In N Out Burger

This thread got me hungry for In n out. Now we have to plan another California trip.....Darn

Are all the In and Outs the same, or carry the same menu. We stopped at one in a small town just past Palm Springs and it was a huge disapointment after reading how much everyone loves them on this forum.

They were just basic hamburgers nothing special, I can't even remember if there were any options like bacon etc. Give me a good old fashioned A & W teenburger anytime. Maybe we just hit a crappy location but I don't remember there being very many choices on the menu and I think there were just your basic condiments on the burger.

What exactly is it about the burgers in particular that everyone loves so much? Maybe we will have to go again and see if a different location makes a difference.

Honest to goodness burgers -- the way you would make them if you barbecued burgers at home.

Ingredients are fresh: Beef is fresh, not frozen. Shakes are made from real ice cream. Fries are cut from whole potatos, not frozen. Onions are sliced, not preprocessed. Everything is made to order. No heat lamps. No can openers.

You couldn't taste the difference!?!

I too was craving In and Out burgers the first night we arrived (after a 15hr flight from Australia).

We had them during our last trip 3 years ago, and I could still remember how good they were.

The rental car had a GPS device, so I used the yellow pages to find the closest one. It was 6 miles away!!!!! That Hertz neverlost system is really a dud sometimes.

Sounds like there was one closer. Oh well it was a nice little drive.

The burgers weren't as good as I remembered, or maybe it was because I was so tired. The shake was really good :thumbsup2

The location near the Character Warehouse does a good job. The burgers were very good, don't like the fries (tried them regular and well done- eh..we tossed most of them out).
We told the manager that we were from MN and always stop at that In and Out when on vacation... he was excited that someone outside of So Cal knew about it and gave us a bumper sticker.
Our MN car looks pretty with this little bit of So Cal bling, picks up our spirits when we are frozen cold and buried under snow.
