! Trying to load the stupid thing! I have a burn on my hand and the inside of my fore arm. Thank god not bad ones but just bad enough that they sting! I guess I am a total wuss because 60 is just way to cold fine for outside but not inside! Although my bedroom doesn't heat so it is kinda cold in there and I freeze after steph leaves for work at three am so I may buy a heated mattress pad but the wool blanket is doing a good job as long as I stay covered.
:faint: Hot Dogs? ....I think I just had a stroke...;)
mmm love me some hot dogs red skins are the best! Sorry Nancy!

No snow here yet...although they said we may get a few flakes...
We have flakes around all year here !!! :lmao: :: :rotfl2: My new neighbors are some I think!

:cloud9: Sleeping in...I've forgotten what that is...
Yeah what's that I am up at 7 am no matter what day it is! I think the only day I have slept in this year is the day that I worked all night and I got home at 530 and went to bed and I still got up at 11 am.

We (or more accurately I...:rolleyes1 ) turned our heat on over the weekend. I work in a kitchen. It's HOT in there. I come home, and it's like walking into a refrigerator! I just had to take the "edge" off. We don't keep it overly warm - 65* downstairs, 62* upstairs - and at night our thermostats automatically flip down to 60*....

A couple of years ago (I think this is our 3rd winter?) we put in a wood furnace in our basement. Not a wood stove, but a furnace...not one of those "out-building" ones that look like a shed...but this fabulous double-burn system in our basement. Heats our house & domestic hot water. We haven't used a drop of oil in over 2 years :yay: And even in the dead of winter we only have to feed the fire at most 4 times a day. In the summer, when it's only used for domestic hot water...DH builds one fire every 4-5 days. I thought I was going to hate this system....just let him get it because he was so darned set on it....but I quickly changed my mind when oil prices went thru the roof! :thumbsup2

DS is waiting for me - wants me to play Guitar Hero with him... :cheer2:
YIKES 65 downstairs! I have mine at 68 and I think that will be to cold for this winter ! Upstairs I have it for 65! Only because of the kids! They don't know how to stay under BLANKETS! and insist on sleeping in their underwear ( well the boys Sam sleeps in sweats and sweatshirts)

Ok, so the chocolate pants story...since so many of you want to hear it.

Monday is jumbotron day at work. And this week I also had a banquet to attend (and speak at) at the end of the evening. So I got dressed nicely (as opposed to how I normally dress for work) and went up to campus. I even had matching jewelry and stuff which is something I never do.

On the drive up to campus, I had my lunch in the car. A chocolate fiber one bar and an apple. (Yes, this is a fairly normal lunch for me.) Anyway, apparently some of the little chocolate chips from the bar fell into my lap/on the seat while I was driving. I had to stop for gas, so got out and filled my tank. (At $2.70, by the way.) Jumped back in the car and continued to campus.

Got to my office and as I was getting out of the car, noticed a chocolate spot on the leg of my stone-colored pants. Not too big of a deal, I think. I can go into the bathroom in my office and spot clean that right out.

Up to the bathroom I run, and I decide I would take my pants off to try and get the chocolate spot off. Once I get them off, I see the a$$ of my pants. Huge chocolate smears! OMG! When I got back in the car after pumping the gas, I must have sat on some of the chocolate chips that fell off the bar. There was chocolate everywhere! Honestly, I don't know how a couple of tiny chips could do that much damage.

At this point, my cell rings. It is Liz. I tell her the whole story. She thinks it is hi lar ious and proceeds to laugh until she cried. Good fried, right? So I decide to use paper towels and wet them and try and scrub all of the chocolate off the pants. I have the jumbotron class starting in 2 minutes by the way. And I am half naked in my office bathroom.

Good news. The water is working! The choc. is coming right out! YES! Meanwhile, Liz is like..."don't you have like a cardigan or something in your office that you can just tie around your waist? I mean, you are a professor. You should have a cardigan..." This is the help I am getting.

Ok, spots are basically out or very light, so I can put my pants back on. UGH! There are HUGE wet spots everywhere! And the really wet spots are see-through. So, I am standing on the toilet seat turned around so that I can see my a$$ in the mirror (just the little kind that is above the sink, so that is why I am standing on the john) with the cell phone stuck between my ear and shoulder and looking at my wet see-through ***. Freaking out at Liz who just thinks it is wildly funny.

Class has started at this point, by the way. I am already late.

The only things I have with me are my briefcase and my gym bag. No choice. I strip, put on my track pants and running sneaks (over my black dress socks), running shirt, and bolt to class. 15 minutes late. I put on my head-set mic and apologize for being late, explaining that I had a "wardrobe malfunction." Thankfully, they laughed. I lectured the whole time...on the jumbotron...in workout clothes.

Ok, so once class is over I have 2 hours until the banquet starts. I head to my car where my pants are spread out in the back seat with sun coming in the window (thank God it was a sunny day). They were damp, but no longer see-through. So back to my office I go. Change back into my banquet outfit, and finish the night without further incident.

