That's what my dh said and I concur! They're so yummy and so CA! Anyone with me?

I would be happy with that OR even with Wendy's. I used to LOVE Wendy's burgers in the old days, but their Frosty is amazing. I would love to see those in DLR.

I have only eaten there once but I wasn't a huge fan...I just didn't see what all the hype was about. Plus aren't they big all over AZ and stuff too? So not really just a CA joint. A cute burger place should replace it but I am not sure if I agree with in and out. Maybe I just had a bad burger from there. I might try it again when we drive down in april...dh has never been. :)

I totally agree! And isn't McDonald's leaving anyway? I heard something about that somewhere.

So not and In and Out fan. I just don't get it?! :confused3 I don't think the burgers are that great and could just skip it. Although, I know quite a few people who love it. I just don't get!!

Oh good. Someone else feels the same way. I just was not impressed at all! But some people love it :lmao:

I don't really care for McDonalds but I am NOT an In N Out fan either. I do like Wendy's if I'm doing a fast food burger :)

Yes, isn't Wendy's good? There are not a lot of them around - certainly not as many as McD's or Burger King - but they really do burgers well and you just cannot beat that Frosty! That would sell BIG TIME at DLR, I think!

I would much prefer In'N'Out than Wendys. Sorry.

I think that In'N"Out has pretty good food, and it is kind-of iconic to southern Cali. It would be fun if they would adapt the In'N"Out facade to be a kind of drive-in, and make it like the Sci-Fi Drive In in WDW or something. They could have old hot rods and stuff outside, and the surf - beach - music of the 50's and 60's (Beach Boys) would fit in well too! And it really wouldn't require a whole lot more theming. If you think about it, there are even road signs and what not over in that corner around the bathrooms (that fit in w/ the soon-to-be re-themed MM), but I think it would really be fun!

The are is quite large to do something fun and creative there. Hopefully they take advantage of the space.

For me that's the biggest disappointment about DCA...poor space planning!

Actually Fatburger is pretty good too, now that I think of it! I am a native and lifelong resident of SoCal and I honestly could not care less if we exclusively have In N Out or not! I don't understand all the hype about them. I just go by what tastes better to me. I think they would be better than McD's in DLR - a step up - but otherwise, it doesn't hold any special sentimentality for me because it is a SoCal icon of sorts. As with most really good food of any type, it is generally the unknown, hole in the wall, mom & pop places - especially in California - that make the best burgers, the best pizza, the best Chinese food, the best Mexican food, etc.

I totally agree! Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind seeing a GOOD authentic Mexican joint in DCA. YOu would think with CA having such a hispanic history that there could have been a little more focus on the culture and food.

And you know what else JUST occurred to me..... DCA never included anything about the gold rush era. That seems to be pretty important in the history of CA as well... Hmmmm.... oh well I guess.

I like In'N'Out. There's one down the street from my house and across the street from my work. I actually had it for lunch yesterday... I probably wouldn't eat it if they had it at DLR, just because there are so many near me. But I guess it would be cool for tourists who don't have an In'N'Out near them... I can't picture an In'N'Out at DLR though.. It seems like too much of a labor intensive job to have at DLR. If they didn't do the same like they do at the In'N'Outs here (slicing their own potatos on site, etc..) it wouldn't be the same to me...

ITA about the potatos...and I can understand people not liking the meat. It's by no means perfect. It's just very CA to me. But the company is very Christian (I base this on the fact I see Bible verses printed on the paper products.) So I don't know if they'd want to be associated w/a liberal company like Disney.

That's true! Now that you mention it, you are right - they did not include any Gold Rush stuff. Doubtful they will now, either. There are a couple of things associated with California that they haven't delved into TOO much (as much as they could), and now with the revamping of the park, who knows what it will end up being in 4-5 years?

Back to food! Now, I think mostly everyone will concur that DLR as a whole has vastly improved their quality of food in the last 15 years or so. It is still not as good as you would find at a mom & pop place, but it is SO much better than what it used to be back in the old days. Having a McD's there kidn of was a step backwards, I think, even though people are familiar with it and people like familiarity. But you are 100% right - California has a very rich Hispanic history and currently high population of Hispanic residents, and even though I don't personally like Mexican food, most people I know DO love it a lot and they all say that the little tiny stands and corner places serve the best food - not the 'chain' restaurants. So it would serve DCA well to put in some really great, authentic, homemade Mexican food...but they won't.

I am an Italian food nut. In the Farmers Market (pre-The Grove days), over here near where I live, there used to be a little family-run Italian place called Tony's in one of the food courts in FM that had been there for decades, and they were struggling because everyone was going to the Italian place at the other end of FM, or they were eating other types of food in the Market. And when The Grove moved in, Tony's started losing customers altogether. Eventually, they closed up shop and moved away, never to reopen. But let me tell you, this little lady who ran Tony's for its entire duration and hired all her family members to work there, made THE BEST meatball sandwiches I have EVER had! I mean, I cannot even describe how good these sandwiches were. Just scrumptious and hearty. Way better than Numero Uno or any other meatball sandwich I have had at any Italian delivery joint. I would get like 6 of them at a time and take them home and just scarf down meatball sandwiches for days! The fact that she is no longer in business, or that she isn't running her restaurant at DLR is a crime! She should be making big money off of that food!

We're landing at LAX just after noontime tomorrow. First stop...rental car counter. Second stop...In & Out Burger.

I even have an I&O sticker on my car. I get lots of questions about it since we're on the opposite coast and there are none here. Oh, how I wish there were...then again...that would probably not be good for me! Even my picky DD16 who won't eat fast food hamburgers LOVE I&O Burger.

Can't wait until tomorrow!

we don't have in-n-out here in washington, so if it's there at DL, all the better for us! :thumbsup2

None in Oregon either! We ate at In-n-Out while in SoCal this summer, and the burgers were really good. We ended up stopping at one on our drive home, too. I agree with PP's about the fries not being that great, but I would love to see an In-n-Out stand in DL! ::yes::
