Please share your experiences and recommendations with using in-room child care (at a WDW resort).

I have read on this forum in the past about Ferry Godmothers. Are there other services? What are the costs? How far in advance to reserve?

Thank a lot.

We used Kids Nite Out this past June and were very well pleased. I think it was $12 hr/min 4 hours plus a $12 travel fee. The woman was prepared with ID and credentials and came with age appropriate games and activities. My son had a wonderful time and we'd definitely use them again!

I've used Kids Nite Out as well and was also pleased with them. They have replaced Kindercare as the "official" babysitting service that Disney recommends.

You can book them by calling 407-827-5444.

We have used both Kinder Care and Fairy Godmothers. Both charged about the same, with travel time added.

Our use with Kinder Care was for only the (at the time) 15-month-old and the sitter came with toys that had him crawling over the rest of us to get to her. He never cried when we left and that was unusual.

Our experience with Fairy Godmothers was great! When I called Kinder Care to confirm the time of arrival that day, I was told that they didn't have a reservation for us and had noone to send. So I called Fairy Godmothers about 5 hours before I needed someone and we were all set. She came with age appropriate toys for all three kids ages (at the time) 11, 5 and 3. All three kids had a wonderful time.

I can't hold Kinder Care's lack of a reservation against them, it was my travel agents fault, but at the same time I would have been left high and dry.

We won't have a need for in-room care now that the "baby" is old enough to go to the kid's clubs at the resorts. The Neverland Club provides dinner so that works better for us anyway. I'm not sure what we will do when DD12 turns 13!

I hope this information is helpful to you.

Oh, that sounds great... we may actually get to stay at PI until after 11 pm that way!

DD is 8, and would be just as happy to sit there and watch ToonDisney, or the Disney Channel, so that sitter would make some REALLY easy money!

FunFamily, I have trying to keep a thread alive on the Disney for Families board with this same topic. All who have posted, not one has been negative..Go check it out on the Families board......

Thanks to those who have posted, this is such a tough decision!!

We've used KinderCare on 5 different trips to the World and had 3 different sitters and can not say enough good things about the service. The sitters were well prepared and our kids loved them!

Still looking for contact numbers for Ferry Godmothers and KinderCare. If anyone has them handy, please let me know.

Also, do you have any specific sitter to recommend?

Thanks.

FunFamily, I posted the number above for Kids Nite Out, they have replaced KinderCare. KinderCare no longer does the in-room sitting, and Kids Nite Out hired the majority of the KinderCare sitters. :)