Next up...wind sprints at the bus stop.
:lmao: :lmao: thanks for sharing FINALLY!

Paula, a Carharrt? Oh, honey, can't you buy a very warm but cute coat? You are so cute! With your shoes and your clothes! I know there is a very cute coat out there for you that is arctic warm. Lands End? Bean?
Stephen has about 5 carharrt I totally agree with liz not stylish! That coat is made for men (sorry Lyz) There has to be something stylish yet warm! When you find one let me know!:lmao:

Steph, where are the pics of your new house? I feel like we have been waiting for AGES. What are you doing, unpacking or something? :lmao:
HMMMM unpacking ! OMG YES! I hated packing! I am hating UNPACKING more! This house maybe BIGGER ( I think) But The rooms are smaller and there is NO closet space (older house I should have known) One my house is in order and looks like it could go into Better homes and Gardens I will post pics. THAT MAY BE NEVER! I did manage to clear one side of the front porch off, but that stuff is now moved into other rooms!:scared1: So Now I have to put that stuff away! Then I can start either re wallpapering or painting! I will post some of the gross wallpaper that was here and I need to get rid of!!

I went into the city today to see Nick and get ripped. You know what I mean. I love waxing. LOVE waxing. Ok, so I adore this particular waxer, right? So I am talking about my weight loss and everyone else has been all "you are done, right?" and this woman is like "you have a little more to lose, right?" in her Russian accent and all and it just CRACKED me up! Because who is going to be more honest than the woman who sees it all? :lmao: God Bless her and her quick, nearly painless skills.
OOOOUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHH, not into self inflicted pain yeah yeah I know someone else is doing it but ...........NOT
Oh, went to WW and weighed in. Up 3.2lbs. I totally sabotaged myself this past weekend, and it's all because I have no idea what I look like, or how to be thin girl, and that is ending now. I am scared to be a thin girl, because I have been the biggest one of all my friends, etc, all my life. But I am a thin girl now, I live it and love it and I have to OWN it. So suggestions are welcome. I know it's all in my head, and knowing that really is half the battle.
AHHH you have lost that in a week before and you can totally do it again.!

As I was before...

OMFG! YOU LOOK FAB U LOUS~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU ARE MY INSPIRATION! TRUELY!!!

Steph - I hate the cold, too. HATE it. And thank you! :goodvibes

Erika - OMG, they are rough! i would never send in a voicemail to them! And are you going to tell them that was your kid in the background? ooooh but a number! Whee! Hmm. What is your lucky number?

But you have to realize that with these guys, getting picked on is the highest form of flattery!

And now I get a prize for being picked on! How cool is that?!

Ok--number choices--

5 - there are 5 in my family
27 - my birthday is on the 27th
39 - what I will be turning on said birthday. And I am really trying to embrace it and be ok with it.

Other thoughts?

WOO HOO! I am picking a number!!! (Lyz gets this!)

Ok guys....I need to pick a number between 1 and 50 for a Disney Prize! Prizes range from a $25 Disney Gift Card all the way up to a 4-night cruise and all-paid trip to Disneyland. I will definitely win a prize...just not sure what size. So give me your number choices!

13 is my lucky number...

And SEE??? Now they KNOW me. This is from Kevin on the podcast board....

ok....I gotta tell you....

You tickled us beyond what you heard on air.

We had to stop twice to contain the giggles.

You're a good sport to let us have a laugh at your expense.

Pick an awesome number!!!!!!

And last weekend, October 2008...

2963038275_4a53747233.jpg

You look great! I love seeing pictures like this, they keep me motivated!
:goodvibes

Paula Thanks for the recipe! I may make them this afternoon. I think I have all the ingredients.

StephanieSnow??? Ugh. I am worried about being cold in disney this weekend, when it may get into the 50's at night!!:lmao: :lmao: I'll be breaking out the fleece!!

Heatherhi!

Everyone, :grouphug: !

It's weird, since I am no longer working, I have WAY less time to get on the computer. :confused3 DD also loves to slam the laptop shut. She could be happily playing independently, so I'll go and try to check my email. She'll stop what's she's doing, come over and slam the laptop closed and go back to playing.

Eating has been crappy this week. I find I end up missing lunch since I am busy with DD, and then I snack alot mid afternoon and that ruins dinner. I am hoping that after WDW this weekend, I can get on a better routine.

I ended up making no ADR's. DD won't sit still for 2 seconds in the restaurant. It is just not worth it.

No weight loss this week. I've "lost" 3/6 bloat pounds that started over the weekend though so that's good. Hopefully I can zero myself by tomorrow.

I guess I will try and post this before it gets eaten by the DIS.

We have flakes around all year here !!! :lmao: :: :rotfl2: My new neighbors are some I think!

:rotfl: Good one.

OOOOUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHH, not into self inflicted pain yeah yeah I know someone else is doing it but ...........NOT

True that!

