My in-laws' house was broken into. How scary! I put the details in my pre-trip report, but please be thinking of them. They're supposed to go to WDW for the first time in a few days (with us), but that's a little up in the air right now. (best I could do for a scared face)

Sorry about their misfortune.

They didnt get robbed, they got burglarized.

Robbery is a crime of violence.

Burglary is a property crime.

I blame the media for perpetuating this falacy.

Well, I suppose I still view it as an act of violence, considering they left their baseball bats at the scene of the crime. Just because they were fortunate enough not to be home and were not victims of violence themselves, it was still a crime of violence. If we want to get technical, robbed means taking something unlawfully, or by threat of violence, so I still find it a correct use of the word. It could also mean to plunder, which again applies. (Believe it or not, I am educated-even though I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night)

Sorry if my response is a little snarky, I just do not particularly find this the time for a grammar lesson-especially when you could not know all of the details, nor why I chose to use the words I did. If I had spelled it "robed" or something, that would make more sense. Anyway, I digress...

Thank you for your expression of support.

Sorry about your IL's..

our office was broken into. they took about three things totaling $5K. the next weekend a satelite radio was stolen out of my truck in the driveway of my house. It is not a good feeling.

we got alarms for home and work. at least it is a little bit of protection, or at least notification of some sort.

sorry to hear...

Mikeeee

I'm sorry to hear that.

Sorry that your inlaws (and you) are dealing with this right now. My parents were burglarized several years ago. They'd just moved in, and their alarm system was scheduled to be installed the following morning. The feeling of violation is unbelievable. I hope your inlaws are able to get their insurance company right on this so they can at least replace some of their belongings. Unfortunately, the peace of mind can't be replaced as easily. It's awful!

Doubly sorry that another poster decided it was a proper time for a lecture. Some people have nothing better to do. :sad2: I guess you could always respond with the correct spelling of "falacy"...or just provide the poster with this link Online Dictionary ;)

OIY VEY!:headache:

YIKES! Sorry they're having to deal with this - doesn't matter whether they were robbed or burglarized, it's still a violation and scares the crap outta you!

I hope they get through this without too much more trouble.
