In-room party questions...

I'm staying at AKL (I'm actually a DVC member there) for a week in June to celebrate my 50th birthday - want to party instead of get depressed, and figured a little Disney magic is a good start! I live nearby, in Lakeland, and want to invite some family and friends to have a small-ish party in my resort room, use the pool (according to Disney this is permitted, just may have to leave for resort guests if it's too crowded) and marvel over the animals and exhibits at AKL (I encourage anyone who hasn't been through the lobby and surrounding to go, it's amazing!). I can't afford to get tickets for everyone to go to the parks, so the resort it is! Has anyone done this? I haven't found any 'rules' specifically related to having a party or multiple guests visiting, and I'm not planning on partying too late into the night, since it's going to be on a Sunday to accomodate work schedules. Any thoughts? Suggestions also gratefully accepted - I'm the planner in the family, so unfortunately (or not, I guess, depending on the point of view!) I'm planning my own party!

I know from the wedding board people have planned welcome parties when having guests down for a wedding so I see nothing wrong with have people over to celebrate your 50th birthday (Happy Birthday by the way). Not sure how the whole using the pool thing works - also you did not say how many people you are planning on inviting - 10 or 20 or 100 - this might change things also.
