In need of DVC pixie dust!

Yay!!! Very excited for you. :goodvibes Dh and I bought in '02, should have bought in '93 because we went to WDW all those years staying at Deluxe resorts. Dh just kept thinking that once the kids were grown we wouldn't go, the opposite is true, we go even more now that we're empty nesters.

WWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am happy to announce that today I will be contacting our guide and putting down a deposit for 260 AKV points!!!! I am so excited I can't even stand it. Thank you to everyone who sent suggestions and pixie dust my way - it worked!!!!

Anyone able to share with me the process going forward? It starts with a call and a deposit today - then what?

I can't wait! I can't wait! I can't wait! 49 years of discounted Disney vacations - it just doesn't get any better than that!!!

Thanks again!

Not to confuse you but... you could break that up into 2 contracts to have the 11 month Home advantage at 2 resorts.

First of all congrats!:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

We bought in in July and it went very quickly. I called on the morning of July 4th and put down my deposit. While on the phone I recieved my UY and requested help getting ressies at SSR in January using my developer points.
July 5th my guide called to say that Januray was available and walked me through making the ressie. So now we are going for a week in a 1bdrm this January!!!
July 8th my fedex package arrived.
July 9th I signed it and sent it back.
July 12th Disney recived it.
July 21st closed on 200 pts at AKV!!!!!!!

It moves pretty quickly.

I was dying to buy in when WLV opened and my hubby wouldn't agree. (We agreed long agao that we both had to be on board for any major expense.) I'd bring in up every year. Ordering the Disney vacation planning dvds and info and just trying to make my case. He finally got on board this year after we finally went back to WDW. He loved the BC and I explained much we had spent on our vacation and got him to see DVC as an investment in his health and our happiness. Shameless, I know!

And I didn't even have to dangle his MLB season tickets over his head. Not that I would of course. :rolleyes1

I'm glad we waited until he was enthusiastic. Just makes it sweeter.

pixiedust: Congrats pixiedust:

Yeah!

Is your Robinsville, near Yardville, Hamilton Square? We lived in Hamilton for years, it was our first house. I have such wonderful memories of that town!

Bobbi:goodvibes

Yep - Hamilton Square is right next door. How long has it been since you lived here? We've been here almost 5 years, and anyone I talk to who has been here more than 10 years says it has changed so much they hardly recognize their own township anymore. And I don't think they mean it in a good way.

But for us it's been wonderful. And you can't beat the location! An hour to NYC, and hour to Philly, and 45 minutes to the shore. :-)

here's some more pixie dust! :wizard: :wizard:
My DH is the SAME way! His regret with DVC? We should have bought back in 2003! My DH was being a pistol toward the end as well....well...I have to think about it, blah, blah, blah. My B'day was 3 days after the "last" conversation and for my b'day, DH wrote in the bottom of the card "Call Todd and make the deposit" best b'day present ever!! Hang in there....he may just be driving you crazy or he may be trying to find a way to do more!!

Well, we used to buy corn from Flock farm, I suppose that's just a develpment now, with the name of the farm just being the road.:goodvibes Lived in Hamilton from 1970 to 1979 and taught in Hamilton High School West from 1968 to 1974 when DS was born. DH's DMom lived in Crestwood section of Hamilton. Is there still a Gropp's Lake? We used to bristle at having to use the Trenton postmark, finally, there's a Hamilton NJ our zip was 08619!

Our neighborhood was Village on the Green and I loved everything about our time in Hamilton! Yes, that interstate makes the shore so easily accessible! We live in Ohio, but have a second home in Cape May NJ, just a bit farther away from you.

So......did you all start the process? IF so when will your first trip be???

Congratulations!! :cheer2: :cheer2: How exciting - your husband came on board! I wish I had bought back in 1997 when I wanted to as well but my family talked me out of it (meaning my SIL - now I know why - she needed me to loan her money and I've never received a dime back!)

I'm hoping to buy in next few months - was all ready to give the down payment then my car needed fixed so now have to use that towards a new one :sad1: Oh well... all good things come to those who wait! (you are proof positive!)

Congrats!

Advice:

Break your 260 points into two contracts of 130 each ( or 2x100 and 60 etc...) It will make it easier if in the future you want to sale or give to your children.

Is there any minimum point purchase that you think it's a good idea to do this for? We're thinking of purchasing 180-200 points at either SSR (resale) or AKL (through DVC).:wizard:

Your first contact has to be the minimum. If they still have 100 point contracts, you can get one 100 point contract and then split the rest up into 25, 50, whatever smaller contracts. Then if you decide to sell later on, the smaller contracts are usually easier to sell. But if you buy a contract resale, it's already as small as you can get it. Only Disney can break up a larger contract into smaller ones.
