Does anyone know of a lightweight, sit-n-stand stroller? I've found a couple models, but they're not at all lightweight.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
Beth

Is anyone familiar with BabyTrend's Swan compact sit-n-stand stroller? I'm wondering how compact is really is.

Thanks!

Beth,
I've been reading on Mycoupons that Target has the Peg Perego stroller (that has a place for a child to stand) on clearance for like $49. It was over $100. I don't know anything about it. I'm looking for a stroller, too, but I live like an hour from the nearest Target! Bummer! HTH.
:)

That shelf is not like the one on the S&S; it is really only meant for things like a quick dash across a busy street, because it is only about half as deep as a child's foot. A friend of mine tried to have her oldest ride on the back, but had a problem because the child kept getting cramps in her feet from standing on her tiptoes for long periods.

The best answer is to get something like a buggy board or Seat-2-Go attachment; they hook onto the back of your regular stroller like a skateboard, allowing the older child to stand.
The Seat-2-Go also allows the older child to sit facing backward. These are about $70 in most stores that sell them, but there are a couple of sites on the Web selling them for about half that. I posted some sale sites a while back, search for 'buggy board' and you will probably find the post.

We have the Peg Perego with the jump stand on the back and my girls love it. It is rated for up to 150lbs combined so it holds plenty of child. My girls were 2&4 when we started using it and it has been on six trips of a week or longer to WDW. Only during an e night did we rent a stroller for our then 5yo because she was tired of standing. If you think your oldest child is ready for mostly walking with you and standing occasionally for a ride on the stroller then this could be ideal. We like that it folds to umbrella size, has a great net basket and has shocks on the wheels making it really easy to push even with 2 riding. Ours even has a great carry handle that makes it easy to carry on & off the bus. I do one vacation solo each year with both girls and probably wouldn't have managed with any other type of stroller. Just another opinion!
Enjoy

I've looked at two, the baby trend and one by century. The century one seems nicer to me; it looks just like a 'regular' stroller, reclines, canopy, basket, snack tray for baby, and one for parents on handlbar that's removable. It has a seat/footrest at the back of the basket for the older child, you just remove the snack tray so they can stand ( it also has seatbelt for older child).
The one I saw by baby trend looked like a giant frame to me. It had a baby seat up front, and a seat/footrest for sitting/standing in back. It did have a basket, but no snack trays, and I don't think there were canopys.
A friend and I are both expecting our second babies, and went looking at these. She had the people at BabiesRUs test both to see if they fit in her trunk, and they did (she has a Cavalier, so you have an idea of trunk space). She also checked and the baby trend model will accept the carseat carries from any brand if you want to snap that on to the stroller in the seat area.
Both were about $150, and were both at BRU. The biggest drawback I saw (on both) was that if you had the younger childs seat reclined, then the older child couldn't ride or stand - it blocks that area.
The main reason I preferred the century model was that the main seat seemed more comfortable, more the single stroller I have. The one on the baby trend seemed more chair like and less padded. Of course, my friend thought the baby trend was much nicer, so she got that one, so I guess you just have to look and compare.
I haven't purchased one yet, I want to still look some more, so I haven't really "test driven" them outside of the store. If you check, I think Consumer Reports did an article on double strollers a few months back that did include some sit and stand models.
HTH!

I have the "Take 2" by Century and it's really nice. However, it's pretty heavy. My DH and I call it the "tank" since it seems so big. I know all the other guests are going to LOVE us hauling that big thing on the bus. Oh, well. I got it at Wal-Mart about 6 mo. ago on clearance for $125. It was a little pricey since this version was considered a travel system with a detachable infant car seat.

Don't get the actual sit and stand stroller (one is brand named this). I had one and hated it so much that I gave it away for nothing after a couple of months. Here's why:

Really heavy.
Could never even figure out how to fold it for storage.
Toddler could not sit, only stand, when infant was in reclined position.
Infant was extremely uncomfortable in the recline position and didn't like the way his car seat was positioned with car seat attachment either.

I have had a Peg Perego Pliko and the Martinelli (Perego's other line) version of the same stroller. Granted the platform isn't large, but it is very light weight and my daughter who is big has never complained about being uncomfortable on the platform the way she did on the sit and stand. It's worth it to check it out especially if you can find one like a previous poster mentioned for under $100. (I suspect she is referring to the Pliko in her post). The Pliko that I bought several years ago was nearly $200 and the Martinelli was over $200. I do a lot of walking so I needed a good stroller and it was worth the investment. If you can truly get one for $49 I'd say go for it.

As usual, everyone is so helpful!!! Thanks for the great comments.

I think I'm going to look into getting the Seat-2-Go. I looked at the Sit-n-stand stroller and it is twice as heavy as the Graco MetroLite single stroller. I think I'd rather have it weigh less and attach the seat-2-go when we need it. Does it fold up for storage? (I'm thinking that we'll have to take it off to get on and off of the WDW buses.)

One more question - does it make it hard to walk/push the stroller because it sticks out in the back? I can't really tell from the pictures I've seen.

Thanks again!
Beth
