Hi everyone-

I am desperatly trying to find a reasonable rate for Aug 24-Sept 9 on a rental car. We have 6 people for the first part of our stay so we need a mini van or are there any other vehicles we could rent? The absolute best rate I can find is $632.00 at thrifty. I have tried code after code and this is the best I can do.

Is this going to be the best that I can do? Has anyone stayed this long had better luck? Any suggestions would be so helpful.

Thanks,
Barbara

Don't know all of your plans of course but if your staying on property you may want to consider a town car. Most of the companies also offer the big 12-15 passenger vans as well.

Even if your leaving the property for a day you could take a cab or rent a car on site for a single day.

From what it sounds like you may have 2 groups of people so maybe also consider renting a smaller vehicle and making 2 trips. This would especially work if peoplel are arriving to MCO at different times. I have done this in the past where 3 of us arrived and 2 more about 3 hrs later. We got the car, went and checked in and then I drove back to MCO to pick up the rest of the group when they arrived. Same thing when we left.

As I said I don't know your exact situation but you may be able to tweek some of these ideas to fit your needs.

Good Luck!

I know this rate isn't "better" than the one you have, but the location is better - at the airport (not offsite like Thrifty). It's for Dollar car rental...$632.71/total for a minivan. I used the code 6COM under "promo code" (hit the Specials button to get this box on your ressie request page).
If you only need to vehicle to get to WDW from the airport I would agree with the pp you might be better off using a town car service or the like...

Thanks so far for your advice everyone. We do need the rental because we are staying off-site so a town car is really not an option for us.. but thanks for the idea.

I was able to at least switch to Dollar to be on site at the airport.

If anyone else had any other advice please let me know.

thanks again,
Barbara

I got a great rate from National on a minivan in August.
On the National Site there's a $25 off coupon for a minivan. Use the coupon with Contract ID 6402639. See if that helps any.

Good Luck!

We are going around the same time from 8/26 to 9/3 and the best I got was dollar at about 320.00 for 8 days including taxes and fees for a minivan.

Do wou have a Costco membership? Go to there web site they offer very good rates and have coupons for 1 free day or $25 off one day.

I went thru them and got a Ford Taurus for $336 total for 10 days.

Check it out. Good Luck.

I get a pretty good rate using the contract ID you did... Where did you find that contract ID?? Do I need anything special to use it?

What a great code! Where is it from? I just booked a full-size SUV for $380 total!

To the OP - I just plugged your dates in and they have a minivan (Chevy Uplander or similar) that seats 7 passengers for $540.41/TOTAL. That's better than the $600+ you've been getting! Plus they are also onsite like Dollar! Use the code above and check their website for the coupon code.

Good luck!

I can't thank you all enough for helping me out. Thanks so much!

Mommy RN I have plugged in the code and the coupon and I get $660.00! Am I doing someting wrong? Or did the deal go away that fast! I will keep trying to see if the $540.00 comes up -- I would jump for joy if it did!

Thanks,
Barbara

I am going to try it again and then PM you exactly what I did - so watch for the PM...

I hope that deal didn't go away! :(

Ok - I didn't PM you because you are right...the prices did change! It appears the discount code isn't doing much for you the September part of your trip. I tried splitting your dates to see what would happen (this would require you to return the car the the car care center and pick up another one about 1/2 thru your trip)...anyway...the first 8 days of your trip would be $264.08/total...the second 8 days of your trip would be $389.20/total. So it isn't that great of a deal at all! I wish I could have booked it for you when I saw it!

I will keep my eyes out for you though...

I should add that it seems my ressie is still the same...so maybe it only affects Sept for some odd reason...

Do you check your email more frequently than the DIS? You can PM me your email so if I see another deal I can zip you off an email...

This question is directed toward Plutolover - since a number of us have the same question. The contract number you provided does indeed produce great rates. I searched Mousesavers, Fatwallets etc... and was not able to find this contract number on any other site, as i was looking for a printable coupon. Can it be used by the general public, or it is just for a certain cc, or people employed at a specific place like airline or travel employees etc...?

WE would appreciate your response, as you were kind enough to mention the contract number. Don't want to use the # to make ressies and then at the National gate find out it cannot be used.
After reading and following another thread about double upgrades etc...I want to be sure first. Thanks very much.

I just happen to stumble upon the ID. I do a lot of searching on the web for codes and such. It actually appeared in an old post of someone's. It's supposed to be for up to 50% off an SUV or Minivan. I was surprised it worked. According to my paperwork it doesn't appear to need any special ID. But you will need the coupon from National's website.

I'll be picking my car up on Aug. 5, so if you are all going after that I'll post here about whether I had any problems or not. My DH will have his laptop at our resort.

I tried it for my dates (1st oct - 15th Oct, from sanford airport) and a mid-size SUV came out at least $50 cheaper than a compact car!

Thanks for your response - since this car rental is for my friend and her family - they have never been to WDW before - I want everything to go smoothly. As i mentioned before, after the the 2 class upgrade thread that ran, I need to know that they'll have certain coupons etc... to turn in at the Nat'l gate. I called Nat'l and asked about this contract. She told me it is from NACTA - an independent travel agents assoc. Since my friend is not a member of this assoc, what proof does she need to use the contract? We have the Nat'l coupon all printed.
Thanks once again. I really want to make their first trip a special one. Caroline

Thanks for that code...used the code with the $25 coupon on National's web site...
Pick up August 10 @ 10:30 AM
Drop off Aug 18 @ 4:30 PM
MCO
Minivan
Total with Taxes $367.60
I am also a Emerald Club member.
I had a ressie with Thrifty for $340, but for $27 more to stay in terminal is a steal.
