Hi Everyone! I am fairly new to this boards, but I posted yesterday in another Oct. thread, and now I'm confused because there seems to be 3 Oct. threads? Anyways, I thought I would see if some of my questions could be answered here. This will be our third time spending the last week of Oct. and beginning of Nov. at DL. We LOVE the park during Halloween! My DD will be 10 on 10/29 and I will be 42 on 11/1, so we always do a birthday/Halloween trip. We were here last 10/09 when the Halloween party was still at CA, so I had some questions about it now that it is in DL, and I am hoping you will help me to decide what to do. DH and I weren't going to do the Hall. Party this trip because DD seemed less interested last time, so we thought about doing the Happy Haunts Tour instead, that is until I found out it is now at DL. So my questions are...

1. For those that have gone to both, what is the diff. between CA and DL as far as the Hall. Party?

2. Do they close DL early then on the party nights? Since CA closed earlier anyway, it was not big deal, but DL is normally open later so does that mean it wouldn't be?

3. It seems like the ticket prices are higher than when it was at CA?

4. Has anyone done the Happy Haunt tour and if so how did you like it?

5. When does the schedule come out for Oct.?

6. Does anyone know of any ride refurbs during that time? And when will Matterhorn be back up?

7. When IASW closes for the holiday prep. will they still have the new light show on the outside? That's the only bad part about always going when we do because it is always closed, but the new lights would at least be beautiful to look at!

Thanks everyone for any help you can give. We are planning on keeping this a complete surprise all the way to the airport, and if possible throught til boarding. It is going to be so hard to keep this a secret for so long, but I know it will be well worth it just to see her reaction, as well as a memory she will never forget! Thank goodness I can come here and be excited with you guys!

Hi, Traci!

Someone else will tackle your questions but I just wanted to clear up the confusion about the threads.

The Halloween at DLR Superthread (created by me, with help from with Belle Ella, funatdisney and iKristin) is the year-round, permament, ongoing thread (just like the World of Color Superthread, the MM Superthread, the Fantasmic Superthread, the GCH Superthread, etc.) that covers all aspects of the Halloween season. That's the main thread for Halloween planning and info, and it was actually created and designed to minimize confusion the number of other threads with questions about Halloween that may pop up (because in previous years there may have been 100 threads on one topic and no one knew where to look for answers!), but I guess it's still confusing! The first post of the Superthread has links to lots of info, including Happiest Haunts Tour stuff.

The Superthread is the thread for posting photos, asking questions, giving breaking news on the Halloween season, etc., and it is up in the main Info sticky (by Mary Jo) at the top of the forum page, and will continue to be there for planning.

The October "Who's All Going" Check-In thread (great job done by funatdisney!) is a temporary thread, like all of the other check-in threads. It is mainly existing to gather everyone's travel dates and hotel information in case anyone wants to meet up in the parks. Same thing with the September Check-In thread, the August Check-In thread, etc.

And the 2011 Halloween Party Check-In thread (not the exact title) (also wonderfully managed by funatdisney) is temporary as well - it's simply a list of the party-goers and the costumes they will be wearing, also for possible meets.

Of course you can post your questions anywhere you like - and sometimes people may reply in any one of the threads more quickly than another on any given day - but that's the scoop on the threads so some of the confusion can be cleared up!

2. Yes, DL closes early, though on Tuesday a weekeday the park would close early anyway, on the Friday parties it closes early compared to other weekend days.

3. Much more popular, so the prices have rissen.

5. The schedule goes about 60 days out or less, so look for it in August or September.

6. Only rumors on this are stating it will reopen at the end of summer.

7. Nobody knows how long The Magic The Memories and You will run for. But the Holiday overlay doesn't happen until early November so you might see the current show.

I know what you mean. You're welcome! It's no problem at all - just post wherever you feel most comfortable, but feel free to jump aboard all 3 threads because, as I said, sometimes people are able to answer more quickly in one thread than another on any given day!

See, when World of Color started last year, I noticed the sheer volume of threads popping up about it - it was literally taking over this section of the DIS, bumping other threads out of the way. And the more threads that arose about WoC, the greater the confusion because no one knew where to get an answer to any particular question. So they would just start more World of Color threads! HydroGuy started a great WoC Superthread and that helped to minimize some of the WoC threads popping up, which helped a lot. It didn't stop all of the WoC threads, of course, but I think it helped to cut down on 100 of them taking up space on the first couple of forum pages!

So I had the (maybe not so bright?) idea to do the same thing with Halloween and Christmas - start Superthreads so there would be one thread for each holiday where people could go any time of the year and get general and detailed information. But when it is active alongside the two temporary Halloween-related check-in threads on the main page, it can be confusiing for people, I think!!

Thanks Skiingfast for your help! I guess I will have to reconsider buying tickets for the Hall. Party because it would be fun to try it at DL. The rest of it I guess time will tell!

Makes perfect sense to me Sherry Now I just need to tell DH and DD not to bug me for the rest of the evening and all of tomorrow so I can read the Superthreads , as if that will happen, but I can dream can't I?

IASW usually closes for holiday overlay the last week of October.

It closed Oct. 25 in 2010 and Oct. 26 in 2009.

Thanks Shannon! We have missed it because that's when we always come, but I wondered if while they are doing the inside, if the new colored light show will still be on the outside? Prob. not, but it would be fun to at least see that! I told DH that it means we need to plan a Christmas trip!!!