It IS true, when not working, have less time. It's crazy! The story about your daughter, adorable. Little ornery one.

OMG, Amy, totally! Way less time to do computer stuff, run errands, etc. I have found the same thing. Don't worry, you adjust. ;)

Lyz, I have no idea what Em is looking at. Always looking ahead, that one.

So a totally disappointing thing today. The friend who took those pictures TOTALLY doesn't get it. She doesn't know why I'd want to see the old one and new one side by side...why I need it at all. And I know she was being supportive, but it's like, hey - you don't know what I need. You have NEVER struggled with weight. You do not have an inner fat girl. You are skinny girl forever! And good for you - but I'm not. You do not even get that it's a head game.

It just makes me feel so sad that she doesn't get it.

Sept-You are slim and trim and beautiful as always. Liz, I understand that you are sad that your friend does not get it- she really should and maybe she's does and is hiding it. We get it. I am so proud of you!

E- We pick numbers the same way and my B-day is the 27th. The ?flaille fabric suits from Lands controls the belly.

Steph- Hi! I live in Port Orchard. We live on the Penninsula and Seattle is across the sound from us. Our downtown sits across the water from Bremerton Naval Shipyard. It is something else when a carrier comes home. To drive to Seattle we head to Tacoma and cross the Narrows (they built a second bridge) Bridge and then take I-5. There is a ferry from Port Orchard (stops at Vashon Island) and from Bremerton as well.

You can make pledges for Deb Wills avon cancer walk for 2009.

Finish out the week strong. :cheer2:

Heather :flower3:

OK – to all of you who are worried that I won’t look cute in a Carharrt jacket, I hear you…. This is a coat for work and work only…. (It is durable, and won’t tear if I brush against the scaffolding, rebar, grease, etc that I get to deal with while I am at work)

I own a few wool coats that are appropriate for going out in that will be designated as my weekend coats and I am not opposed to throwing one in the back of my car to change into if I am heading somewhere after work (I do that with shoes all the time). On a side note, I am looking forward to wearing my belted wool pea coat again. I had started to outgrow it, but couldn’t bear to give it up (one of those classic designs that is timeless and all) so I am going to pull it out this weekend and try it on. It should fit now and hopefully, won’t be too big…

Wish me luck shopping…. Aside from finding a coat that looks cute on me, I am hoping that they are not all way too long on me given my challenge in the height department….

Paula

Oh – did I mention that I am officially down two jean sizes now…. I just bought a few new pairs of jeans (same style that I usually wear) and they are two full sizes smaller than what I used to wear…. I am psyched….

Liz -

I am writing this as a separate post since you deserve it...

Your transformation is simply amazing.... I know I have said it before, but it is worth repeating.... it is simply amazing...

I have read of the struggles that some people having transforming their minds to match their new bodies. I can only relate in that instinctively I reach for the same old sizes, styles, colors, etc. when shopping because in my head, I am still that person. My mind simply hasn't caught up to the person that I am now. In time, I know I will get there, and I believe that you will too.

Talk to the folks at your WW center and see what they have to say and offer. I'm am sure that just as there were tips and tricks for dealing with our food choices, there are tips and tricks for dealing with the mental images you are working so hard to change. I'll check out the info that is available on the JC site to see if anything is of help. I guess at the end of the day, this is another battle with yourself that you will fight and win... You are such a strong woman that I can't imagine you losing this battle. Stay strong, stay true to yourself and you will get there....

I (and I think the rest of the gang on this board) have faith in you. You can do this!!!!

Hugs....
Paula

And yes. I am green. I am still squeezing into the same size.

You ladies sure have been busy here today! :goodvibes

Liz - yes, I did join Planet Fitness despite their horrific color scheme. It is butt-ugly I tell you! It's okay - definitely nothing fancy that's for sure! But it's close and I can actually get there and have a decent amount of time to work out before I have to leave for work. Plus there are some of my "gym friends" from the former gym who have joined as well. More like same family, different house... :goodvibes

Yeah, we are a Carhartt family as well...coats, insulated overalls (now THERE'S attractive! )...but for the "farm" work we need functionality and durability (and WASHABILITY!)

....and yes...we have "good" clothes as well...

I was going to tell ya'll something - :confused3 But for the life of me I can't remember what it IS! :headache:

bah.

eh - gotta go figure out dinner - I have a meeting tonight, so we need to eat by 6:00....ack. I cook all day...I really don't feel like making dinner yet....<sigh> OH - and DS has "informed" me that a bunch of his friends are coming to hang out tomorrow night. mmm...ok...but wait! There's more....I get to make them DINNER! WHAT? They are 17 year old boys....They eat like HORSES! :rotfl: They like our house because I make them "real" food....they've requested this ridiculously easy pasta/garlic/broccoli/chicken dish...<sigh>...yes, Lyz, I'll try to figure out what the "recipe" is for you....it was originally from some "heart health" cookbook that my sister read....
