Hello everyone,
I am a long time lover of all things Disney but this is my first post on the forum. DH, myself, and our infant will be visiting DLR for the first time, staying at the GC. I have heard that the GC offers in room babysitting services as our little one will not be old enough for the group babysitting the hotel offers. Has anyone had any experience with this? How does it work? We'd love to have a grown up night at Napa Rose :)

Also, is it common for families to bring infants to other sit down restaurants in the parks? I know Disney is family friendly in general but I am wondering in what restaurants a baby would seem out of place.

Thanks!!

Zero restaurants would be outta place...well, maybe Club 33. I have been in them all and you would be fine bringing an infant to any of them...now the nicer the place the more sensitive you would have to be. If the baby is quiet and peaceful, no problem. If they are gonna be fussy and crying...another story.

The poster "Whoever" on this forum has a great recap on his TR of how the babysitting services work. We once used Care.com and were happy with it.
I'm going to use a service he recommended for this July trip though. Disneyland Resorts DO NOT offer babysitting in room. Only Pinocchio's Workshop.

We've taken my DD to every restaurant at DLR since she was 9 months old. It all depends on how your baby/child interacts and is comfortable. We used to have to go to France a lot when she was a baby so she was used to late, loud, boisterous restaurants her whole life and that made a big difference. (We didn't take her to C33 yet though because that's my sacred place :) )

Napa Rose is open and spacious and you are more than welcome to bring any kids, but if you are worried and stressed it may not be an enjoyable dinner.

westie55, I outlined the sitter selection process towards the end of the below TR. There's some details mid-TR too when we went to Napa. Great experience.

As far as taking a infant/toddler, my experience with mine has said NOT TO. Your mileage may vary, but both Carthay and Blue Bayou were both VERY stressful situations, rushed, and generally takes away from the whole reason you are there... enjoying great ambiance and food. I'd recommend against it. Here's my list of places I would recommend skipping if there's even a chance of your child being unruly:

Blue Bayou
Club 33
Napa Rose
Carthay Circle
Steakhouse 55 for Dinner (Breakfast gets a pass as its more laid back)

Infants are way easier than toddlers, in my experience. We've ditched the kids for Napa and Club 33, mostly because the extra effort to manage them during a meal would have cut into our enjoyment. All the restaurants are well-prepared for families with kids of all ages. Our service with little ones has always been exemplary.

The front desk at the GCH will provide contact information for several babysitting services. We've used Destination Sitters in the past and were pleased. Once the reservation was set I got an email with the sitter's bio and contact information. She called to confirm before arriving to get our room number and details for the evening.

They have a four hour minimum, which was enough time for a cocktail, chef's counter at Napa and then some. Since we had kids ranging from 2 through 8 we planned the outing for bedtime so that they wouldn't feel like they were missing out on anything. It was nice to come back to a room full of sleeping kids. :)

Enjoy your grownup time!
