I had corned beef and cabbage for the very first time :) I was told I had to have it with horseradish, and I did. Of course I had to have about 4 huge glasses of water with it too. I actually really liked the stuff, though when it was brought to the table I had second thoughts. My kids reactions were even worse... :)

I did try it and thought it was pretty good. I loved the horseradish and the cabbage...probably killed my diet, but it was worth it.

:) :) :) :)

Thanks for the suggestion :)

LOL you tried it! Great meal. I was taught originally it was considered peasant food...the corned beef, cabbage and of course potatos. Throw in some pumpernickle bread and your all set. Now corned beef is no longer a cheap piece of meat. I had it for dinner at my parents last night and its cooking here right now. We toss in the horseradish to give it a little kick ;) wash it down with a stout or two ;)

Ok, this came with the hoseradish (yum) the carrots and cabbage, but there was an orangey cubed veggie to. I was going to ask the waiter but he was no where to be found. Have any idea?

I didn't eat the potatoes, sorry not on Atkins, or the orangey looking veggie, since I was not sure what it was, but the cabbage and carrots were good too. My kids had a good laugh when I took the first bite with a huge chunk of hoseradish...I adjusted the amount after that :) :)
They said my eyes watered and buldged out. They also brought mustard to the table, but I was not sure where to put it, and I am not a mustard fan.

So, I learned something new today...now if I could only master this Bellydancing exercise video as easily....lol :)

thanks :)

Maybe it was sweet potato or squash?

I've never had corned beef with horseradish, but I like it with spicey brown mustard :)

So you were a wee bit Irish today Glo :)

I know it wasn't sweet potatoe...I love that stuff....probably squash, now that I think of it.

DD, I think that is as Irish as I am ever going to get...not much Irish in me :) :)

turnip and other stuff.....and I wait........WAIT YOU SAY.....yes I wait for me to open the windows and let the stink out when I cook it.....so yesterday and today we had a nice big ham shoulder and potatoes and carrots.....nothing thta will stink the house up

She's SHORT enough to be Irish.....Like that little guy on the Lucky Charms box!!! What was he?? A munchkin?? NO.....A leprechan!!! She's a Leprechan pretending to be a Massacuban!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Actually Glo.....Cabbage and Onions are two of a select few foods that the body actually expends more calories consuming than it takes in in digesting......so....at least as far as that is concerned....yer did OK! :):):):)

Thanks Goofy....actually I did ok, as the horseradish, the corn beef, carrots and the cabbage were only 13 carbs :) So I was with in the 20 carb limit :)

It was pretty yummy though :)

Could it have been turnip that absorbed some of the carrot color maybe? Squash would be sweeter than turnip.........
